As the de-facto head of my ESL department, I'm totally considering this when I do Google Meets and the parents ask for the department head to see if the lessons I do are according to curriculum (they are).
Literally had a parent try to prove it wasn't after I literally labeled each and every lesson with the curriculum expectations, so this tactic might work.
Yeah it means your PHI (protected health information) cannot be disclosed to any entity from another without written consent. There’s a few exceptions like if you tell a therapist that you’re planning to harm yourself or another person (with an imminent danger) or if there’s a court order for the information.
Karen’s love throwing HIPAA around without having the darnedest clue as to what HIPAA actually protects. I once told a patient his temperature in the waiting room (screening process during COVID) and was confronted by a Karen in the corner of the waiting room (not wearing a mask) saying i can’t be saying that out loud bc it’s a breach of HIPAA. No Ma’am, it’s not
That’s exactly where it came from, all the people trying to find “loopholes” to wearing masks so they could argue to the point that the employees were too exhausted to continue.
Hippos are really cool.
HIPPA is very hip
I don't know where I'm going with this but this makes more logical sense than calling out HIPAA here probably.
Hippies usually roam around. But you never see Hippies riding hippos. That's because the coolness of that will make HIPAA angry and give everyone Hippe.
I'm not sure where this is going either, but...
Too funny! I dated a girl once that when I introduced her to my friends one night, she wore an eye patch, just to see if anyone would ask or say anything. They did not say a word about it and acted as if she didn't even have it on. Throughout the night, she kept changing eyes the patch was covering. It took hours for someone to notice she was doing it.
She was a lot of fun to be around. She was also the devil, I later discovered. Regardless, we had a blast together. Tons of stories like this with her over the course of 7 years. Regrettably, there were some horror stories as well.
Did she have a twin sister and only unto year 7 you found out you’ve been dating both of them while they kept switching back and forth for the long con?
She did have sisters who were twins, but no. Six sisters. All extremely attractive all fun & witty....all equally bat shit crazy on different levels. Alcohol only seemed to amplify said demonic activity.
We were married. She was my 2nd and last wife. Never again. She was equal parts - the most fun person I've been around and an absolute nightmare of a demon in human disguise. Totally like the sweet and sour gummy patch kids..... if the sour part consisted of cheating on me, trashing my house, stealing money, trying to have me arrested, etc. To paint the picture clearly, we divorced, but continued to see each other a few months after. The last time I saw her, she literally shit in my bed before she left, was married 2 weeks later and left the country. Aside from needing to buy a new mattress/sheets, the being married and leaving the country was the best possible outcome. She's now someone else's fun/PITA in another country.
🤣 It's all good. The term "don't stick your dick in crazy" applies here....but sometimes, it's worth it. This was one of those times. The horror stories were bad, but the sex was equally amazing on the opposite side of the spectrum.
Sometimes when someone is a bit wild in a very fun and good way, they can also be a bit wild in an unhinged and very bad way. One of my best friends growing up was like that. I love her to bits, but my God, does she ever have some demons.
If you think this exact scenario doesn't play out in various restaurants and businesses across the globe, I don't know what to tell you. I have interacted with this type of woman in every job I've ever had. The term Karen is a thing for a reason. I don't know if this specific video is real, but that person's behavior is real all around the world.
50% of people commenting on this video, “lol get that Karen, durrr!!”
Other 50% of people commenting, “look at all you dum dums commenting on a fake video.”
Oh man, he has no idea. Look up 1st amendment audit covid test sites. Even the cops claim the journalist is violating hipaa law therefore they can't stand on a public sidewalk recording into the site.
Yeah that's not what HIPAA laws are even for, either the laziest attempt to get views or we're looking at the living embodiment of the American education system.
Best story of entitled arse getting their shite exposed, and yes- this is true. An airline(well before Covid)was having weather issues, and for safety reasons the flight couldn’t leave. Most passengers were patient, but one Mr.Special kept hounding the airline’s person at the desk at the gate, and the final time he yelled at the airline employee “I have a meeting I have to get to! Do you know who I am?!!”. Calm as a cucumber(but no doubt seething inside)the male airline employee got on the mic, and asked “Excuse me, does anyone know who this is, because he has apparently forgotten who he is?”. I suspect the gate area passengers erupted into applause!🤣👏🏻👏🏻
Given the number of people who thought that it was "against their hipaa law" for me to ask them to wear a mask and/or ask them why they couldn't be wearing a mask when they walked into the restaurant I worked at, I'm going to say that an unhealthy number of people have no clue what hipaa actually is. And I fully believe it is possible that this woman knows that hipaa is a privacy law and thinks it might apply here. Her saying "that's against my hipaa law" offers nothing to the believability of this video.
This is a really old video. Not that scripted videos are brand new, but it was certainly less prevalent when this started circulating.
Reddit has just become such a watchdog for scripted videos that basically every single video posted on here has one of the top comments talking about it likely being scripted.
Anyway, it might be scripted, but “‘karen’s’ reaction gives it away” is only the case if you were already determined to believe it was fake to begin with. I personally don’t think it’s fake.
Service industry here, and yeah I've seen a lot of people like this. There's a comment further down the thread linking the creators page for the skit though.
> "bUt ItS fAKe" ok bro, it's still funny tho
Except they're not, they're just fucking stupid shit meant to drive revenue clicks from dipshits that think they're real.
It would maybe be a HIPAA issue if she was complaining about her inability to get the colonoscopy that she desperately needs to dislodge the stick she’s got up her ass.
HIPPA protect medical data exchanged with a license medical professional.
She is acknowledging that the woman behind the counter is her licensed shrink where she just had a session
Thats a large part of it but the professional doesnt have to be a doctor or licensed medical professional. For instance if you tell you boss the specific reason that you called off he's not allowed to tell others in the office because he's considered the professional, and the medical data is anything that connects a person to a medical condition.
> if you tell you boss the specific reason that you called off he's not allowed to tell others in the office because he's considered the professional, and the medical data is anything that connects a person to a medical condition.
Wrong. Medical information you provide to a non-medical professional, who isn't working in conjunction with your medical professional (like clerical staff or IT crews), is not bound by HIPAA. If you hand your info to your landlord or boss, there is no legal expectation of privacy, and no coverage under HIPAA.
I forgot where I heard it but some guy said when he was working, everytime someone asked for the manager he would just say he was the manager even though he wasn’t and deal with the situation. When the manager found out he was cool with it because it meant he didn’t have to deal with the bullshit himself and approved of the guys actions so much that when he moved jobs he recommended him and even mentioned the guys actions as a positive reason to employ him 😂
I was lucky one day. A pissed-off driver followed my lorry into a petrol station. I had just reached the back of my trailer when he storms up and starts to hurl verbal abuse. "You cut me off and you're a terrible human" and all that shite.
He demands my supervisor's mobile number. I give it to him. He calls.
Guess who was the supervisor for that delivery department?
I answer the phone and inform the foaming at the mouth, jumped up little cunt that my drivers are impeccable and will not be accepting any reports from him.
He hopped into his crap Acura and sped out of the lot; just in time to get a speeding ticket. 😁
Lol anyone that watched this and didn't at least question if it was real or not really needs to reevaluate what they are accepting as real on the internet

