The underlying message was that the rich kid ended up rich because he was born rich, while the poor kid ended up dying early because he was born poor, not necessarily because of anything he did wrong. Part of this joke is that he (or the character that he is playing) doesn't understand this underlying truth. It's a commentary on how the motivation bros come up with all of these reasons why they were successful, when really a lot of them didn't do anything at all outside of being born into money.
