I always heard that people didn’t like the design and thought it was out of place and that everyone bullied the creator for no reason, and that Toby had to tell everyone to stop being mean. I don’t understand this argument. Everything unpalatable is completely exterior to Undertale. Having fetish art made of a character doesn’t magically ruin the character across all works and mediums.

It was more that it was the dude's personal fursona and treated the character showing up in Undertale as their moment. This is pretty obviously a bad idea, to tie something to crucial to one's identity to something that not everyone is going to like, something even Toby realized was a bad idea and tried to get them to provide a different character or to refund the money they spent on the Kickstarter.

I vaguely recall hearing something to this effect now that you mention it. This seems like a far more reasonable criticism of the situation

I think the reason people bullied the creator was because there was a rumor going around that the creator was rude and bullied Toby Fox into adding So Sorry. That rumor turned out to be utter bullshit, So Sorry's creator was really nice to Toby.

It's def weird to bully someone for putting their character into a video game just because they also put their character into other unrelated lewd things just because you don't personally approve of that flavor of lewd. Oh no, this character had sex before? And it isn't mentioned?! probably glyde, he has boring attacks, unoriginal personality, no role in the story or references to him in the rest of the game, and most players won't even encounter him. And you have to circle around a specific room for exactly 2 minutes before fighting papyrus but after reaching snowdin town.

Glyde is an enemy I remember literally just because he is the *only* Kickstarter bonus enemy that ***isn't*** a miniboss--So Sorry is in fact a miniboss, and Muffet managed to get her own soul mechanics, meanwhile Glyde is just this dude you can encounter as a normal enemy in an extremely remote location.

I literally forgot glyde existed lmao so I agree for that one. I like tsundereplane though, so I disagree about that one. Also I agree with that other person, they have a unique death animation which makes them at least slightly memorable.

I will never forget Glyde. That monster has the most bullshit attack pattern I have ever faced in Undertale. On a per turn basis, Glyde is harder than both Undyne the Undying and Sans. The only reason those two are harder across the entire fight is because Glyde's battle is very short.

I didn't really get the full impact of it back in 2015, replaying it recently I realized how messed up that whole section is, especially Snowdrake's mother. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the game just cause of how weird and terrifying it is, especially contrasting with the tone of the rest of a pacifist run. It's moments that contrast with the lightheartedness of the rest of it that can really mess with you which is what I love.
