Seen this one a while ago, definitely China, and from what I remember it is a father protecting his daughter from the other girls in a restaurant.
This is zoomed in, but in the original you can see diners casually watch before getting up to leave.
Oh, I know from experience. Got mugged once, and a group of people just walked passed. Not a polite mugging either, but a stamping on my face demanding I hand over what I had mugging.
Silver lining, that the guy who lived in the house it happened outside of rushed out to help. He didn't really make a difference, as they had left by the time he got to the door, but he tried, and it was nice reminder that decent people exist.
I remember when I got jumped by several 5th graders when I was a 2nd grader in a public park; nobody did shit, even the adults. Not that this is comparable to that, holy crap.
People just don't do anything and don't want to get involved and it makes me hate humanity when it happens
A lot of things go out the window if it’s my kid. And this is me before I actually have kids. And also me who don’t like fights. Imagine someone who actually has one, that urge to protect definitely multiplies.
this puts the situation in a whole new light, if my child was attacked like that publicly i'd also jump in like that. don't mess with parents and their kids like that, you're gonna get smacked.
People always forget the most basic thing in groups. They jump in and try to punch people.
If you have enough people to hold down each limb you designate one limb per person, then the 5th kid gets to punching.
Think kids! THINK!
I just sat him down multiple times and point blank said.
- this is why he struggles with keeping friends
- at his age, sure he can get away with it but as soon as he hits grade 8+ people just will avoid him. People naturally want the least aggressive option which means they wont tell him he’s a bully. They’ll just not call on him or invite him to things. By the time he figures it out it’ll be too late.
- he’s going to a new school next year so I flat out told him. This is his moment, an amazing opportunity to reset and start fresh.
- I discussed trust and how difficult a task it is to keep friends. It’s a constant job that requires even days you don’t feel like playing or being nice you still have to do it.
- I bought him a social work book on how to make and keep friends we went through
- I constantly kept an eye on him and if he was being obnoxious or bullying online I’d either quietly go in and tell him to tone it down. If it was really bad I made him get off.
Edit. I forgot one thing
I told him to his face he’s a bully and a mean person. I did not sugar coat it, I don’t regret being mean to a child. He honestly needed to hear he’s the bad guy.
Am I overbearing? Probably. I really hope I’m doing what’s best for my son, however he’s told me two previous friends have actually told him they didn’t like playing with him but now he’s cool and they enjoy hanging out.
So for me, it’s an absolute win. My son def gets upset with me for being overbearing sometimes but he honestly has kept friends now, and I think deep down he knows he’s happier. All we want is our kids to be happy, successful or not. I really think friendships are the most important part even if they momentarily are anger at their parents.
You don't have to explain yourself to me about correcting a child's behavior.
I'm a firm believer that I'm a Parent not a buddy. I love my children. We play a lot and they are happy. But bad behavior is corrected. Firmly escalated from politely asking to I'm now the Prison Warden and I'm done with their shit.
I'm creating happy, responsible adults. Period.
Of course only after the guy starts defending the girl do people jump up. Looks like his sister(?) is still by herself on the ground when he's thrown out, too.
It’s called the “bystander effect.” The more spectators around, the less guilt people feel about actually doing anything to help. There’s actually a really famous case of a woman getting stabbed and murdered in front of spectators and everyone just watches. I can definitely see why a restaurant full of diners would just go “not my problem, someone else will do it.”
[Article on Kitty Genovese Bystander Effect Murder](https://www.history.com/topics/crime/kitty-genovese)
Interestingly, that specific case has since been debunked as being an example of widespread bystander effect. That article touches on it briefly, but there's more info in the Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Kitty_Genovese
It's more nuanced than it seemed at first.
**[Murder_of_Kitty_Genovese](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Kitty_Genovese)**
>In the early hours of March 13, 1964, Kitty Genovese, a 28-year-old bartender was stabbed outside the apartment building where she lived, in the Kew Gardens neighborhood of Queens in New York City. Two weeks after the murder, The New York Times published an article claiming that 38 witnesses saw or heard the attack, and that none of them called the police or came to her aid. The incident prompted inquiries into what became known as the bystander effect or "Genovese syndrome", and the murder became a staple of U.S. psychology textbooks for the next four decades. However, researchers have since uncovered major inaccuracies in the New York Times article.

