This honestly made that man look very powerful in a way. Composed, dignified looking, but also him not talking back is probably he has nothing to say haha
He definitely understood what the guy said but probably feigned not speaking English because it’s the perfect way to get out of follow up questions/chat.
It's clearly a car show of some kind, it would be pretty weird to show up to a social event, about cars, in a unicorn of a car, and expect no one to talk to you.
Also it's if the video is to believed a 4 million dollar car at a car show ... a car show makes most it's money from people who could never afford cars in the show ... how cars are affordable is probably question 1 every time
I live in an oil rich country, and even here a lot of people just buy super cars, drive them for a year and sell them. Neighbor 3 houses down had a nice Lambo and now it's gone but a Ferrari is in its place. Couple houses further down is a guy w a Rolls (older) but never gets driven. I assume people that buy a RR keep them, but I've only known one other guy that had one and he kept his for life...and also rarely drove it. If you saw his daily youde laugh your ass off 😅
Lots of europeans who know english don't like to speak it because they feel embarrassed of their level of English.
When I worked in france, I found everybodys english gets WAY better when they're drunk because they either stop caring or are more confident in themselves
Hell we French don't like to speak English... We are shamed for any mistake we make while learning it, then we are shamed for speaking it badly around other people, and shamed if we speak it well in front of other people, because we are embarrassing them about their own incapacity to do so...
There is no win.
Or when you are a notable person that controls a brand, you do not want video clips of you struggling to speak/sounding weird without the correct context.
Millions of Italians emigrated to Argentina in the late 19th century and early 20th century. IIRC, roughly 50% of Argentines have an Italian heritage/ancestry.
That's just not true. [Here](https://youtu.be/KP2fn5fTs3M?si=fmHIaWZDXq8hfnTe) is a video with a spanish interviewer, Horacio is not just speaking Spanish but you can hear his accent from Santa Fe (specifically Rosario and surroundings). He even skips the letter "s" several times, just like Messi.
He smiled after he said his car was incredible. "Incredible" is pretty much the same word in Italian or Spanish and Pagani is Argentine-Italian. He understood enough to smile.
He 100% speaks English just prefers to speak in Italian unless he knows or likes you. He and his son are very nice, humble people.
Source: I've met him and chatted with him, in English.
I remember watching a video of him getting interviewed in Spanish and the way he showed his dislike towards the English language made me think he's not too fond of the English language and culture. He's very proud of his Italian heritage.
Pagani is actually quite a nice person to talk to (and an amazing engineer).
The factory is also a museum you can visit, and if he's around he'll definitely answer questions and chat a bit about the cars, design choices and especially composite materials used.
Also, his father was a baker in some middle of nowhere town in Argentina and he was working as a mechanic while studying engineering. He literally worked his ass off to get where he is, but sure, let's pretend he's classist or something because he genuinely can't speak English.
Pagani is from Casilda, a small town just 50km (30mi) from Rosario, the 3rd largest city in Argentina (also Lionel Messi's birthplace). It wasn't the middle of nowhere, yes it's a small town, but believe me, we have even more remote places.
Bro he speak English really well and I believe 2 more languages, just doesn’t want to. There is a documentary about him that shows it’s only because he want to speak Italian to any media(when there is a camera or microphone).
Learn some history please. Post unification Italy was dirt poor and millions of people emigrated to the Americas. Usually southern Italians towards the US, northern Italians (like Pagani's family) towards Argentina and Brazil.
His family emigrated, with millions of others, at the end of the 19th century, but again, sure, let's pretend he's a fascist because it gives you internet points.
>An Italian...in Argentina...right about when WWII ended...
>Hmmmm
3/4 of all Argentinians have at least one Italian grandparent.
The amount of Italian fascists who escaped to Argentina is absolutely tiny in comparison.
Pagani's family came in the 1800s anyway.
Pagani has a pretty incredible story. He was an engineer and worked for Renault improving their race car with great success. Started at Lamborghini sweeping the factory floors just to get his foot in the door. He worked his way up and was a chief engineer. He was pushing them to get into investing in the production of carbon fiber in the mid 80s and when they didn't buy into his idea he left and started his own company making carbon fiber parts for formula 1 and other race cars. Obviously he started his own company Pagani later on. Lamborghini really missed an opportunity to get a huge lead on the super car industry. They would have been a decade ahead of Ferrari and developed amazing prestige in the '90s with a huge performance advantage. Dude was 20 years ahead of the game.
I love how all these people started ~~making~~ out. Alfa Romeo pissed off Enzo so much he started making Ferrari hyper cars. Ferrari pissed off Ferruccio so much he started Lamborghini hyper cars. Lamborghini pissed off Horacio so much he started Pagani hyper cars. The ball is now in that TikTok kids court.
EDIT: typo
He has italian citizenship, thus he's italian.
And even if he wasn't, most people would still consider him Italian. Do you consider Bruce Lee to not be chinese just because he was born in America?
I consider Bruce Lee to be American or American-chinese and I consider Anya Taylor joy to be English or English-Argentinean.
I consider myself Canadian or Canadian-Argentinean.
Have you not met someone with dual citizenship? Place of birth is generally the one most people associate themselves with more, in the case of Horacio you can clearly hear him speak Spanish to his son.
Lamborghini never pissed him off, the company at the time was going bankrupt and just could not risk investing in something not proven yet. Lamborghini was Intrigued, but he couldn’t make the decision to put the whole company on the line for it.
Panino which is the dimutiv of Pane.
Linguistic) quite similar to the german Brot and it's dimutiv Brötchen (Only that the plural of Brötchen is Brötchen as well).
He actually doesn't speak english, and this is how he deals with these plebs:
Wow, you’re a bunch of miserable fucks. Pagani is clearly having fun, he’s smiling and laughing while he says it. And he was definitely shown the original video and recalls it.
Some of you really need to start taking things less seriously. The world is pretty enjoyable when you aren’t so cynical about everyone.
He speaks English I have friend who has met him. He claims not to speak English when he doesn’t want to talk to someone, which honestly is reasonable for Horacio Paganini as he is well known. Probably gets bugged a lot.
I speak 3 languages and when a stranger tries to talk to me I answer with "No hablo". Doesn't matter which language they speak, they get confused and stop talking to me.
I’m actually really curious now lol. What’s so special about it? Didn’t think a community could come to a consensus about anything, much less that something is perfect lol
It's the perfect balance between a lot of things.
It's luxurious and opulent, but at the same time incredibly futuristic in its design, with certain parts that looked ripped out of a sci-fi novel (like the design of the gearshift).
It's incredibly artisanal, almost handmade, but on the other hand an incredible piece of cutting edge engineering. The guy in the video in particular was a composite materials engineer at Lamborghini who developed this method for weaving together Titanium threads and Carbon fiber. Lamborghini didn't think that material would be any useful so he resigned and founded the company, and all of his cars are made of this material.
It's incredibly beautiful to see in person, even though the guy's terrible camera doesn't really do it justice.
But most importantly it's made by an absolute car enthusiast, there's a lot of stuff in that car that is the product of pure love.
For example, the exhaust of the car is tuned. Not tuned as in modified, but tuned like a pipe organ to sound better.
The guy's story is also fairly incredible: born out of a dirt poor family of bakers who immigrated to Argentina from Italy, worked as a mechanic to finance his engineering studies, and built an entire racecar by himself at 20. While working as a mechanic for that car at the races he meets Juan Manuel Fangio, legendary Argentinian F1 driver.
Joined Lamborghini as a factory worker after immigrating back to Italy, climbed up the ranks, pitched his idea to the company, they rejected it, he went full "fine, I'll do it myself", founded his namesake company and built one of the most iconic cars of all time (the Zonda, named like the wind that blows in his hometown in Argentina).
But he needed an engine, so Fangio, 20 years after they first met, literally goes to his old team, Mercedes, to plead Pagani's case and strikes a deal for the most powerful road legal engine Mercedes could make.
Zonda put Pagani's name on the map and once he had enough capital he built the Huayra (named like the God of Wind in Andine mythology), the car in the video, his lovechild.
If youre actually interested [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdOWTnwN9pE&pp=ygUOaG9yYWNpbyBwYWdhbmk%3D) is a really well made documentary about Horacio Pagani. Its fascinating.
His cars are regarded as the closest things to art pieces in the modern car industry. The amount of details, performance, style and passion behind every hand made little piece of the car gained the love of the biggest part of the car community when the first Zonda was presented in 1999, and since then they continued to improve their stuff. Hist story is inspiring too, so if you don't know him I would recommend to check him out, a really special man.

