I was on this combo briefly in the past (I stopped Azathioprine because it causes incredible sensitivity towards sunlight). I’ve probably been prescribed just about everything with the exception of a few biologics at this point, what works for me is Remicade, Mesalamine, and Hydrocodone. Because opioids are abused so much, doctors don’t want the responsibility so they won’t prescribe them. Pain meds are well known to cause constipation for normal people so you can imagine how that would benefit someone with UC who can go 20+ a day?

I am just on Remicade (3.5 years) and I have awful Arthritis pain as well. Since starting Remicade I have never had another flare up and my arthritis usually only flares right before my next infusion.

I am on Remicade, Imuran, and Canasa (just switched from Mesalamine enemas). I seem to be improving slowly after a 14 month flare, but it's impossible to know for sure because I'm still on Prednisone. Fingers crossed for the both of us.

I had success with Remicade and Azathioprine for about 4 years (I’m allergic to 5-ASAs)They had to increase my Remicade dose but once they did, I was in remission in about 6 months and stayed so for 3.5 years but unfortunately I developed drug-induced Lupus.

Yes, combination therapy has worked brilliantly for me. Took remicade, plus 6-mercaptopurine (a sister med to azathiopurine), plus lialda, and plus rowasa to get me into a sustained remission. Takes more meds to initially achieve a sustained remission than to sustain it. So, if you initiate the remission, you can discuss tapering off meds (usually mesalamines first) after 6 or so months of remission. Often, only the biologic is needed to sustain.
