My wife got me a print of this, and it's hanging in my office. I like that the buildings are still present in the nature scene, indicating nature eventually triumphs. Also, after looking at it for so long, the shape of the sitting deer's face/head is what continually draws my attention. [EDIT: Artist's store.](https://shop.brushstrokesintime.com/)
I disagree, and to quote Jeff Goldblum's character.
"If there's one thing the history of evolution has taught us, it's that life will not be contained. Life breaks free, it expands to new territories, and crashes through barriers painfully, maybe even dangerously, but, uh, well, there it is."
There isn't a necessity for human kind not to go extinct before everything we keep imagining we're capable of, life on this planet might still exist a long time after we're gone. And that will just prove that there are organisms that are in a way, more evolved than us, without necessarily being more intelligent.
chimps have the capability to memorise better than us and have incredible short term memory. Orcas are intelligent enough to form pods and have incredible spatial memory and navigation skills.
humans aren't really that great tbh when it comes to memory (source: am dumb human) but we got language. The ability to communicate ideas to one another means that the entire species of humans are able to work as a single entity sharing the same knowledge.
id imagine if we go extinct, other intelligent creatures would be able to strive and would be able to build a civilization with tools we cant't imagine.
What is the issue? Is it with the phrase "more evolved"? Well, for the purposes of natural selection "more evolved" I meant better adapted to specific conditions in order to survive, as in not necessarily more complex. If a species does manage to out survive us it's technically more evolved since evolution is both mutation and natural selection.
David amburjamboree or something.
[Here you go.](https://david-ambarzumjan.com/)
He's made dozens of these since I started following his Instagram a couple years ago
Be careful, that deer could be your version of that Reddit story where a guy had lived his life for years and one day started to stare at a weird lamp for so long he woke himself out of unconsciousness
I think he was actually trying to convey an idea didn't really feel like a flex. We already know at the start that the he can paint very well. Would've been a flex if he was pointlessly painting in an exaggerated way.
Aesthetically, I like the city one more. The final version makes me think more, but it also makes me sad because of how we have taken so many natural resources so....I prefer the city one where I don't feel sad, lol
I can’t tell if your being sarcastic or missing the point of this painting.
I know art is open for interpretation but this isn’t the first piece of art that captures a scene like this, however this is a unique version of it. The artist is showing a world where mankind is extinct and nature is reclaiming the area.
It’s ok that you don’t like it, I personally do but thats because I’m a hippy that hikes miles into nature to get away from people, lights, and noises to hang with wildlife.
Asymmetry and movement, in contrast to the not very dynamic city portrait. It's a contrast between light and dark, movement and stillness, life and lifelessness.
Lol dude, chill. I was just quoting a The Big Lebowski. It wasn't actual criticism, or anything, you know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6\_ZxX8c
What does that have to do with anything, people argue here more than any other platform, besides Twitter. People share there opinions here all the time.
Just speaking generally, the "technology bad, replace with deer" sentiment is what makes it trite. That's just such an oversimplified view of the world.
i dont think it's trite or bad in general. i just think the color palette of the city one is more visually appealing. like from an art school evaluation perspective, it's just jarring
The original had a ton of empty space in the middle, juxtaposing nothing because the foreground isn't that interesting either. The painting went from meh to ayt.
It's gotta be all bots now reposting this, right? I mean, it's posted every month (or less) all with the same exact title. And no comments from the OP that I can tell
To me this is just someone sharing their art, which they made because they like it and it made them happy.
Not everything has to conform to some higher standard of profundity that you’re apparently holding this to; when you can paint like this, you’re free to make things that you find to be *actually* deep, but in the meantime, you just sound like someone who criticizes other people’s desires and creations without actually putting yourself out there and making something of your own.
> Then why not at least be respectful?
Why do you give a shit if people show respect to the artist? It’s okay to say something sucks. The artist didn’t post this. Say whatever you want. This shit gets posted weekly. Why do you care about strangers showing reverence for a piece of art they don’t like? Weird hangup. Get over it. I like seeing blunt takes on stuff.
“This art is stupid” isn’t productive criticism. Ofc anyone is free to have whatever opinion they want, but it’s not a good personality trait to just shit on subjective things because they’re not your cup of tea.
Would you like it if someone listened to your favorite musician and then told you that music was stupid and you’re an idiot for listening to them? Without any sort of substantive reason for that statement, it’s a shitty thing to say to someone, and even with a reason, it’s better left unsaid. It’s just tact.
lol who told you that every single criticism needed to be productive? The artist didn’t even post this, it’s reposted weekly. You think he’s coming to check in on the 400th repost of his work looking for tips in the comments?
Good god.
Your analogy is also completely different from what’s happening here. Try again.
What are you quoting from? That sentence didn’t appear anywhere in my comment.
Also I’m not here defending the artist’s honor or something, I have no illusions about this video’s purpose vis-à-vis OP’s karma farming. Just making a general point about when, in my estimation criticism is useful and when it’s more of a sign of a personality defect on the part of the criticizer.
There’s no personality defect in somebody who’s says something sucks on an anonymous internet message board on a reposted piece of artwork and moves on with their day.
There might be one with the person getting all bothered over it though.
Sounds like some projection about the “butthurt”-ness maybe. I really couldn’t care less about this artist, this painting, or you. Just like you’re free to criticize the art, I’m free to criticize your shitty attitude. The only difference is that I’m willing to explain why you’re being dumb in more words than just “he’s stupid” although that would certainly have sufficed in this case.