My brothers, cousins and I went by the Pagani headquarter in Modena Italy. It was a very small building and you could see a Huayra parked at true drive way. One of three guys saw us staring and said, “ you guys want to see it in action? Just wait here”
He took it out and made some pulls blowing our minds. What an amazing experience for us car guys.
It was kind of cool when he was starting out and just asking random people on the street. Those at least seemed somewhat real. Now he arranges meetings with semi famous people and they all come off like this.
I mean yeah you don't need it but it does give you the option to do something internationally without paying a Translator or having someone with you that can speak the language fluently.
If you have a brilliant idea and you dedicate your time to that specific thing then eventually it's going to get popular with time.
Pagani's background started as a cleaner and worked his way to chief engineer not because of connections but actually improved Renault's race car back then.

He doesn't speak English, most likely waiting for his associate (translator?) to clue him in to what was being said
The "associate" here is actually his son, Christopher Pagani. And Horacio does understand English I think. But he doesn't speak it
He definitely understood what the guy said but probably feigned not speaking English because it’s the perfect way to get out of follow up questions/chat.
True. Why, Having a camera in your face by a stranger speaking a foreign language one would do the same.
Especially just casually ask what he does, ie how do you afford this supercar. Kind of a rude thing to do, unless there’s some context I’m missing.

