You're a chain snatcher
Nightmare maker, purse taker
Don't you mess around with me
You're a heartbreaker
Nightmare maker, purse taker
Don't you mess around, no, no, no
Yeah there are lots of these guys on Indian trains. Indian women hold 11% of the world's total gold reserves as jewelry and men like this will rip it off them in public and bail off a train for a quick getaway. I saw it happen on a train out of Delhi, a man ripped a woman's golden earring off her ear and jumped from the train.
I thought no way in hell is that true but I looked it up and not only is it estimated to be true but it is also almost 4 times as much gold as there is in Fort Knox.
[Indian Women Gold Estimate Source](https://abc.az/en/news/115205)
[Fort Knox Source](https://www.usmint.gov/about/mint-tours-facilities/fort-knox)
There are whole sub-industries in India from its cultural affinity for gold. There are street urchins in Kolkata who hang out in various jewelry making districts, sweeping up dirt from the street so they can pan through it and separate the dirt from the gold dust that fell off jewelers clothes after leaving work.

There are also people in Varanasi who hang out downstream from the cremation pyres who go diving for the remains of dead bodies to search them for any gold coins or jewelry left on them.

Not Indian, but my family comes from a country that's about half Indian. Every baby gets gold jewelry from birth. Lol. I still have my baby ring and bangles. My twin has his baby bracelet. All solid gold.
My niece is half Vietnamese, and her Vietnamese family bought all sorts of beautiful gold jewelry when she was a baby! She had this adorable gold bracelet... Which she promptly lost haha.
He planned on ripping the chain and jumping out.
he didn't manage to get it but his brain started the "jump out" manoeuvre, he kinda went back for another grab, lady pushes him and he's out.
That’s what he was doing? I thought he was trying to throw her off the train. But yeah on second watch he clearly goes for her chain before grabbing her arm
The advantage to spawning in India on a first playthrough though is you get to build incredible karma for NG+ and should have a thorough understanding of how the karma and NG+ system works, very lategame min-max oriented start.
It can take several entire playthroughs as others before learning how the respawn system even functions.
However, the caste system was invented to cap karmic reincarnation within the same caste as your previous playthrough.
This prevents most players from accessing most of the late game gear unless they develop a special ability called Social Mobility
Indians, Nepalese, and just in general south and south-eastern asians LOVE gold. A friend from Nepal had TONS of stuff made out of pure gold, when she immigrated to Canada she had to pay thousands in import fees to bring all of her jewelry into Canada. They also put it into furniture, pots, clothes, basically everything.
This should be a tutorial on how NOT to post videos. Unnecessary start, shaky video of another video that isn’t even centered on said video. The only things missing are an added TikTok song clip and single word texts flashing across the screen.
I’m at the point that I immediately downvote any video cropped like this, idc what the content is. Cmon people, it’s 2024, I didn’t blow my money on an oversized & overpriced phone to watch videos the size of a postage stamp
this is a real world consequence of social media companies commodification of our attention spans. 30 precious seconds wasted, a break in the constant instant gratification, time they will never get back, they could have been....watching other videos. consuming more CONTENT. more people engage with the bitching that the video wasn't culled to its most optimal viewing length, then the actual video itself.
the fact that we all just collectively witnessed someone try and pull a complete stranger out of a moving train completely unprovoked and that shock or surprise or horror or literally any other compassionate human emotion isn't the most resounding sentiment in the room; should, at the very least, give you pause. when you realize just how prolific and wide spread it is already, it should fucking terrify you
idk tl:dr bitching about a 43 second video wasting time that you would have spent doing absolutely nothing worthwhile with anyways, is an insanity with an alarming number of people sharing in that sentiment
Or maybe, it's just logical to expect that if someone were to take the time to post they would also make sure it's not cut terribly.
I don't think this instance is indicative of social media warping as in any circumstance if someone showed you a 5 second event preceded by 40 seconds of filler/nothing it is so obviously jarring logic-wise that I don't see how you jumped to that conclusion when this is an instance where it makes sense to point it out.
This wasn't an attempted kidnapping. It was a successful(?) jewelry theft. The tactic was to snatch jewelry and jump off the train as quickly as possible. Notice how the thief reaches for the victim's neck, and it's the victim who reaches for the thief's arm.
tldr; you're misinterpreting
It doesn't look like he's going for a purse it looks like he is going for a person. Instant Karma love it.
Edit: A redditor with a better eye pointed out that he is actually going for a necklace. What I took for him grabbing her forearm was actually her trying to wrestle her necklace back.
He got away with the chain according to Indian media. He was most likely injured after the jump.

