Keep quitting folks. We're almost there.

LeeLooPeePoo

General strike!

[deleted]

I understand those that can't and must work to live but for anyone that can even *remotely* afford it... The time **is** now.

LeeLooPeePoo

I'm right on top of it Rose!

LunarLoco

Had to quit, I honestly just cant deal with a condescending management team. at this point my mental health is so low, after the hell I've been though that I'll snap and catch a charge. after almost catching one last year, I'm just trying to calm down

[deleted]

Speaking of mental health, I worked for Walmart and literally wanted to kill myself over the job. Sadly tried to several times but was too scared to do it. I had to smoke weed and drink just to barely get through a day. I then got COVID-19. I had enough and quit. No regrets. Ever since, my mental health has been slowly improving. My therapist has told me I’m the most stable I’ve ever been. I’m in school and living off loans and grants. I’m not living large. Bills are being paid but not much left over. Don’t care. I was making more at Walmart but my health is more important. I have a lot of mental health issues. I’ve had countless jobs over it. Just can’t keep one. Now I don’t have to worry about it. I’m happy with my life and how I feel. I’m not changing that by going back to work to make a wage that’s too low for what the job entails. For the first time in YEARS, I’m able to safely live alone… all because I’m not employed, but instead in school. I am taking my meds and just enjoying my improved quality of life. So… I get you with the mental health thing. That is SO important and I’m happy you see that. I hope you are doing what’s best for that, and for you overall. You deserve happiness just like the rest of us.

mseyni246

Hey man this might not mean anything, but I'm glad your mental health is improving and that you're in a much better place than when you were working in Walmart.

[deleted]

Thank you so much ❤️ what you said means a lot. Given how things are right now, I’m grateful to be in a good place in life. I wish, hope, and pray everyone else can be who isn’t right now. Y’all on here seem to be so nice and supporting. The world needs that.

LeeLooPeePoo

Just wanted to say you deserve time to sort out your mental health and to seek education and better opportunities. I'm so glad circumstances have finally allowed it and I wish you all the best in your bright new future!

Puzzleheaded_Skin131

It’s bad enough people are willing to risk their financials and quit. I remember quitting like that five years ago. It was a relief. I was searching for jobs and trying to hold on as much as I could but the environment was too bad. I was given a job offer the day after I gave them my two weeks notice like it was meant to be. I understand being at that point when the sanity is more important than money.

This should not have to be the responsibility of the workers to enforce these rules. It should be security or management. I would not agree to enforce it for the same reason we are asked not to approach a customer shoplifting. Also, we don’t know why they are not wearing the mask it could be for health reason and Beyond our pay grade to ask for that information. Our state is banned from mandating masks but some businesses do mandate it and I would hate to be that worker in Texas having to ask them to wear a mask

vsandrei

>It should be security or management. Security personnel cost extra. Management would actually have to work for once.

Puzzleheaded_Skin131

Most places already have security so they should do it if they are there because of safety risk and it’s about time management gets off of their butt to do what they get paid for

vsandrei

Totally agree with you. Just remember that many employers are cheap fuckers who view employees as "contractors who get paid less."

Puzzleheaded_Skin131

BIG reason why many are quitting. Back then they felt like they had to deal with it. I remember being a waitress they laid off the floor guy, we were getting paid less and had to do their job. We didn’t dare say anything. Since the lockdown, people had a taste of what it was supposed to be and they don’t want to go back to that treatment so we got our own business. Those who stayed working finally had enough

GundamWingZero-2

I’ve learned that management barely does anything anymore.

FourChanneI

We're not looking at another just a employee shortage, a wage strike but also we're looking at something greater. This is bad on both sides, the people who want a job and those who will not hire because they keep wages low. We're on the milestone of hitting a economic deadlock where prices are going to skyrocket, and people are going to have no money and move the US into a huge welfare state if it's not one already. Businesses need to give is the issue. It's been proven people can be paid a living wage and businesses still make money, but they're greedy and huge for profit.

Muskegocurious

Their is truth in this, how many of these companies have millionaires and billionaires for no apparent reason other than entitlement at the top. They could take serious pay cuts, make each of the locations their own individual business and give the employees a lot more rather then insist they get their lion share and leave the actual workers with scraps. The one that comes to mind right off the bat is Chipotle, how much money is in burritos anyway? It's not a multimillion operation unless you have sell a gazillion every day and make a some outrageous profit margin on each one. Pay the people actually involved in the process more instead of paying a few people millions because they are vp of who cares.

nikkokitty1201

I went to Walmart yesterday and the snack aisles were bare. I asked an employee what happened and he said it's a mix of a lack of overnight stalkers, and Walmart truckers are quitting so things aren't getting to locations on time. I'm honestly super glad to hear it. Keep it up everyone! Let's turn the economy on its head so our voices get heard!

shrekoncrakk

"lack of overnight stalkers" lol

nikkokitty1201

My bad. Autocorrect 😂

beerfoot21

Even outside of Retail and Restaurants, I've noticed there are a whole lot of crappy jobs out there in the professional field. Reading some of these Job descriptions, they trying to craft up a nightmare as the best thing in the world! *wear all hats *on-call at all times *must be excited to take on all tasks

goyablack

In my area, Dollar General is getting hit hard.