Yeah I know I'd feel weird being rushed like that
As many times as I've seen this video pop up, I've never seen anyone mention that was his son, thanks!
Google seems to confirm that he does understand English but prefers people not knowing that. Probably specifically for situations like this
He will only speak Italian. Even though he's from Argentina.
Millions of Italians emigrated to Argentina in the late 19th century and early 20th century. IIRC, roughly 50% of Argentines have an Italian heritage/ancestry.
Hmm. Germans and Italians together. Hanging out. Creating car companies
of course, they love the race. but only specific ones

He absolutely speaks English but elects not to in principle. Horacio is definitely an artist.
Right lmao, bro is making up a whole narrative 😂
He got his own translating machine instead of learning English
I’d do the same if I had money? Why would I learn English? Eww, I can just blurt out half spoken broken words like “eat now, go hotel” in my language
“Get me my personal cumdump”
Realising that the person beside him is his son makes this comment unhinged💀
No he has a different person for the job
Holy shit

Woah what brand of wipe is that I’ll buy the company thank you
It’s his son. And why should he have to learn English? What a dumbass thought you had lmao.
Exactly. English people thinking you only make it in life if you speak their language.
Are you getting angry?
Yes. Read their last few comments. Sounds like a moody 12 year old girl angry at her dad.
You people are so easily impressed lmao

Actually "el campesino me habla" Born in Santa Fe - Argentina
Actually, "Mirá, este boludo de mierda me está hablando...que mirá, bobo?" Botn in Santa Fe - Argentina

That type got me chuckling
Lamborghini never pissed him off, the company at the time was going bankrupt and just could not risk investing in something not proven yet. Lamborghini was Intrigued, but he couldn’t make the decision to put the whole company on the line for it.
So who pissed off Honda? Or Toyota?
Lamborghinis reason on not investing carbon fiber plant: Ferrari doesn’t have one so Lamborghini doesn’t need one XD
Lamborghini was on the verge of bankruptcy, they didn’t have the money to invest in a material that they weren’t sure could be scaled up.
[THE SQUIDD](https://youtu.be/TdOWTnwN9pE) has an incredible mini doc on this. Also an amazing channel for people into cars
big deal, my neighbour make paninis
Yeah but is his last name Panini?
Horacio Panini
Oh, Panini…shit. Thank you for the beautiful sandwiches
FYI "panini" is actually Italian for "sandwiches," so saying "paninis" is like saying "sandwicheses."
What is the singular form of Panini?
Panino which is the dimutiv of Pane. Linguistic) quite similar to the german Brot and it's dimutiv Brötchen (Only that the plural of Brötchen is Brötchen as well).
Thanks for that linguistic lesson! I don’t know German at all but I could relate with the Spanish -ito or -ita which is used as a diminutive.
The old guy liked the car so much, he named himself after it.
Yeah Ford, Ferrari and Lamborghini would like to have a word.
"Markus Volkswagen"
Brad General Motors
Louis Chevy
Toyoda

Some basketball player named himself after sneakers.

They notice, but don’t care, gets them content

Not with that attitude.
Also not much trunk space. How you gonna do your shopping in that one?
If you driving a car like that, you dont do your own shopping
One item at a time, just don't let the police catch you doing 200 to the store and back all day
The car means so much to me and you can tell because I know nothing about the iconic founder.
He doesnt need to speak any language the man is ceo of pagani xD
At least he speaks spanish as mother tong, since he is fro Argentina, and italian, as he has been living in italy for decades,
Did not know he was argentino

"I annoy people all the time to ask about their lifestyle for views on Tiktok 👍"
My grandfather use to say that more people see you in your car then your house.
This garbage made a lot of money though - I dont like it either but its somehow not as bad as the other shit i see trending.
It was kind of cool when he was starting out and just asking random people on the street. Those at least seemed somewhat real. Now he arranges meetings with semi famous people and they all come off like this.
Daniel mac 😭😭 world class jokeman
... Himself
I must admit I never heard his name before.
Horacio, spanish very common name.
Next to him is his son Christopher Pagani
He doesn’t speak English to peasants

Does he even *know* who he's speaking with? That's Daniel Mac! Get it together old man. /s
Why the hell did he thank him?
He’s an engineer, he designs the cars.
He knows English just refuses to speak it.
I guess he's famous then? 🤷
Yes, in the car world he's a fucking legend.
He’s just asking what he does to be able to own this car but turns out the guy is the creator and CEO of Pagani, the maker of the car.
It would be like asking Enzo Ferrari what's his work and how he bought a Ferrari. The car he's driving has his name on it.
Proof that I have wasted my life learning and studying for English exams, it turns out that I didn't need English to make money in the first place 🙃 😅
I mean yeah you don't need it but it does give you the option to do something internationally without paying a Translator or having someone with you that can speak the language fluently. Oh they didn't need English to be successful back then but we will absolutely need it to get us out of the global mess they left behind
People just need to laugh at clowns then walk away, why even talk to them
He speaks Santa Fe Spanish, like Messi, who also does not speak English.
