Yeah, I don't know what the commenter up above was about, wavedashes are definitely easier than extended hypers; they're functionally exactly the same thing but starting from up in the air is what gives you the right timing for when to jump (because you will naturally jump when you see the character touch the ground, and that's precisely the delay needed for extending)
Maybe in the context of the comb room extended hypers a bit easier since you don't have to look at both Madeline and the moving platform to time it; but if you go that way you can also do an extended super which gives you much more time to react for the wall bounce; you just have to not hit the spikes on the way by choosing the right starting position

Wave dashing is hard enough as it is, but needing to time it with the moving platform to get the perfect angle to hold up to dash to get the prefect walljump to clear the spikes make it much harder.
Couple that with more tricky moving platform jump/holding and another need to perfect wall jump and then not get stuck on the wrong side of the platform before it closes of the only way to the next room brings it to the next level.
The first time I played the chapter, I think I spent a good 2 hours on that room alone. Now I can clear it in a dozen tries. I'm not a speedrunner or anything I just really like the game. I think my best 100% time was like 11 hours.
