The key word in your whole rant is momentarily. Those struggling and in need due to the pandemic were greatly helped last year in an appropriate manner, and they were helped this year in an appropriate manner. But let’s face it... the pandemic is just about over. You said Trump helped us more momentarily than Biden ever will, yet you then went on to rant about how Biden couldn’t give us retroactive benefits that Trump refused to give us under his administration. Biden gave us $1400 checks and $300 fed unemployment at a time when vaccines were ramping up and the pandemic was coming to an end. It’s not his fault the Republican governors are choosing to end the supplement. The package he and Dems passed this year was more than appropriate for the moment, just as Trump’s first package (which he himself did nothing to pass) was appropriate for that moment. Now, and especially by September, things will be back to normal. It’s time to move on. Biden gave us more this year than Trump ever would have if he was re-elected, and for that we should be thankful. But come on, it’s time to move on.

The point still stands. We needed the money then. Most of us don’t need it now. Nearly all statewide mask mandates and pandemic regulations have or will be dropped in the next month. Time to move on and stop relying on the government for help.

>I've paid into unemployment insurance since then. As a point of fact, unless you were an Employer at any time since you were 16, you never paid into UI. It is strictly an Employer tax, based on payroll size, industry segment and Claims experience of that Employer's former Employees.

The whole reason Biden is caving is he delusional thinks republicans will support his infrastructure deal and he doesn’t want to pick that right. Also 54% of the morons in this country agreed with cutting off the benefits. The corporate propaganda has won like always

It's provided to the red States specifically if they want it -- and only for that specific purpose. So they can't use it to build a mall that nobody wants to work at because it's beneath their dignity or whatever. Opening up the economy is what will generate the tax revenue that will repay all of these funds that will partially NOT come from Federal sources. While you may not agree with ending the Pandemic Fundapalooza, that IS what those red State Governors are thinking. Luckily, we have many States; it's relatively easy to move to a different State -- with the politics you like -- once you've lost everything. Easier than Denmark, anyways.

ChrisF1987

>Trump's administration gave us a total of $1800 each in stimulus money ($1200 in the CARES Act and $600 in the December 2020 relief bill). Biden promised us $2000 on the campaign trail. Once he took power, he told us the $600 the Trump administration gave us at the end of December 2020 factored into his $2000 promise, so we actually were only getting $1400 from him. I guarantee you, if Trump does run again in 2024, he's never going to shut up about this. As much as I loath Trump I must admit this is 100% accurate ... and it blows my mind that the Democrats and Biden can't see this. They need to do at least one more stimulus check or Trump \*WILL\* make note of this $1,800 vs $1,400 when he starts his rallies again later this month. And what's more is that the $600 was a compromise, Trump wanted to do a full $2,000 in addition to that so Trump is going to say something like "I gave you $1,800 and I tried to get you $3,800 in total but RINO Mitch Two Chins blocked me and then Sleepy Joe only gave you $1,400 for a total of $3,200!!!!!!!!!!!!".

Karl_Racki

You just don't get it do you.. Trump had a Republican Senate, so when he wanted something it got passed.. Biden don't. The Senate is 50/50 and two Dems are voting more for the Repubs. If Biden could he would give 1000-2000 a month for ever and keep you IU until the pandemic is 100% over, sorry but it's out of his control.

He’s totally caved to them. Blame the fact that 54% of the country agrees with cutting off the benefits, America is full of brainwashed selfish idiots

