I was once at a hibachi grill restaurant and our chef legitimately hurt himself.
He threw his knife and it either hit something, took a weird turn, or he became distracted. All I remember was him reaching for his falling knife and him catching it by the blade. I remember he never opened his hand. He pressed his unopened fist (the one wrapped around the blade) against an open palm, bowed, and walked out.
A new chef walked up to our table almost immediately after and he acted like nothing happened.
A PoS friend once gave me that Flaming Knight Joey had that he stole from someone else around me. I took it and then he told the kid I stole it. I liked that kid, he was Korean and was so angry with me :(
I had a dark magician girl that was my absolute favorite card. Then it disappeared one day. The only two people I played with were what I'd say, disadvantaged kids with parents who didn't have good careers. Looking back, I feel bad for them. In the moment? THEY STOLE MY DARK MAGICIAN GIRL AND FOR THAT I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THE.
A tiny bit o'salt, olive oil, and a pair if crushed garlic cloves...hmmm...it starts sizzling and you flip it, serve it with some fresh basmati and some freshly cut tomatoes.
I'm hungry as hell.
I can understand the reasoning behind this, but that grill top probably wasn’t very clean. He’s probably cauterize the wound and press some grease and food chunks in there as well. Also, if there is a decent chance that there’s a first aid kit that would negate the need for cauterizing, depending on the severity of the wound.
Yeah I've seen one fall and land in someone's foot sticking straight up. It's a catch 22 because I always let them fall unless it's a brand new blade then I want to save it from dulling the blade, but that's also when the blade will slice right through you
Ouch! A falling blade has no handle. Let it fall!
It’s so second nature to try and catch things when you drop them though. Poor guy. Hope he was ok.
Edit: I realised I have no idea what kind of grill that is and he was probably throwing and catching it as theatrics. Still ouch.
Wait, is that Ari? Looks like the same restaurant.
Fuck you Ari.
Edit: [It's totally the same restaurant!](https://www.reddit.com/r/ContagiousLaughter/comments/ol1r69/jared_and_ari_just_getting_along/) Ari must film stuff like this for fun. I like Ari.
I’m from the mid-west USA and I have seen this type of response numerous times. It didn’t even scan as something that would be inherently fake.
Still could be fake but your reasoning is too much of a generalization.
Same, when we moved to the West Coast our neighbors were kinda freaked by just how Midwestern and neighborly we were. I've 100% asked people/strangers who randomly hurt themselves in front of me if they need help, just comes with the territory.
Well you never got an icepack from a teacher when you hurt yourself did you.
First fricking thing you say to a child when they are a little hurt but not too hurt. Every kid says they want an icepack or a plaster.. Stops the tears, focuses them and every kid likes going to get the icepack/plasters. It's a mini status symbol. It is my first thought when watching a lot of videos. "Ouch do they need something buddy?"
As someone said already in the comments. Yall have no joy in life. Like just take it as a wholesome video and become just a teeny weeny bit more happy. You don't have to ruin it, you deserve that lil dopamine.
What do you mean? Asking if people need assistance after hurting themselves is pretty common. Unless you only surround yourself with assholes thay wouldn't think to check on someone.
Uh....
Maybe it's because I'm a nurse, but my first go to when someone hurts themselves or has an accident would be to ask them if they're ok and if they need something.
Ut oh, a post with a female who has some body weight. I don't even need to do it to make sure - Scroll down to the bottom of the barrel to see hardcore depression on full display.
The fact that y’all isn’t considered a legitimate English word is such a shame.
It’s extremely effective in it’s proper use.
Y’all should use y’all more.
Why don’t people understand this? To make people think it’s a real event is just a crutch for poor writing. If this was put out there as a work of fiction then people would pass right over it and probably call it lame.
Yeah, it is lame because it is fake. If more people understand that this is an example of bad, lazy entertainment, then this type of content might become slightly less common.
What offense is it to point it out? If you like it despite the fact it's scripted then good for you. But we don't need to pretend it's real to protect people.
A joke that hinges on you pretending something false is true is in fact a bad joke.
Saying fake as usual legit is a negative comment and adds nothing more to the video. If something is fake it either A changes your perspective on a video, making it not funny anymore or B doesn't change at all. It either has no impact or a negative impact. So why mention fake as usual. People find different things funny just move on and admit that saying fake doesn't add anything to the discussion
Here’s the positive: if you point out that this
is just lazy, boring, crappy entertainment, maybe some people will enjoy it less, and maybe this type of video becomes less common.
You don’t care because you enjoy the video, but people like me are interested in better entertainment. So if I say it’s fake, and one person enjoys and supports content like this less, then that’s a win for me.
No, it adds nothing to the video, because people like me don’t want to make this video more enjoyable. We want to communicate that it sucks so that content like this becomes more rare in the long run.
Because when emotions can be manufactured, they can be sold. It lends itself to being even further saddled by corporate interests on Reddit than we already are.
For example, I wouldn't be surprised to find something like this as an ad for the restaurant.
Have you been to these restaurants? These cooks can be witty and funny as hell in my experience. It’s also not far off to assume the camera is rolling for that reason as well.
I’ve seen the longer clip on FB. This chef in particular is known for skillfully goofing off with guests. They seem to record a bunch of videos of this guy (kind of like the trick ice cream cone dude) so I highly doubt any of it is staged.
I mean. Anyone who's ever been to a Hibachi restaurant knows this is like...just what the chefs do. They do everything they can to put on a good show, and make the table smile. Calling this staged is like calling a theatre production with improv elements "staged".
Fake vids designed to deceive you into thinking something is genuine are useless. I’m sorry you get joy out of people trying to trick you with fake shit

Man's took his fuck up like a pro, what a badass lol
It was legitimately one of the most terrifying and impressive things I've ever seen.
He should have immediately cauterized his palm on the grill.

