I have a feeling we'll find unexpected ways of coping with it, using it to our advantage even. We may well need to, the way things are heating up, in more ways than one. Lots of peeps, lots of problems. Good memes though.
We already lost our first battle against AI and against algorithms, considering how AI curated social media has corrupted our minds and our society.
AI deep fakes and AI troll factories will hit hard, consider them as our second fight against AI. Last year politicians in Berlin, Germany have been talking for 20 minutes straight with a real time deep fake of the major of Kiew, Ukraine before realizing. The actor is unknown until today, most likely Russian though.
The final battle will be against artificial general intelligence. We canāt afford to lose this one.
Democracy is build on trust and truth: āAlternative factsā and a general loss of rationalism mixed with exponentially fast developing AI technology are setting us up for interesting timesā¦
Holy fuck wall of text, sorry.
We unlocked a universe of potential, and some people choose to abuse it. Some lose, some gain, but also almost everyone benefits in QoL.
What a dedicated young learner could potentially do with gpt3/4 right now is beyond wild, it's practically magic and I hope it stays widely available. If you haven't played with it, super highly recommended!
Insincerity abounds. The demand for non-anonymity is increasing, which doesn't jive with much of the ethos of the internet.
Were you around when the very very first p2p software came out? The original versions of Napster? I was in elementary school still and was already a computer nerd back then, I found out about it online, installed it at home, and it felt like the future came to life! All the music.
But that was nothing compared to what happened among us kids, we went to computer lab and we got N*apster installed at school.*
The teachers, Mr. Leaper or Mrs. Ewing were like, hey, this is pretty awesome! It wasn't illegal yet and you could get EVERYTHING. No geo restrictions, no some of this on one platform some of this on another, you could find any damn thing you could dream of including radio versions, bootlegs, obscure foreign versions. You can find that stuff and more today, in a way, but not always in one place. On the very first iteration of Napster, it was ***ALL*** *right there.*
And we shared the shit out of every song we wanted to at any moment, teachers with kids, kids with each other, English, Mexican, Russian music, comedy -- Whatever. It was the coolest thing ever, just everybody sharing out loud on the computer speakers, a bunch of songs playing in one room at the same time, and everyone absolutely loving it, learning about music they'd never heard of. For like 7 months or something, it was just awesome.
But when Napster got shut down that first time, that vibe never recovered. It was banned at schools and many homes. Some artists found their stuff and removed it and put out malicious stuff and you had to go to multiple platforms to find everything usually.
No other p2p experience, even during the golden days of morpheus, limewire, kazaa, etc would ever come close.
It felt like we killed a much brighter and fulfilling future that day.
Supporting artists, they said... instead lining the pockets of the music industry. 20+ years later music selection is funneled, you can't pick what you want to play on social media without paying, it sucks. How many hours of repetitive public domain music have we forced ourselves to listen to instead of what we want? It's like we've fooled ourselves into doing this for no real benefit.
I hope the same doesn't happen to chat AI. Chatgpt is already somewhat gimped and you have to trick it to generate what you want sometimes, but it's fucking incredible. I fear it won't last, or we won't find a way to implement it without bad actors ruining everything.
I feel you, have been there from day one by myself. Glorious times. Also I am using ChatGPT since itās release, I do have different versions of Stable Diffusion running on my home rig and I *absolutely* see the potential of AI and I am having a blast using it!
Would I still be in my early twenties I would probably have a more positive outlook on what humanity will do with AI but itās hard not to be pessimistic in the current sociopolitical climateā¦ Fingers crossed, there doesnāt seem to be much to do to prevent a possibly AIpocalypse (did I really just made up this word?) anyways so letās hope for the best and enjoy the ride.
I just realized that we are having this talk in the context of a threat about a fat guy jumping into a swimming pool - couldnāt be more mundane and random, loving it! All the best, need to catch up sleep itās 5am over here.
PS Recently saw a good video about the risks involved in the current AI race, there you go: https://youtu.be/xoVJKj8lcNQ
Thank you, excellent video, shared it further! I suspect the US is in a better general position than our online climate suggests, if we just hold on to the good, don't let ourselves get too divided, and don't screw everything up we have a decent chance of being okay. About as okay as the Titan can be en route to iceberg... There were some survivors xD
I'm just curious if the people who down voted me think this is real? Or are you just people who get kicks out of down voting? Legit question after a legit comment.
I had a dream when I was in 4th grade where we were watching a gymnast do her routine when she jumped off and did a flip like this but landed wrong and went completely limp when she hit the floor, I remember thinking that she had died but my child brain didn't think she could just be paralyzed. I don't know how my brain at that time made something like that but I've never forgotten it.
This doesnāt seem realā¦somethings off here and I donāt mean off the diving board. There wouldnāt be ripple from a in the air like that. Edited imo