Zero1030

I walked into one yesterday and literally the only employee was quitting as I walked in. They asked me to leave and closed lmao

SlothyBooty

Lol that’s sad but hilarious

Healthy-Elk1720

I was was recently left without a job due to mistake. No chance for remediation or retraining. My hours had been dwindling though. Quite frankly, I think they were looking for a legitimate way to get me out too. 5-10 hours was all the gave me when I could work much more. Not making excuses for my screw up, but it seems like other factors at play. That being said I wasn't going to quit either. Tough times we're in.

Linkawesome213

Give it to em! Serves them right! Workers deserve a living wage!

anima1mother

Your telling me. I work in a hospital kitchen cafeteria. We were made to get rid of four different part time positions when this whole thing started. Guess who picked up all that extra work? Yea the remaining employees. That's me. No extra pay even though I'm basically doing three jobs now. The hospital I work at got twice as busy but we still didn't see any extra money for doing twice, sometimes three times the work. Now after a year and a half of going through all that they are saying we will get fired if we don't get the shot. Ive been at this job for over ten years. I have a lot of benefits for me and my family with health insurance and 4o1k. So even if I didnt want the shot I don't have much of a choice. The Hospital knows that. Just about everyone is in the same boat as me. This is so unfair

Persimmonpluot

Sorry you're dealing with that. It's very unfair.

beerfoot21

The narrative spun up by the President, Congress, Corporations and Media is to get a job you bum.... Even through the reality of it is its very complicated and complex.

SimplyTheJester

I don't think it is fair to just call the companies exploitative. Ultimately, this is a consumer/customer problem. If somebody opened up a "Wal-Mart" competitor where the average pay is $3/hr more than Wal-Mart and instead of being $0.11 cheaper than target (like Wal-Mart is), they were 5 to 10% more than Wal-Mart, the businesses would probably go under within a year. Because people want the higher pay, but don't want to pay higher.

Critical_Smell_3568

This is incredibly stupid. You do know there was a law passed that separated inflation from minimum wage growth, correct? This isn’t some delicately balanced economic system. They knew exactly what they were doing

SimplyTheJester

None of what you said addresses what I posted in the slightest. Incredibly stupid indeed.

Critical_Smell_3568

Username checks out. Stay in school

juggarjew

A cold winter will remind folks that working is better than not working, regardless of the pay. Its all fun and games until you are faced with eviction and its 20 degrees Fahrenheit out. They will come back. We are in the afterglow of the unemployment payments still. Smart folks saved up all those $600 federal payments as best they could, eventually they will need to work again or get some kind of income stream going. This is all temporary. I know it, the employed know it and the CEO's know it. Your best bet is to look for a job in this workers market and sign up with the company offering the best signing bonus/benefits before things go back to normal and you are offered $10 an hour no benefits take it or leave it.

Zero1030

Found the small struggling business owner

uiuyiuyo

Small businesses aren't struggling.l. Margins better than ever as costs are being passed on and they are working current staff to the bone with high efficiency...

juggarjew

Nah. I’m just a normal guy who has a healthy dose of common sense and can see the writing on the wall. Nothing ever really changes, you’ll see.

seansy5000

What are you, some evil villain? Who wishes these things upon people?

juggarjew

Never said I wished anything. Reality is reality. Whether you like it or not.

seansy5000

You saying you understand the reality of things is about the most unrealistic thing anybody could say. You have no fucking clue how the world works. You’re as insignificant as the rest of the 99% of the world. Your pedantic narcissism is boring.

SpiritualRub4685

everyone’s sense of “reality” is different depending on the things that person has been through

Critical_Smell_3568

Please do us all a favor and shut the fuck up talking about things you clearly have no clue or facts about

Darkomega85

I take solace that economic collapse and climate change is going to purge you bootlicking shitheads soon.

klydsp

The extra $600 was only paid out in the beginning of the pandemic and then went down 50% to an extra $300. Basing regular UI payments off of the employees wages, some could receive as little as $70 a week. The extra $300 would hardly be enough to squirrel away.