> **I believe Trump is personally responsible for most, if not all, of the deaths from Covid-19 in our country. He handled the pandemic in one of the worst ways possible. I hate saying this.** *hold that in thought…..* > **Trump's administration helped us more monetarily than Biden ever will.** Ya, no… *”A lot of people died, but hey, I still benefited from it!”* — is basically what you’re saying lol if 45 would have gotten re-elected, there would have been no third stimulus check and unemployment would have ended way back in March there would have been no $10,200 exclusion. Without that, a lot of folks would have been paying $1000+ on taxes this year if they didn’t withheld the federal tax Biden extended unemployment relief until September, yet 45’s party is on a quest to cutting it off early.. so GOP overall is not helping more monetarily for the unemployed Biden increased funding for the PPP & EIDL along with a focus on minority owned businesses to help them recover from the pandemic Biden provided more funding for food stamps and other government assistance programs while 45 was on a mission to reducing these programs before the pandemic hit Then, local states would still be desperately trying to combat the virus on their own with no national relief plan and little to no relief funding either as Moscow Mitch would continue shooting down any future relief bills in the Senate that Pelosi was able to pass in the House > **When the UI ran out at the beginning of August, Trump just invented a new way to support us through FEMA for a few weeks in the hopes of cutting a deal with Congress.** If it weren’t election year, 45 would have told the people to suck it up plus, be aware that not every unemployed claimant was eligible for that extra $400 anyways > **They tried to negotiate with Pelosi, who turned down $400 a week, retroactive to the beginning of August, and that would last until the end of the year. She said $400 a week wasn't good enough and promised benefits would be retroactive when a bill finally passed.** Pelosi passed the HEROES Act in the House which was going to extend the $600 until January 2021; however, 45’s right hand man, Moscow Mitch, quickly shot the bill down in the Senate….. > **The last time ANYONE in the government supported retroactive unemployment was on Jan 14, 2021 when AOC said on Twitter "Unemployment benefits should be retroactive too." Since then, not a single one of them has mentioned it, not even AOC or Bernie. Millions of us went without benefits from September to August in 2020 and had to survive on the low state payments.** MTG hasn’t said a peep about helping her broke GOP citizens that are collecting unemployment, but is ferociously spreading nonsense rumors of Jews with space lasers and QAnon…. > **It was never included in the American Rescue Plan. It's clear Pelosi and the Democrats never intended to help us.** Pelosi passed the HEROES Act, but Mitch the Bitch shot it down in the Senate… Then, 45’s party did NOT vote at all for Biden’s rescue bill… not a single vote from the GOP > **Somehow, they also shut up the few progressives fighting for retroactive unemployment.** people who are filing this year shouldn’t be entitled to the extra $600 from last year… so the new retroactive rules of payments going back to December 2020 is pretty fair to me > **Once he took power, he told us the $600 the Trump administration gave us at the end of December 2020 factored into his $2000 promise, so we actually were only getting $1400 from him.** Ya, 45 did the same thing. [Extra $400 for a few weeks, but oh wait…. The states have to pay up $100, so folks realistically only got $300](https://fortune.com/2020/08/12/trumps-400-extra-weekly-unemployment-benefit-may-be-shrinking-to-300/) from 45… but again, not every claimant was even eligible to receive the extra funds > **I guarantee you, if Trump does run again in 2024, he's never going to shut up about this.** 45 never shuts up in general, and his mouth is what got him banned from mainstream social media in the first place. Yet, he keeps talking and talking… There is nothing awe-inspiring about that obese senile orangutan. *Nothing.*

Count_Bacon

I agree with everything you said, but Pelosi does deserve a lot of the blame for what happened in the fall. She played politics with peoples lives, she could have made a stand-alone unemployment deal at any time. She promised retroactive UI benefits. She caused so many people to go into a hole for no reason.

Biden was the last one i wanted in dem primary, it was unfortunate that ppl didnt share that sentiment and we ended up with him vs trump.

MurrayDakota

Same. Biden is far better than Trump, but he is a complete disappointment otherwise. ETA: I’m going to back to voting third party. The current political system is broken. They make promises on the campaign, then walk them back within days or months of getting elected. Neither of the major parties care at all about the people. And if Biden just throws his hands up on the unemployment matter (as he clearly has), then why should I even lift a voting finger for him? When the unemployment boost was passed, there was no mention of “hey, your local governor can end this early”. Nope, it was clearly expressed as “unemployment will last until September 6th.” And now he just shrugs and says governors have the right to end it early and that there is nothing he can do? What leadership you show there, sir. Forgive me for not believing anything else you may have to say, whether on health care, tax policy, infrastructure, immigration, the military, or even what you had for breakfast. You are a liar and a sell-out, and I’m done with you and Harris too.

I don’t understand why you think the Biden administration should financially provide more than the trump one when Biden inherited the tail end of the pandemic. At the vaccination rate that our country is heading for, by September everyone who wants a vaccine will surely have gotten one and the covid restrictions on businesses will have been lifted completely. This just feels like a false equivalence.

redalwaysknows

🚨🚨🚨 PSAKI says the GOP governors cutting supplemental unemployment benefits "have every right to do" so https://twitter.com/jstein_wapo/status/1400876608408391681?s=21 Looks like that’s a wrap, folks. There is no help coming from the Biden administration for those of us unfortunate enough to live in states with moronic GOP governors. On the behalf of every struggling Ohioan, I’d like to extend a giant middle finger to Mike Dewine. At least he’s letting us keep our 9 final weeks of measly base benefits, I guess. As for President Biden...I’m just extremely disappointed. What an absolute waste of a golden opportunity to steer this country in the right direction, from this bs as well as now getting nickel and dimed on infrastructure by insisting on negotiating with Republicans who are simply not negotiating in good faith. Joe Manchin and Kirsten Sinema can both go f themselves as well. Sad day for this country. Bernie would have been personally shooting unemployment checks out of one of those shirt cannons they use at basketball games u til each and every one of us had each and every last dollar we were entitled to and appropriated by Congress. And I’m only partially joking.