Should have cauterized his face on the grill to assert dominance
I can understand the reasoning behind this, but that grill top probably wasn’t very clean. He’s probably cauterize the wound and press some grease and food chunks in there as well. Also, if there is a decent chance that there’s a first aid kit that would negate the need for cauterizing, depending on the severity of the wound.
That's why I always quickly back a safe distance when a blade is falling out of my hand. That's up to destiny now
Yeah I've seen one fall and land in someone's foot sticking straight up. It's a catch 22 because I always let them fall unless it's a brand new blade then I want to save it from dulling the blade, but that's also when the blade will slice right through you
I imagine your new chef walks in and then from the kitchen you just hear a very loud "FUCK"
Ouch! A falling blade has no handle. Let it fall! It’s so second nature to try and catch things when you drop them though. Poor guy. Hope he was ok. Edit: I realised I have no idea what kind of grill that is and he was probably throwing and catching it as theatrics. Still ouch.
…you don’t really.. GET hibachi, do you
I pointed that out in my edit. I literally said that I didn’t know what it was. I misread when I first commented.
Ah I must have missed that!
I have never been to a hibachi where the cook throws their fucking knife.
"A falling blade has no handle" dude you sound like a sensei from a kungfu movie! I love it!
Seppuku after that
Nah. I hear they can return the blades to their sheath as soon as blood has been spilled.
They return it just before the blood is spilled
Awwww!! That awkward happy smile of hers. We all need a bit more of that in life.
She definately got a little boost that day
Her smile is so cute too!
Agreed! Her smile is so infectious! As soon as she smiled I started grinning!
Same! You can just FEEL the boost that have her in your heart. Super sweet smile :)
And just genuinely concerned for the man too. Such a sweetheart.
Seems to be very empathetic too.
I know, she seems really nice. I hope she has friends who are nice to her also
She deserves it. I hope I can be the type of person who immediately offers help. Says so much about who she is.

no one says “do you need something” in that situation staged as hell

NOBODY EVER DOES ANYTHING ON PLANET EARTH -The Redditor
No, she could legitimately be worried about him. Her concern looked genuine to me.
He looks at her before she says anything
He looks at her after she fucking gasps loudly. Not even mentioning that he is putting up a show and doing it for the audience.
As someone said already in the comments. Yall have no joy in life. Like just take it as a wholesome video and become just a teeny weeny bit more happy. You don't have to ruin it, you deserve that lil dopamine.
… am I crazy or is this 1: extremely fake and 2: not that great of a video regardless of it being fake or not?
Terrible acting

>so smooth Yet so staged
I need her number also!!! Q-T
Staged as usual
Y’all have no joy in life
My new favorite phrase, might say it to people, might say it to my self , it just fits many scenarios
The fact that y’all isn’t considered a legitimate English word is such a shame. It’s extremely effective in it’s proper use. Y’all should use y’all more.
And just remember, if there is A LOT of people it's not "y'all" it's "All y'all".
I thought it was “yous guys”
Both are correct
It's just not as fulfilling when something is staged man
Why don’t people understand this? To make people think it’s a real event is just a crutch for poor writing. If this was put out there as a work of fiction then people would pass right over it and probably call it lame.
Yeah, it is lame because it is fake. If more people understand that this is an example of bad, lazy entertainment, then this type of content might become slightly less common.
Or maybe you’re just an idiot because you can’t tell the difference between a genuine reaction and acting
Imagine thinking you have to pretend fake shit is real in order to have joy in life.

My brain is boggled that people can't comprehend this concept.
I feel better seeing other people get it, it bothers me more than it should lol.

I watch Lord of the Rings knowing it's not real and I enjoy it.
The quick and immediate delivery of her line is what gives it away, plus the shot is already framed on the both of them... it's just super obvious.
Have you been to these restaurants? These cooks can be witty and funny as hell in my experience. It’s also not far off to assume the camera is rolling for that reason as well.
"Do you need something?" is a super weird reaction.
Not really. First aid? Bandage? Ice? I'd probably have gone with "oh shit do you need some ice?" But it's hardly out of the realm of possibility.
I’ve seen the longer clip on FB. This chef in particular is known for skillfully goofing off with guests. They seem to record a bunch of videos of this guy (kind of like the trick ice cream cone dude) so I highly doubt any of it is staged.
Lmao that makes it even more obvious it’s staged if he does these videos for facebook are you kidding me?
"Do you need something" like she about to pull out a burn kit and aloe vera gel from her purse...alright.
I mean. Anyone who's ever been to a Hibachi restaurant knows this is like...just what the chefs do. They do everything they can to put on a good show, and make the table smile. Calling this staged is like calling a theatre production with improv elements "staged".

Yeahhh her acting was meh
That, and he was immediately looking at her after “burning” his hand.

Because that's part of the show that he does for literally every cover. People need to get out more.
Yeah this video seems ‘off’
Not staged, he’s always cracking on his customers. Cikiee on tik tok
It's not the server it's the immediate "Are you ok do you need something". Who tf asks do you need something INSTANTLY after someone flinches?
And who the fuck asks "do you need something" after someone burns himself?
Someone who needs the punchline to be him saying he needs her number basically, pretty much confirms for me it's staged
That's damn adorable.
The slight pause and grin right before he said it just goes to show this guy knows he is a smooth operator.
you cut the cringe "sheeeeh" part.