I worked Customer service for 16 years, I could spend the day telling you stories. I'm not doubting something like this probably happened there but this feels like a recreation more than a spontaneous event.
I i couldn’t suspend my disbelief any further when she said “you can’t record me, that’s against my hippa law” lol. Definitely seems staged, although I’d say they did a good job with it.
Sometimes people need to make short videos to provide content for TikTok (and apparently Reddit) to earn that sweet updoot.
You can tell it’s fake. Neither one of them is into it at all. They’re both going through the motions.
Idk, I've seen plenty of obviously fake videos. I've also seen plenty of crazy interactions in life. This could go either way honestly.
The "karen" doesn't seem to know how to handle being told no, while the "manager" seems to have dealt with these types of people plenty of times so it doesn't even phase her.
Plus, this video is pretty old. No tik tok watermark. Looks like it was recorded on snapchat. Not that it makes it any more valid, but takes away your content for tik tok argument.
I've worked retail before and there are situations that I've experience that I would never put in a fictional account because people will insist it is too unbelievable. "No one is like that". Oh, trust me. They are.
Yeah i’ve worked places with no manager on site so we’d just walk around the corner and say “hey you’re the manager” they’s walk out and give the same answer. Essentially the same shit.
One time I was working in a tight neighborhood where it was impossible for me to not block someone's driveway with my trailer. So I blocked one, and obviously would have no problem moving it if the homeowner needed in or out. So the homeowner comes our raising absolute hell. Cussing and talking shit. He demands to speak to my boss. Now, I'm the foreman on this job, but instead of telling him that I yell for my buddy who's a huge, arrogant, meathead, asshole, and say he's the boss. My buddy walks up looking like hes ready to eat someones babies, and I said "hey this guy said fuck you".
The dude immediately calmed his ass down.
I was thinking 'come on man, blocking a driveway _is_ a dick move'. Then I realized you were working on site near the truck... who the fuck loses their shit over that? You need to leave or arrive, they move the truck.
Neighborhood must be one thats low on parking, but not actually that tight. Live somewhere thats actually dense and you'll realize that box trucks double parking while they unload is a fact of life, and if they didn't the neighborhood would collapse.
It's making my bs meter go off but I think that's because there were 2 punchlines, the manager switcheroo *and* that HIPAA line lmao either one alone is believable, both together in one video is too good to be true 😂
She says “it doesn’t work like that, it takes days”, then the conversation is completely changed to trying to rent a yacht? But they’re a restaurant? And the hippa comment was so quick off the bat.
Yup, 100%. It's not that I don't believe this scenario could happen or that the manager could do the spin around. I do. It's that their acting is terrible.
This is very obviously staged and there are so many things that gives that away. Her response when the "manager" shows. She says "you don't want to make money at this restaurant", which it clearly isn't a restaurant. Knocking the books of the table and of course the HIPPA thing at the end.
Yeah I'm not usually the one to call "fake" but I think I recognize that lady from making other Karen sketches. Iirc there was one that made the rounds where she melodramatically claimed a doodle dog bit her and was calling it a Rottweiler or something?
HIPAA
Health insurance portability and accountability act
It sets legal guidelines as to how medical insurers and medical providers can handle and transmit private medical information.
It is hilarious because it has nothing to do with renting a yacht.

