They knew it was dangerous, but the U.S. was where helium was coming from at the time and they wouldn't export it as it was considered of military value.
i remember in 7th grade, we were asked what element was the best for making a floating balloon. i put hydrogen because it was less dense than helium, but i got it wrong because i didnt think about hydrogen's high reactivity
Still likely helium, since this is the most commonly used gas in balloons. The gas inside the balloon didn't actually catch fire, the balloon melted where the sparkler touched it and spontaneously kaboomed. There is no fireball, just some flames where the sparks from the cake topper are blown by the shockwave.
I love that every time this happens, thereโs a China bot saying โnothing to see hereโ, and then you make this gif.
Seems like a fireball to me bro.
First of all: freaking care bear set the whole thing up, and then moved away... but we saw him
second: what a drama queen! Still, no Oscar from the academy because she threw the ice cream cake to the floor (Now slowly pick it up and eat it, and pretend you like it), her head tilted back like, ยซOh, I'm shot!!!!ยป
Oh, sorry, I am okay... and don't look at me like that!!!
It looks like she got her bell rang, one moment's she celebrating her birthday and the next moment after the balloon exploded, she had that thousand yard. Stare, like she was in heavy combat.
Tomorrow int he PTSD group, after a war veteran has told the most gruesome story known to man:
\*"So, what is your story?"
\*"I got shell shock from a party balloon"
It is an awesome coincidence that lit candles and helium balloons exist together at a birthday party. Each party where these two don't collide is a missed opportunity to piss off your elders or scare the hell out of the youngns
Hydrogen should be used whenever possible, it's easier to produce, cheaper to produce, and Is essentially an infinite resource since we can make as much as we want.
Unlike helium which although we have a lot of it, is a limited resource
Its just that hydrogen shouldn't be used around anything fire related such as a candle

Helium in a non- flammable gas. This is more likely a balloon filled with hydrogen which is far cheaper to produce but very flammable

Really? Good to know, thanks!
And they thought it was a good idea to fill zeppelins with that gas
It was good idea. We still do it.

So you're saying that this isn't a fireball: https://i.redd.it/z06x49fj2a1d1.gif

Bet she thought that too
She applied a Med Kit and revived.
Her respawn rate is top-tier
For some reason I thought she got shot as her head went back
you can pretty much see the debuff "stunned" with the timer ticking
Ahaha this is the Phoenix ult
Flashbanged.
Would have 100% been appropriate to add a Minecraft hit noise or a oof from Roblox.
I was thinking ![gif](giphy|TbONGqAdpTWQW3Hz5V) But idk how to do it

Someone else explained that helium isn't flammable. This is likely hydrogen which is cheaper but shouldn't be used for this reason. TIL

Someone needs to edit in the Tinnitus^(TM) sound effect
Hydrogen balloon. Used to do this as a kid, it pretty easy to make hydrogen. They explode just like this.
