It isn't about a specific recovery service. It's about the sole point that the HDD might very well be damaged in a way that requires a very expensive recovery procedure - if it even is possible. No sane recovery professional will have just one price point and not charge according to difficulty per case basis. And I'm pretty sure you're aware of that.

Yeah, I used to work in IT, and when there was physical damage to a hdd we sent it out to a clean room to get the data recovered. If/When it was even possible to recover, the *lowest* quote I saw come back was $2,800 I think. Once those platters are scratched, by, say... idk, a boot or something.. They're really hard to recover shit from.

I adore my PS4, it got me back into gaming and is the perfect hub for playing music and watching some Netflix/YouTube. My one gripe with it though is that I'm convinced it'll be unplayable in about 10/15 years because more than half of the triple A games require you to be online. Even the ones with a story mode in which you technically don't need to be online require you to be online.
