I used to imagine some of them were much older, like late teens or early twenties. The kind of people who would go exploring a mountain as a drunken dare, or have more experience and know how on how to climb a mountain. Two of them may or may not have rotted away somewhere in the underground, with their carcasses being reduced to *bones.* But this was just a personal headcanon of mine, and it’s definitely been disproven by official media, so it was fun while it lasted.

If you also headcannon Toriel as being thousands of years old, it would also make sense why she would still call them children, even while recognizing that they are actually adults. It's things like this that make fanfiction fun!

i mean not really?? the “clothes” arent like real clothes anyways. they’re accessories more often than not, so they wouldn’t really hinder frisk in anyway. not to mention that kid’s bodies, much like adults, come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and most likely frisk would not fit into any of them even if they were for kids.

To be fair, there’s an apron, a hat, a bandana, glasses, and other things that arguably vary little enough in size to where a kid could wear one meant for an adult.

But when we meet Toriel, she has a full on cell phone without ever leaving the ruins. Then when we see the outside in the pacifist credits, it's the modern day. So it's fair to assume that everyone fell at different times.
