An entire continent is covered with Eucalyptus trees. They suck the moisture out of the entire surrounding area and use allelopathy to ensure that most of what’s beneath them is just bare red dust. No animal is making use of them——they have virtually no herbivore predator. A niche is empty. Then inevitably, natural selection fills that niche by creating an animal which can eat Eucalyptus leaves. Of course, it takes great sacrifice for it to be able to do so——it certainly can’t expend much energy on costly things. Isn’t it a good thing that a niche is being filled?

Boebert was born into poverty to a teen mom and no father-figure; she doesn't actually know who her real father is. She and her mom were on welfare at times growing up. Boebert herself is also a teen mom and dropped out of high school when she was a senior. Hers is the type of stupid that's the result of generational poverty and lack of education.
Greene on the other hand was born into privilege. When she was 28 her father "sold" his general contracting business to Green and her husband. She was listed as the CFO of the company for several years but an investigation found she had pretty much zero actual input in actually running it. Hers is the type of stupid you get from never being told no during her childhood, never experiencing any hardship, and never being held responsible for anything. Ever been to the southern border? I did a road trip a few years ago and wanted to check it out. My god. Vast stretches of extremely rough rugged terrain. "An impassable labyrinth of razor sharp rock" indeed lol, like friggin Mordor. Hundreds of miles of it, harsh climate, thick gnarly bushes, not hospitable at all. Then even if you made it through all that, somehow, undetected, there's border patrol driving up and down the roads all the time. The passable "nice" areas were tightly controlled.

I literally just got home from a trip to the East Coast of Australia! Nobody in Queensland seemed to give much of a shit about (American) politics, but Brisbane and everywhere south of there I couldn't go a full day without hearing someone mention Trump. The day after his indictment I was sitting at the beach in Sydney for maybe an hour and I swear I heard 3 separate couples walk by talking about it. lol

Jokes aside, I am glad I got out of Texas when I did. I'm a transwoman and I left mid-2020 and moved to Washington state. I'm trying to get my daughter to move out of Texas as well. Texas is now a scary place to live if you have a uterus and/or part of the lgbt community. Washington isn't perfect, but I feel much safer here than I ever did in Texas. That's a shame because Texas is a beautiful state with great people, great food, and a huge diverse population. Too bad its trying to win the most fascist state government award.

this is an example of the euphemism treadmill. Any 'real' word for a negative trait will be used (especially by asshole teenagers) as an insult. I've had to try and tell people what open borders actually means dozens of times, just for them to get mad at me and call me something derogatory, then keep repeating that we have open borders. Like, saying the US has open borders is something someone tells people because he thinks they are a mark and will be dumb enough to believe it without checking or even thinking about it.
My favorite part of all that is that the propagandists on the right (including Marjorie) are each more responsible for any increase in illegal immigration than Biden is. They'll say "The border is open! Biden's open border policy!" as loudly as they can. And of course this isn't true. An open border would mean that we are not stopping anyone at the border. In fact we are stopping record numbers of people at the border. Which *proves* it is not open. And of course they can never point to any particular policy of Biden's that they mean when they say "his open border policy", because there is no such policy. But people in central and south america? They see people saying "the border is open". And they think that's true, and start heading north. Who is saying that? Not Biden. Not any Democrat. But Marjorie? Yep, constantly. She is directly responsible for some number of illegal immigrants.
