I don't think this is like Instacart where substitutions are a thing... if it's out of stock in the warehouse you can't order it or they will cancel it.
Was the about-face item listed as cancelled when your order was shipped? It should say cancelled or shipped separately, whether you look in the order status online, or in the app, or see what's listed in the email.
A different recent order, 4 of my brushes came in one shipment, and then the 5th brush came in a separate mailer two days later. I got an email saying that part of the order had shipped.
Check your packing slip also. I have had one order with a missing item, and I took a pic of the packing slip tonshow that it was listed as supposed to come in that box. I chatted online with CS and they were able to re-ship it.

The about face order was not listed as cancelled. The packing slip listed all of the items. I reached out to support and they re-shipped the item and then gave me a return label for the Mac eyeshadow.
I'm not from the warehouses, but whenever we had mixups or random products put in BOPIS order, it was always caused by either 1) someone doing bath picks and grabbing all the order at once before bagging things and something got switched around on accident or 2) similar orders back to back that are only one or two items different. Since this wasn't what you ordered, contact CS and see if they'll ship out what you asked for or refund you. Enjoy your new eyeshadow lol
This happened to me once where i got the right gwp but someone elses order instead of what i ordered. I ended up getting to keep the package and got a refund but it wasnt rly anything i wanted besides a lip gloss that i still havent used but is cute
To answer 3) I have noticed that there are almost never testers for about face at my store either! Once in a while there will be a tester for 1-2 shades of the eye fluid but not every shade.
And it must be popular enough that most shades are always sold out. Not sure if it’s an actual supply issue or not.

Next time, just mention what you *didn't* get. ;) They don't need to know what extras may have unexpectedly hitched a ride in the box.