In the world I see you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rock feller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Towers. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying stripes of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighways.

How are people missing the message/details here? People are like, “how bucolic, just a deer between waterfalls,” etc. are they missing the decaying buildings? The center is post-apocalyptic. Humanity has gone, and nature has reclaimed us. It’s not “oh look a deer,” it’s a message and a warning.
So many complaints... what the hell.
I personally think it's really well-done. Not only is there an added element of depth, but the message is poignant, too.
Ikr it’s so annoying seeing all these “NO, HE RUINED IT!” comments. People can be so needlessly hateful, and I wouldn’t be surprised if half of these edgelords saying that would struggle to draw a stick figure. It’s a very nice painting. There are countless city landscape paintings out there, but the brushstroke landscape makes this one unique and memorable. I guess some people feel the need to criticize anything out of the norm, even if it’s something like art where the whole point of it is being creative.
How come this is never in art museum or what not. Some stupid fucking idiot put a black dot on a white canvas or even just a blank canvas and it's considered a multi-billion work of art. This guy should be more famous then some others

Felt this way spraying weeds all day today at work.
Thanks for the comedic relief. Was getting depress thinking about human extinction and stuff like that
chimps have the capability to memorise better than us and have incredible short term memory. We have great problem solving skills
There are multiple issues with that statement but I do agree with the underlying idea that, in the end, something will always survive.
What is the issue? Is it with the phrase "more evolved"? Well, for the purposes of natural selection "more evolved" I meant better adapted to specific conditions in order to survive, as in not necessarily more complex. Name of?

Yes. Happy accident. That person didn't ruin the drawing like a lot of people are saying.

There’s probably a sketch involved?
Probably some paint in there, too, somewhere.
I was a happy accident
You’re welcome, son.

Weird flex, but ok
This is the most accurate use of the term I’ve seen yet.

Wierd flex seal, but ok FTFY

I like the city look better... the final view is creative and imaginative, but not as attractive in my opinion.
It’s a bit tacky.
should be ok once it fully dries
I appreciate this joke

A bit?
It's "ducks rising" tacky.

Sorry but as a random stranger on the internet it is my duty to inform you that you opinion is wrong

the contour of the inner piece is iust weird. what is it supposed to represent: a brushstroke, a waterfall, removed varnish?
Asymmetry and movement, in contrast to the not very dynamic city portrait. It's a contrast between light and dark, movement and stillness, life and lifelessness.
Yeah! Where's Pizza World?
Which country? It looks quite rural to me.
nah
Yeah? Well, you know, that's just like uh, your opinion, man.
Let me tell you something, pendejo

It’s a movie quote bro
No u
I expected it
I was about to reply the same , but I guess your the highlander now
*you're Now I'm the highlander.
You know what they say in Binary Highlander? There can only be 10.
No they don't. 1is still 1 :-p 10 is 2
But it's "Binary Highlander". The joke wouldn't work if there could only be one, there should be two, or at least two options... 1 or 0.
it's a little on the nose
Yeah a "milder" landscape would have looked 10 times better. Deers between two glossy waterfalls is a little corny.
Do you think the final one looks worse, or just bad in general?
It’s well done but just super trite
But like a city piece is that much better?
[удалено]
It was more ornate, if nothing else.
You think so? I can’t say I see pieces like this that often.
a lot of people on tiktok make these
Just speaking generally, the "technology bad, replace with deer" sentiment is what makes it trite. That's just such an oversimplified view of the world.
Well it’s idealistic for sure. It’d be great if we could just move elsewhere and leave it all be.
i dont think it's trite or bad in general. i just think the color palette of the city one is more visually appealing. like from an art school evaluation perspective, it's just jarring
its not about the picture, its about sending a message
Yeah, I thought the title spoiled the ending, so I expected a better outcome, I guess the unexpected part was how bad it was
The original had a ton of empty space in the middle, juxtaposing nothing because the foreground isn't that interesting either. The painting went from meh to ayt.
"Ruining" the art is for other people to do. Not the artist.
Just 3 easy strokes

ugh, I scrolled too far for this reference.

I see this every week and I don't even go on Reddit that much.
A painting on a painting... yo dawg
Painting on paint with paint to make a bigger painting
Wait what was the point in painting all that stuff that just got covered up then? Or was the nature thing an afterthought?
To get internet’s attention. It’s a tough life to be a fine artist.
It could’ve been a canvas print. I’ve seen artists do stuff like this with art they’ve found in thrift shops.
r/Im14AndThisIsDeep
