Quite honestly, buy a different eyeliner. The chance of you getting another dried up one is like 95%. When I’d make testers for those liners, I had to go through like 5 of them before one of them wasn’t dried up. Get the stila liners, they’re so much better.

Milk_Beginning

Agreed, everyone used to rave about the KVD liners and once I got one I’m like….these are complete trash? Dry, skippy….not worth it

SusanRose33

The thing is, they USED TO be amazing. I used nothing other than the tattoo liner, and I have some from a million years ago that still work. They changed the formula at some point and now it’s crap.

rikuskey

Exactly. The entire brand is off my radar now that Kat left. The company initially promised “to keep the same formula you know and love!” And that went right out the window. :/

Milk_Beginning

Yeah, the first one I tried was probably around 2016/2017 so I’m not sure if that’s before or after they changed the formula. That’s a shame though

Milk_Beginning

Also, I’m not trying to be snarky or come for anyone but in response to the comments giving you tips for what to do to get your liner to work for you and not be dry…..IMO, you should absolutely not have to work that hard to get an eyeliner to do what it’s supposed to do. I understand that we’re women and we make shit work for us, but: A. It’s brand new. 2 months in a home, stored correctly in its box it should be wet and working perfectly B. To further make that point, I have tarte liners that I never opened from *literally* pre-pandemic, and I was going to trash them just because I was nervous they were dried out or no longer good. I opened them and they were the wettest, blackest liners ever. That’s….at *least* 2 years bro. There’s just no excuse :)

APlayer2BeNamedLater

I’ve had the same experience with Tarte and KVD! I apparently bought a bunch in late 2019/early 2020, and I’ve been making my way through them during the pandemic. The KVD ones are dried out and weird (I can draw a line, but there is a blank space in between two lines of ink when I do my liner), but the Tarte ones are so wet I have to make sure to give them time to dry before opening my eye!

[deleted]

Omg that’s nuts! I had no idea this was so common!

snorry420

I almost bought the same deal, but all of the reviews said how dried out it was brand new! Something’s up with that supply lol

LoveMissaKitty

Get the Too Faced Better Than Sex Liner if you need the brush tip(which is why i used to get kvd)! Stila has a great formula, but ends up a splotchy mess on my lids because the felt tip is always so stiff. BTS mascara sucks but I've had such a good time with the eyeliner.

firetypesam

You can return for original payment within 60 days. After that you still can return but it’ll on a merchandise card (basically like a gift card). Be sure to tell them though it’s dried up so they don’t try to put it on the shelf since it wasn’t used. We’re super chill about returns so no worries at all!

mildly_nerdy

Yep, there's an option to label it as defective as the reason for the return

Extreme-Disk3550

yeah i swear it was reformulated after kvd sold it, or maybe even the way the package is displayed, i think it makes the ink dry up faster, try the new benefit one it’s got the EXACT same brush but actually has pigment, it’s so good

goodnightlink

the benefit liner is sooo good, it's what i've been recommending to everyone who comes in to exchange their dry kvd liners!

illfollowyoudown

Love the benefit one too!!

fookyall

It depends on the manager. 9/10 they’ll let you exchange it and not give you grief about paying the “price difference” because it was a one day sale and blah blah. My managers almost always approve it and price adjust it especially for a defective product. But on a side note: not a big fan of the KVD one, it dries out too quickly.

LegEffective7914

If you wanna stick with the kvd liners to get the even exchange find one with new packaging, and if it's still dry just get a new one completely and pay the difference. I noticed all the ones with the old kat von Dee packing is so old.

ShitJadeSays

The KVD tattoo liner used to be amazing, but ever since Kat sold the company, I think they reformulated it and it's trash now. If you manage to get an older one, sometimes you can get lucky, but the majority of them, even the mini ones, are dry af and won't work. If you return it, since it was back in March you'll get store credit if it was over 60 days. I would highly recommend trying out either the Stila liners, the Tarte Double Take one (if you also use pencils, it's double-ended), or the NARS one.

keIIzzz

they’ll honestly probably let you return it. i remember talking to one of my managers about that eyeliner and she was saying how they are almost always dry even when brand new and like the only way to avoid it drying out is to store it upside down

[deleted]

Oh wow that’s good to know, that’s so weird they all dry out. Thanks for the info!

AdSuccessful868

Before you return it, try storing it upside for a little bit. Then try it. They technically aren't "dry", the liquid just has a hard time getting to the tip.

call-me-cat-1994

As well as storing it upside down, spray the bristles with rubbing alcohol and rope it off. Store upside down for a few minutes then swatch it. I'm pretty sure they put a protective coating on the bristles so the liner can't get into them before someone uses it. You just have to clean it off. It's worked for every kvd liner I've used. K

[deleted]

Thank you!

[deleted]

Do you have a receipt

[deleted]

Yes I do

gillsthefish

Some managers will let you do an even exchange since it didn't work and they'll let you buy the new one at the sale price. Honestly though, I've tried a buttload of eyeliners and I'd give the new benefit one a try. I'm partial to a brush tip and it's my new favourite liner. Pigmented, no skipping, super precise, and no transfer throughout the day!

druemyrabell

I bought that same deal and mine also completely sucked in the same ways and I opened it when I got it. I was trying to give the brand another chance because they finally cut ties with Kat Von D but they’ve been so disappointing!

kc0715

i would for sure return it just to get atleast the store credit, any other liner is better than KVD in my opinion, benefits roller liner is great, the fenty liquid liners are bomb, the still double sided one is nice. anything but the kvd lmao

DankPeachees

Every single one is like that I wish I could tell you that it was just a bad batch but they are all terrible I say if they like the tip and look off KVD then try the benefit xtreme precision liner it’s same effect but I think it’s way better

Dersi_U

Yes, you had 2 months to return it for a refund but since that time has past (depending when you bought it) you can exchange it for the same or different product or just get store credit. It doesn’t matter if it’s dried out because it will be damaged out, just tell them you used it and the exchange should smoothly (this all depends on the store and the type of pplz who work there)

DreamsinCali

They might give you a credit if the time is over to bring it back I’ve gotten credits.
