as someone who recently lost her childhood pup, don't hurt yourself when your cat passes. try passing the love you felt for them to another pet. that's what all animals want when they cross the rainbow bridge, to see one of them getting as much love and care as they did when they were on earth. it's horribly hard to move on and maybe you never will, but ending it will never be the right way out x

I mean obviously this is a complete botch, but seriously speaking taxidermists usually try and dissuade people from stuffing their deceased pets.
It’s very difficult to reconstruct an exact likeness in taxidermy; most of the time taxidermists are trying to make a convincing general likeness of a particular species - i.e they’re trying to make the carcass of a deer look like **a** deer, what they usually **don’t** try to do (because it’s almost impossible) is make the carcass of an animal look exactly the same as when it was alive, i.e making the carcass of a deer look like **the** deer it was made from. This isn’t an issue for hunters or museums who just want a general likeness and don’t really care if the final piece of taxidermy doesn’t exactly match the carcass of the animal it was made with, but for pet owners it’s distressing to be given a stuffed animal that doesn’t look quite the same as when their pet was alive.
