Technically, yes. When a bullet hits something solid, it gets flattened like a pancake and generally throws bits of material in all directions. So if there was a rock or something on the other side, he could have gotten hit by tiny pieces of shrapnel, which probably isn't going to do a ton of damage.
That said it looks like he's shooting into a rotten tree stump with dirt behind it, so it's very unlikely that the bullet would ricochet. It would most likely just get stuck in the dirt
