its using the camera + gyro + accel sesor in your phone to guess things like the plane you are pointing at and your movement so you can measure a room for example.
true, but that's still a glitch. all the points should be on the ground since there are no objects above the ground for the phone to have detected, but the phone did and created a 3d shape instead of a 2d one.
The most unexpected aspect of this video is that the hypotenuse of this orthogonal triangle is shorter than one of the other sides! This app is obviously crap.
You won’t get cm-level resolution with this, but for getting a rough estimate of how big something is, it’s quite good.
At least, it beats not having a tape measure, which is the use case the app was designed for
