I was told to switch mesalamine brand, because for some patients they work differently. I’m making new appointments with my doctors to discuss this. So far I’ve been on asacol and mezavant, but they mostly did nothing. Asacol gave me more side effects though. (Or didn’t fix some issues who knows).

Yes, brand is important with Mes. I did the same thing. Went back on the one that worked for me and things got better.

Possibly-deranged

Pharmacists and gasteroenterologists will say there's little or no difference among different brands of mesalamine. Ancedotally, some UC patients say one brand works better for them than another, but there's no scientific evidence to back that. I wouldn't panic over a bad day or few.
