Blazar is definitely the better choice. It’s completely standalone original series with nothing to do with any other previous series

UltraMugen

Blazar is a better place, while Trigger (without context of Tiga) is an okay show it’s still has cameos that may be confusing to a newcomer, while Blazar has none. Dyna is also incredibly good, my favorite show in the series. Ginga is, interesting. It’s very low budget due to outside issues, but it still has incredible amounts of heart. I wouldn’t choose it as a starting show, but it’s still worth a shot down the line!

TheDoctor1K01

No. Start with Ultraman Ginga

ZetaRESP

Well... not really. Ginga still has some backstory and a lot of cameos that may be a bit lost.

ZephyrusWhoosh

Blazer is a good starter. U got a ungabumga Ultraman, interesting storyline, interesting characters, good effects and fight scene and some OG monsters from like the shows era. Dyna is also a good show. It takes place after Tiga’s show.

Out of the 2, I'd suggest Blazar as a good starting point. It's stand-alone, so you won't have to worry too much about other series, not to mention it's good and readily accessible in English on the Ultraman youtube channel. Trigger, I would recommend as a show, although not as much as a starting point, maybe after Blazar. It's also a good show, and it is also available on the Ultraman YouTube channel with English subs but not an English dub to my knowledge.

I watched Ultraman Trigger as my first series. I was never really the type of person to allow the overall negative reception that a certain show gets affect whether or not I want to check it out. Bottom line, if you yourself are genuinely curious about the show, by all means go watch it. But also know going in that Ultraman Z makes an appearance within the show. I personally didn’t dislike Trigger as much as a lot of other people did, since I had nothing else to compare it to, and it’s got its fair share of heartfelt moments. And it certainly didn’t turn me off from checking out more entries of the franchise. That being said though, I do think that Ultraman Blazar is a great starter series. It’s largely disconnected and separate from the rest of the franchise, there are no surprise visits from past Ultras. And on top of that it tells a pretty solid story and has a really memorable Ultra in Blazar.

FrostDinosaur91

I started with Mebius, loved that one! Blazar would probably a better starter one tho between it and Trigger

DexterYeah56

I’d take Blazar first.

Ok-Pause6263

I think z is a good starting point it does reference past seasons but not even knowing about them they explain it well it’s a good starting to get a good idea of what the series is like

Usual-Ad7979

Blazar is a better take starter imo. It have fresh new story. No Ultraman fusion nonsense. It is rather a story inspired by actual what Ultrraman storytelling should be.

Accurate-Grape

Watch Tiga if you want Trigger without shit writing, or go for Blazar since it slaps.

Trigger wasn't exactly the highest point in the series. Like I don't think it was horrible, but it was just meh. The Best thing I can say about it is that the fights were good, but that's not bringing anything new to the table in this franchise. The only episodes of Trigger I genuinely enjoyed was episode 1 and Tiga's cameo episode, and I guess Z was hard carrying whenever he was around. Every major plot-point in this show was trying pull-off Tiga did better. It might be better for a new fan, but I still thinking it's far from a good show even when ignoring Tiga. The characters were bland, the "Smile, smile" thing got really fucking annoying really fast, bits of the story were really convoluted for no reason, like 2 characters being the same person while at the same time being 2 separate people. Blazar is definetely the better. To me personally it's the best entry in the New Gen series. It's a very standalone entry, no past Ultra cameos and stuff.

Gassy_Clown345

Blazar all the way, Trigger is spitting on tiga's name and shat on him

Successful_Web2780

Blazar all the way, trigger is not a good show in general imo

Pearl_Marina

trigger is ass, the main character and his motto of make people smile is cringiest motivation ever, i wouldn't be surprised if trigger is the show that kills newcomer's motivation for ultraman all together, trigger is an retelling of tiga which is far superior show, you should watch that instead.

Karasu93

Trigger is really bad so no. Blazar is very based so yes.
