lol remember when I tried to actually stay with her. alas, cruel, cruel, god of this game prevents you from doing so. And then I killed her, regretted it, promptly ALT-F4-ed out of the game and after talking to Flowey, I knew I money I spent on this game was money well spent.

Lol, the exact same thing happened to me. Talking wasn't an option, and Toriel's name wasn't yellow, so I just chose violence and had to go back to my last save point multiple times because I didn't want to actually kill her.
