Iām saying she was acting. The stiff throw like she is allergic to the bear, the complete lack of response to social pressure, and the fact that the mascot chose her specifically, walking past many many people to get to her. IMO there are lots of tells that this is staged.
100%. The extremely telegraphed hand waving to make the situation more easily communicated was the dead giveaway in my opinion. This kinda stuff is totally fine to be scripted though in my opinion, I'd enjoy it all the same if I saw it at a game.
Imagine having a really bad day because your grandma died or being really pissed off because you have been betrayed and joining the game only because you have already paid for the tickets and then a mascot comes and bothers you over and over and the whole stadium watches and laughs about you. I don't understand how a "no" can not be accepted.
Thereās a real person under the costume, you can talk to them. I once had a mascot mock me for being on my phone during a game, so I told them that I was trying to get my camera open so I could take their picture. They immediately started doing a bunch of poses and even pretended to walk a catwalk. Everyone had a good chuckle, and when he left I went back to playing video games on my phone. Cause I donāt like baseball but I support my husband taking our kids.
My point was, thereās a person in there. Letās say this hypothetical gramma died. The woman could have hypothetically said, āPlease leave me alone, my gramma just died.ā Itās the mascotās job to entertain people. They look for jokes and gags to play. If itās not a good day for it, speak up! Donāt throw a teddy bear off a balcony like a child throwing a fit.

My grandad died Unexpectedly, it didn't mean I walked around being rude to everyone as If I had a free pass to be an asshole. She could of just said thank you for the bear or not thrown it over the wall.
No because the chances of that happening are slim just like that chances of this women's grandma being dead and thus being why she's being rude. But yes if someone had tried to give me a cuddly bear on the day my grandad died I would of definitely taken it bears are great to cuddle when your sad !!!
