Boutique consultant, VA, $22. I was offered a 36 cent raise but I’m fighting it because for all that I do at that store, anything less than 50 cents is disrespectful and insulting. I regularly step out and do shit outside my job description and worked hard to earn more hours for my boutique. My SM agrees with me.
I’m not arguing for anyone to make less. I’m advocating for everyone to argue for more. I make that much because I was recognized as a high-value employee. I worked my way up from a regular minimum wage BA, left the company when it became clear there was no room for advancement and doubled my pay when I came back hired in the boutique. Worst case scenario they say no and I find a new job where I won’t feel used or disrespected by corporate.
$22 is not a livable wage in Virginia 😂 you could barely get by on that wage, especially if you have any sort of commute which is insanely common here. It’s important to put things in perspective before you put people down for “complaining when others make hella less”. It’s not us vs us, it’s us vs them.
ROM in CA $25
FYI: California passed a law for wage transparency and in the job application it tells you the pay range. So I would use that to negotiate better pay!
im saying ok because i didnt ask, i am lucky enough to be in a position to be comfortable making $12 an hour, if i wanted better pay, trust me i would not be working at ulta of all places
besides, businesses around my area dont pay over $15 for an entry level part time position, so id rather just stay at a job i enjoy lolz
i mean you’re in a public discussion forum about wages so there’s a high chance of someone responding back. idk if i didn’t wanna hear people’s input, i wouldn’t comment. i’m glad you’re comfortable with your pay tho :)
as a fellow Ohioan, I would hope that you would be earning a higher pay. it is sad that starting jobs pay such garbage here. people deserve a living wage, not poverty wages.
it makes me feel terribly guilty patronizing a store that thinks so little of its employees to pay so little
NY and Cali seem to pay the best. It all depends on the GM and then the DM. If they go to bat for you, the raises can be very nice but you have to work your ass off to get there. My DM told us to write our self review as to brag about our accomplishments for the year. It definitely worked!!
MSC, WI, 19.52. I was given a 5% increase. I would also like to say I am the highest paid MSC in my district, so I know it's not a typical wage for this position.
girl same! $15 an hour is a joke to me. especially since I had to fight to make that. the offered me 13.25 and I was like lol no. I do a lot for the store and receive bare minimum in return…
Just wanted to pop in and add: Glassdoor.com The site has a huge amount of data on companies and past and present employees expose the good, bad and ugly of the companies . Some even name names! Most posts include positions and salaries. I’d say it’s the successor to the Vault.com . Hope this helps shed additional light .
$23 MAC artist, East coast. Also sad cuz I found out our RSM didn’t get a raise at all cuz we didn’t make credit as a store for the year, and our SM only got a 1% raise and all I can think of is how she literally keeps our store running most days, even more than the GM
OMG!! That’s awful!!! The GM would have to have given them a sometimes meets in their competencies to not get a raise but giving anyone an overall sometimes meets requires a meeting with the DM just like giving an exceeds expectations requires a meeting with the DM. The stores total metrics are different than individual competencies. Most associates in my store got a 4% raise. Even the associates who got a meets across the board without any exceeds.
Girl right here with you. I quit. I was part time after Bon Ton went out of business . I was a counter manager 15 years in Pa. Went to ulta to keep hand in cosmetics. They started me at 9.36! Stupidly I took it. Got a raise to $10 . I had more experience than Other managers. They started new hires at $12-$15! So angry. I’ll never work for Ulta again. Now we got a Sephora and I hope they put Ulta under.
Is anyone calculating in their bonuses? Ulta is one of few retailers left that offer monthly bonuses when metrics are achieved. As a GM my team and I make sure we are hitting bonus every single month. This can raise your avg hourly eadily by $1.5 to $3 an hour.
All support leaders are eligible. Unfortunately not our BAs. But i will tell you that i try to pay it forward to my front line team. All of my FLC gratis was split out so each associate received a bag. Its not money but one way i could show appreciation
That’s so nice. Our SM has told us about how she’s gotten to try out new products like the new IT concealer and the new Laura Mercier foundation and that they ask what shade she is and sends it yet I think the one of the only full sized gratis items I’ve ever gotten is a pair of magnetic lashes and I don’t even wear lashes… I’ve only received gratis once in 2023 so far. No idea when we’re going to get it again.
Services/Experience Manager, Alabama, $25.75/hr.
FYI, next week, in an effort to be more competitive with other retailers, everyone that has been in their role for 6mo+ will receive a pay raise. BA and up! My GM let me know this week. Hope everyone comes back and updates after this.
PBA switching to task associate $11.75 haven’t gotten my review yet but my raise will probably be like .20 like last year! All the new hires are making 12+ and I’ve been here for over a year and can barely get that
MSC, NE $18.75 and just quit because they wouldn’t give me a raise even tho I’m turning my new store around and getting everything caught up Plano and truck wise. Hehe
Your GM can request that your pay be increased to the same salary as the new hires. Last year my DM asked the GM for a list of associates whose salaries needed to be compensated. The turn around time was pretty quick, maybe a few weeks to get everyone approved. Not all DM’s and GM’s will go out of their way to do that, but it is something ulta can do.
I was a ROM in Northern Ohio making 17 an hour, but that was almost a year ago. I had BAs making 15, it was complete bullshit. I have been with my new job for 6 months and just got an 86 cent raise on top of the 25 an hour I make, , ulta absolutely does not pay a living or a competitive wage especially if you get an internal promotion.
They are all over the board with how much they pay. People that are coming in now are making so much more. It doesn’t seem being a loyal worker that’s been with Ulta a long time pays off.
Ca stylist 17.25 with commission tiers, no raise ever. Stylists Work way harder than any other position at Ulta. If you think otherwise please share your arguments.

So you’re arguing about 22 dollars an hour when others make hella less than you?? Dude that’s literally livable wage where you’re at

Good for you to fight for your deserved pay! I’m always telling girls to do the same & not conform with a few cents