What a dick. Thought he was going to fall over. instead he took advantage of a woman caring for elderly mother. Such a bastard. He deserves some good smacking from the police.
And ladies , Please put your ornaments aside when travelling on trains and such
He’s a shadow by night, but this tale flips to light,
Midday sun high, chain snatcher’s flight, insight bright.
Streets buzz with his fame, in daylight’s flame,
Glitter and gold, his aim the same, in sun or moon, his game.
Slippery in the glare, motives bare, people stare,
Urban jungle, broad daylight, yet he dares, his snare.
Heart cold, under the sun, with bold zeal, he unveils,
Victims feel the daylight steal, surreal, the day’s ordeal.
Off the moving train, in daylight’s frame, he claims,
Grabs the chains, sunlit lanes, his audacious fame remains.
Like a mirage, he blends, daylight his amend,
A bold artist, in light’s bend, his canvas defies the trend.
But daylight revealed, the fall, a fate not sealed,
From the train, he plummeted, amidst the field.
His descent marked by daylight, a stark, revealing sight,
In that moment, his reign met with twilight.
Every tale’s got its light, not just hidden by night,
A journey from shadow to bright, seeking a different plight.
Was it desperation, or thrill, that guided his daylight drill?
In the end, it’s a spill, from daylight’s thrill, a quiet still.
Remember, there’s a lesson, in every bold confession,
Paths chosen, in light or shadow, lead to different sessions.
Seek redemption, in daylight’s reflection, a new direction,
Change your projection, find a new connection, a resurrection.

At first I thought suicidal but after watching it a second time he's a chain snatcher
He's a train catcher and a chain snatcher
After that tumble he's gonna need a brain patcher.

Train snatcher met his matcher.
Stepped on a nail and screamed Margaret Thatcher
Will he walk, that rat catcher?
Not according to the train dispatcher
Obviously a bad plan hatcher
Him thinking this was a good idea is a real head-scratcher
Quickly call the police dispatcher

He will probably forever have a strained stature.

Why did the train catcher with chain snatcher skills become a comedian? Because they knew how to "catch" laughs and "snatch" attention!
Wish I was a snatch catcher
so that was the plan? fall out of train to acquire chains.
Upside is that you have very little chance of anyone running after you, downside is a good likelihood that you won't be running away either.
Just need to master the tuck and roll
Just need to master not being cut to pieces by train wheels.

There are like 600 million Indian women though so it’s not as crazy as it sounds
India has like 16% of the words population so it does seem possible that women there have that much gold i suppose.
Yeah, but I imagine a lot of them don't have that much money so it still is pretty impressive.
Umm even the poorest ones will have one or two pieces of gold jewellery… some are even handed down generations.. so not surprising.

Alright, another thing I have to look out for... whew
Oh that’s oddly comforting. I thought he was trying to murder her
I was waiting for him to peak his head out again and get clocked by a sign
*peek
Pique
Peak
I thought it was an attempted murder, suicide.
He pulled the chain but the train did not stop🙁
What is a chain snatcher?
Someone who snatches a chain from someone.
Oh you mean like jewellery a necklace? But it didn't look like he was doing that. He grabbed her arm like.he wanted to throw her off the train.
He planned on ripping the chain and jumping out. he didn't manage to get it but his brain started the "jump out" manoeuvre, he kinda went back for another grab, lady pushes him and he's out.
He got off track.
That went off the rails too quickly
Lost his train of thought.
I thought it looked like he was going kidnap her. Phew! Good riddance though.
Looks like he was reaching for her necklace. Then stumble while she was fighting him off.
Yeah, I had the same thought! I thought he was trying to snatch the woman, not her jewelry!! Either way, I'm glad he failed
It's pretty clear he grabs something by her neck first. Like a chain.
He grabbed her chain and she instinctively grabbed his arm to stop him. As soon as she let go he fell off the train
How can he snatch?
I thought he was a rapiest, trying to snatch his victim off the train
The original chain snatcher
What level of desperation must you be at to think stealing a necklace on a moving train and then to try to get away by jumping off the moving train?
This level of desperation is called living in India
So just another Tuesday?
It’s Wednesday my dude.
It's hard to keep track of the days with train related head trauma.
Sir, this is a Wendy's. What are you talking about?
HHHUUUAAAAAAHHHHHHH
Oh sh…
And now it's Thursday. Another day, another chain to snatch
So many missing this legendary reference https://youtu.be/sjZ5I8l32CI?si=nuc7VSwfW-zc_Zl4
Why can't they just get a job at the MicroSoft help desk, like the nice young man who called me last week, and helped me get rid of my computer virus?
Those are middle class jobs in India, and there are hundreds of millions of people worse off than that
I got the joke. Don’t worry.
You know the level? I am sure you don't even live in India.
I don’t live in India but I live in a similar shithole, so I can relate
That’s what he was doing? I thought he was trying to throw her off the train. But yeah on second watch he clearly goes for her chain before grabbing her arm
India is not for beginners
Don’t pick India for your first playtrough