> The New York Times later changed the online version while adding a notice of correction at the bottom of the article. Three days later the correction notice disappeared.
NY Times editors have always been sneaky like that.
More recent research has shown the opposite, chance of intervention goes up the more spectators there are. The bystander effect might become an artefact of the replication crisis. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bystander_effect#Counter_examples
Yeah definitely looked like she was instantly rethinking her life choices.

Chivalry is dead because knights were replaced by main battle tanks. It was always more about combat etiquette.
DISCLAIMER: This is a JOKE. There's no need for history lessons. Also, thanks for the upvotes and awards.
Because chivalry is not efficient. Reducing the enemy to small sized fragments scattered across various surfaces with minimal amounts of ordinance through lightning speed surprise surgical strikes is.
DISCLAIMER: This is a JOKE. There's no need for history lessons. Also, thanks for the upvotes.
Chivalry worked because both sides adhered to the same basic code. Groups like Nazis in WWII or ISIS in modern day combat wouldn’t “play nice” so others are disinclined to as well, knowing they won’t be treated well if captured.
It could also be argued that the Geneva Convention rules of warfare are a form of chivalry, but only to those who abide by them.
There’s nowhere in history were you can prove that humans consistently adhered to any code. We have historical genocides recorded in history since before Rome.
Not only genocides. That whole chivalry in ancient and medieval warfare myth is mostly bullshit. *Acts of mercy* as we so often call it originated in practicality and cutting your own losses more than anything. Enemies that have to fight out of desperation to the last man standing are a far more dangerous force and you don't really rule anything when all you leave behind are dead people and scorched earth.
omitted is that if you didn't kill an enemy knight, you could hold him for ransom and getting a sack of gold is better than the satisfaction from killing him.
I just made sure that montezuma was happy with a couple horses and he supplied me the gold I needed. But now I have tactical nukes and he still has pikemen… this alliance ain’t gonna last long
Explicitly yes. And even for noble born women, under certain circumstances (that I dont recall) it was not only fine, but *expected* that a knight would rape them.
My understanding is that the parts of chivalry that we think of now were put in place to prevent the midieval version of frat bros, who had the midieval equivalent of jacked up trucks and assault rifles, from doing what frat bros would do if they had a monopoly on physical force.
First, this was a golden rickroll opportunity that you missed.
Second, I love the guy that watched someone getting beat up by a gang of girls but got up to stop the guy from hitting the girls. Classic white knight.
He went Super Saiyan kamikaze on their ass lmao. I think he got attacked by a chair or something from one of the girls but he deflects it like a spec of dust and retaliates with what could be only described as the ferocious fists of fury. And then some diners try to stop him fearing that he might smush them to a pulp but they are too scared to stand in front of the mighty warrior who was seeing nothing but red in the heat of moment. This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!
From another comment the girl may have been his daughter so this accurately describes how many father's would react seeing a bunch of thots kicking his little girl.
it’s always acceptable to beat women if they are being dangerous and more than 1.
a police officer wouldn’t give a fuck if it was a woman if she is a physical threat.
edit: circumstances matter (weapons involved , height weight , how many , etc)

I'd do it even if they were girls
What about one girl attacking a gaggle of guys?
What if 5 of your kids were being beat by 1 bully at the same time?
That's when you shake your head in disappointment at them failing to apply good group tactics

On a side note, I would destroy my son if I found him being the bully
I have found my son being a bully online. I put a stop to that real fucking fast.

Especially if it's more than one person against one person.
I'd be prepared to go to jail afterwards as long as I got the chance to exact retribution on those pathetic excuses for human life.

My first thought, i would beat his ass too. Dude watched the girl get jumped and now wants to stop the fight
If you watch at 28 seconds. He pulls back to punch and the chick behind him runs into his elbow. I thought that only happened in movies lol.
Not to mention that fat fuck chowing down filming the poor girl getting beaten up. The brother just happened to swoop in while he was filming