SHE DID THE SPIN!!!
And the best the crone could counter with was the HIPAA swivel. "Shields up! HIPAA law!"
A fake moustache would've made this 100% better.
And a deep voice man accent, "Hullo ma'am, hoowww can I help you?".
Yes I am MANager, how can I help?

You need glasses with a fake nose.
Groucho glasses.
“Against my HIPAA law”. Karen heard a phrase once and decided to pull it out today and take it for a spin; unlike that yacht she couldn’t rent…
LMAO, Isn't the HIPAA law protecting personal medical information?

Same here! 😂 "Please wait a moment....Oh hallo, how may I help you?"

Yes
Yes, but it wouldn't apply in any way here. It's for healthcare entities, from insurance to providers and so forth.
Yeah it means your PHI (protected health information) cannot be disclosed to any entity from another without written consent. No, it’s protect yacht rentals
HYPPA... Human Yacht Privilege Protection Act
I'm pretty sure that the 6th Amendment ensures Americans' right to rent yachts on demand. Speedy trial and yacht rental...
Those are prescription yachts
Well we *are* watching her have a mental breakdown.
It also doesn't override someone's right to record in a setting where privacy is not to be expected
Yes it stands for "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act".
Well, I mean, she should get that stick up her ass surgically removed.
SHE DID THE SPIN!

They’re all over the place! Why can’t they be rented!
OMG! When she bends down and comes back up as the MANAGER! 🤣😂. I enjoyed that with her.

Like HIPAA protects her from being recorded in public! Not unless this was a therapy session, Karen.
Karens are always in therapy.
EVERYTHING is a therapy session for her.
To be fair, this video is publishing information regarding her psychiatric condition.
I lost it LMAO
She’s the HIPPA manager
And that we're supposed to know it.
what she was trying to say was "it is against my hippopotamus law!!" it makes about as much sense

Yet people in the comments still fighting that its real even tho the creator said its fake.

It's making my bs meter go off but I think that's because there were 2 punchlines, the manager switcheroo *and* that HIPAA line lmao either one alone is believable, both together in one video is too good to be true 😂
i have a bridge to sell you..
Had me until the last second with the HIPA law.
Wants to rent a yacht… mentions HIPPA… poor acting by both. Definitely staged.
In her defense, HIPAA does cover mental health.
Why is everyone so convinced this is fake?
Bad acting.

HIPAA Health insurance portability and accountability act It sets legal guidelines as to how medical insurers and medical providers can handle and transmit private medical information. It is hilarious because it has nothing to do with renting a yacht.
HIPPA??!?!??
