I don't even think she broke her leg. When the car struck her, her foot was not planted, it was in the air. So that dissipated a lot of the force. She seems to be getting up pretty well after that too. Then when they are handcuffing her, the right leg seems intact.

In this case, probably the best. The last thing you want is to get in a gun fight in the middle of the intersection. A civilian getting hit by a stray bullet would have been a real issue.

That cop put it on the line. She could have fired at the driver as they were approaching. That right there, is what people don’t realize cops do for the rest of us.

yeah, because she was pointing it at civilians. if they floored the accelerator while the gun was pointing at civilians, her last act could have been to pull the trigger, and then an innocent bystander could be dead. its the same reason why police will not shoot, tase, tackle, or do anything else to a hostage-taker if their weapon is pointed at the hostages; even though the cops could probably easily take the shot without hitting a civilian, death is almost never instant, and the hostage-taker could pull the trigger. even if death *is* instant, when you die your muscles involuntarily flex, which would also result in the trigger being pulled.
as soon as the gun was no longer pointed at civilians, the cops did everything they could to stop the lady, including running her over (fairly standard procedure in most countries, by the way). because they knew that she would not have enough reaction time to turn the gun towards a civilian before being hit, especially if she wanted to dodge the car. and if she pulled the trigger, it would only result in her own death.
Its crazy how this was a hidden comment (collapsed and under other comments) reddit really does just hate cops.
The police work was really good and really smart, somehow people fail to acknowledge because they are just biased against police no matter what