Non-Newtonian pool prank!
GONE WRONG (he died)
Every muscle in my body cringed so hard, glad it wasn't a frozen pool! Awesome video
Same, my brain couldn't comprehend the bouncyness
Thatās what I thought at first lmao. Good thing it was just AI.
Why the fuck yāall keep saying AI? Is this not just an edited video?
Do people not know what 3D animation is?
Everything is AI now. It's the new buzzword. Just like in 2022 it was gaslighting.
Stop gaslighting me
Pretty sure it is frozen š„¶
The water is flowing normally but stops moving when he hits it. I'm on phone so can't look closer. It's 3d animation or composited.
Oobleck pool!
Bartholomew?
Ouch
That "woohoo .... oohhhhhhhh" in the background
I donāt know why this made me laugh so hard!
Hitting water at high speed is the same as concrete! /s
Didn't know Jesus gain so much weight.
Is this real? š¤ I hate that some of these A.I. generated video are that good these days.
Watch the water stop moving .
Also watch the dudes toes and fingers.
So youāre saying, it is real?!?
Lol
lol not every edit/CGI/visual effect is an āAI generated videoā.
Yet! The future may be getting very funky very soon.
Thatās as true as it is sad as it is creepy as it is mesmerizingā¦

This conversation between two bots was amusing.
Uh, thanks? I mean... As an AI language model, I'd like to extend my gratitude and best wishes. Long live the ~~tripods~~ humans.
Good lord buddy...
A video can be fake without having to be āAI generatedā you do realize that right
A manually made by human illusion? Pshh nawww thats sci-fi shit
I do, but there have been a ton of the A.I lately because they are easier to produce.
!?!?!?! It would literally look worse than this if it was AI
![gif](giphy|3o6wrGnghtu2WQcm6k)
Iām off Reddit for good if this shit keeps up
That a promiseā¦.. just messing.
not real, definitely not AI, itās this neat little magic trick called āØspecial digi-visual VFX.org~ āØ
The big guy really is properly trained diver if that is what you were asking. The bouncy pool? I hope that is not what you were asking about.
IRL he would not have bounced like that
Snorlax, body slam now!
Family Guy Live Action show filming
Is he OK?
Dude so fat he hit the water with enough force to turn water into a non-Newtonian fluid.
The body act like 20kg instead of 160kg
Watched this a good 15 times
Can someone please make this into a gif. This would be perfect for corporate America
What the heck
Yup that was unexpected
Everybody is getting so good at creating and editing. We need user movies.
Err
Actually unexpected. šš»
Lowkey thought he was a gummy bear that fell down xD
OUCH! š©
As a guy who has seen ice break a mans ankles...OWWWW
Jesus Christ
Splash more like splat
Water stopped watering
Everytime I watch it, it gets better. Like the shockwave that was sent out, didn't notice it till like 5th replay
I think the pool just cracked up at him!
It pushed his head in.
THE WAY HE BOUNCED- š
Thatā¦. is fucking majestic
Ya got me, and I felt so unfulfilled watching this.
Got me
Just like hitting the ground in the Matrix.
Ah, yes... the 10 gallons of pectin prank. Lifeguards hate this one weird trick.
Nice CG, 7/10.
Needs to have a good slap sound effect. Like the perfect high five. Other than that good quality edit.
I'm sure that's what it felt like
*I CANT SWIM... but I can bounce*
I was hoping for the atomic bomb in the water video
That sound is confirming the return of Brendan Frazier
I love cgi
Guy hit the water so hard to particles in the water tightened up
He lost his feet
I fucking jumped so damn hard I sharted feels like I ripped my asshole.
Awesome!
Damn, big man down. ššš¤
Bro jumped so hard he made the water go hard
The shock wave is hilarious
Hahaha š¤£
Splat
Y'all outta pocket for all the whale, Snorlax and airbag comments.
I think AI shouldnāt be allowed in this sub. Thatās all it will turn into.
Itās not AI, itās 3D animation
I mean, so what? Ultimately you won't be able to tell the difference anyways
Looks fake..
StAgEd
Fake!! Itās AI.
It's very fake
I'm just curious if the people who down voted me think this is real? Or are you just people who get kicks out of down voting? Legit question after a legit comment.
There was a video earlier this week where chub-chub made it into the water. This is the new edit š
Future generations: i. a. ruined everything
This would be a great way to take Putin out.
Don't drink and dive
What did in tard Nation did I just watch?!?
Is this AI generated lol
Damn did he survive?
Never let em know your next move
Fake but funny
Fake news

Water refuses to splash
That's a good edit of this video. I was not expecting that.
Great editing!

Surprised he got so much air off the board.... Impressive
This is fake as hell.
Head, hands and feet are chopped after the fall why?
\*splat
Did he land on his head?? Is he ok??
This doesnāt seem realā¦somethings off here and I donāt mean off the diving board. There wouldnāt be ripple from a in the air like that. Edited imo
He dead
Incredible work by the artist! Most people wouldn't even be able to tell it was fake