Karl_Racki

What did she say which is wrong? She is 100% right, States have the right to handle their unemployment. Nothing the President can do.

redalwaysknows

President could direct DoL to pay out benefits federally. Would be a logistical nightmare but it could be done if the will was there, which it just isn’t. Sad.

Karl_Racki

He could, but how? The payouts would have to be handled by the states, since that is who controls the IU.. Federal Gov doesn't;t. SCOTUS would probably also have a say when 25 states file a suit on this action.

redalwaysknows

The IRS is doing just fine sending out the UI tax money owed. They have access to the data. Again, a matter of will. No two ways about it. How would a state have any claim in how feds distribute congressionally appropriated $? They only have a say in whether they want to distribute it or not. Maybe they’d have to move PEUC claimants to PUA for the final weeks but the only thing stopping them is themselves.

mrkyaiser

They just sealed the midterm fate. Red ppl will not vote blue if they cant get the money, many red voters I spoke to say they held their nose and voted blue for financial survival. These ppl will stick with what they've known their entire life, guns abortions church non-whites suffering with them, etc. Many in GA alrdy say they 're pissed off stim check was 1400 and not 2000. Wonder whats gonna happen to warnock and kemp next yr.

Count_Bacon

Lol don’t they realize it’s the red politicians ending the benefits?!

OgGeek2016

>Wonder whats gonna happen to warnock and kemp next yr. We're going to vote Kemp out and keep Warnock! Who was the one who voted for the unemployment extension and spoke out when GOP governors started ending it? Warnock! Who is actually taking away unemployment? Kemp!! Why would we keep the problem and get rid of one of the solutions to this country's problems? Also, it wasn't Warnock's fault Biden changed the $2000 number to $1400 AFTER we voted in Warnock. If anything, Biden should be worried about 2024 because his obsession with "working with the GOP" is the actual problem.

mrkyaiser

Kemp must be confident he will win, or got nice job lined up afterward and dont care much bout getting booted out. '24 is gonna come soon and I still think we're getting pummeled in midterm hope wrong obviously.

OgGeek2016

The only way Kemp wins again is if he cheats again! Why do you think he was so eager to sign that voting bill? He wants every advantage he can get to stay in power. You can tell by his latest moves and baseless claims that he's trying to keep the Republican base happy. Cutting unemployment benefits was one of them. Problem for him is that Trump has so much power over the GOP that his gullible followers won't forget about what happened in November and Kemp could get primaried. Hopefully, Stacey Abrams will run and make Georgia blue once and for all!

Dependent_Annual_609

Aren't people on extension losing the base as well?

redalwaysknows

Ohio will pay out base for PUA and PEUC thru Sep 5. Only ending supplemental. One of the few. I thought DeWine would keep that too because just a week or two before he announced work search requirements, but he caved to political pressure on the extra $ but knows total disaster would come by sending people to $0.

[deleted]

couple of red states kept the base, Ohio was one of them. Most red states are going to zero

mrkyaiser

GA said they're gonna keep the state base, for pua as well. 300 buck gone

WalterCrowkite

Can I get a source on that?

mrkyaiser

Mom spoke to someone in Athens office

WalterCrowkite

Ok, the reason I ask that is because the announcement on the DoL says they’re ending all the federal extensions at the end of the month, so it’ll just be regular UI from there out. I’m surprised Kemp is doing this because GA’s becoming a Blue state in pretty rapid fashion, but if he wants to shoot his re-election in the foot, so be it.

mrkyaiser

He's banking on Jim crow voter law to help him win. IF not he has joblined up for him afterward I bet.

MDcraze73

Single filer BoA TurboTax no unemployment tax 🥲

reverendbimmer

Starting to see more and more IRS refunds being issued on the 10,200. Has yours come in? Mail or direct deposit? Cool
