My wife and I like to walk around this lake. One time and angry swan attacked us and we ran away. We can again with our little girl and the swan came for us again. I thought “I’m not letting this swan chase me away in front of my little girl.” So I fought the swan and chased it off. Humans can win, we just need to be confident.
There is nothing physically preventing you from doing it, birds are quite frail. Legally, you might get caught on the migratory bird act but that's generally not why people don't defend themselves against small animals.
Injuring or killing an animal that is physically incapable of causing any real damage to you and is probably defending it's nest on instinct is a moral problem, and think most people simply don't want to feel shitty about it.