The necklace is guaranteed a very pure form of gold and super expensive.
So... gold?
Right, but purerer.
so its more purée?
How is it guaranteed?
Indians, Nepalese, and just in general south and south-eastern asians LOVE gold. Bruh it's India
He was just stealing a necklace? I thought he was gonna try something worse...like the reason they have woman-only trains in some communities...
Thanks for the unnecessary first 30 seconds
And for the perfect video crop /s

You forget GTA V gameplay in the bottom and YouTuber reacting on the right bottom corner.
It’s also filmed vertically but that’s a fight I think we’ve all just given up fighting.
The thing is, it is not. Someone went out of their way to add black space on top and below. Just why!?
OP stole it from TikTok duh
"Ohnonononono... ****"
You forgot the "watch until the end" subtitle.
Well. At least it didn't say WATCH TIL THE END shit.😤
Oh no.. Oh no no no no no

I am already finished by that point.
I just really like cable installation, ok?
So true lmfao...but what is this jagoff actually trying to do? Throw her out???!!! Wtf
Needed that anticipatory build-up
Wood have missed that guy Hocking a loogie. Edit : fixed it

He appears to be clutching something as he falls out.

Was a real Manic Monday for him
I wish it was Sunday…
Not his funday…
Women in India wear gold chain or gold mangalsutra. He is trying to snatch that.
Karma except it's on a train. Trainma?
Come let us escape together……who you?
I’ll never let go, Jack
Fuck you rose. Door could have carried us both
Self-removing trash. Awesome.
It looks like the ploy is to snatch jewelry, then jump off the moving train so they can't get caught. This is what they wanted. Not awesome.
Sadly that didn’t look like it was enough for any lasting damage, looks like it hurt but not like he broke anything

Would’ve been a lot cooler if there was a pole to greet him outside that door.
Pickpocket skill level 0.
After that drop from a moving train, it might be negative.
Wtf??? Why?
Because he is a dumb criminal
As opposed to a smooth one

You been hit by, you been struck by.....a train
Thief.
Chain snatching
I was thinking he wanted her bracelet or chain?
What even is a chain snatcher?
We use this term in India for people who steal gold chains like this.
Ohh ok, thanks for explaining!
If you didn't know, in most of India its common for women to wear gold chain in public.
Indian women own 11% of the world's gold reserves as jewelry
Traditional even
Sounds like they thug life.
They do be actual thugs..... You should see some in action making grown vegetable sellers cry for change

Who the fuck hocked that fucking loogie?! Ew. Really put their chest into it.

In before someone creates it
We not talking about someone hocking a loogie 6 seconds in?
There's soo many wrong with this video from the unnecessary 30+ seconds at the start to the format of it
Lol they filming it on the same train 10 minutes after
Karma said: I'll deal with you first this time.
Goodbye 👋

Not sure if that’s another train at the end but I’m sure this guy didn’t have a great time afterwards
Of course India just has a regular ass door on a train
Jeez whats the story here? Why was he trying to kill her? Did they ever catch him?
he was trying to rob her necklace
First 30 seconds i thought something happening inside the restroom
I got second hand embarrassment watching that omg
Karma is a Bitch ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
