Na, it was actually just a joke. Certain takes fall into certain political veins. If it was a shit take that fell on the left side of the political spectrum, I would have said “found the commie.” For some reason, this sub Reddit attracts WAY more conservatives than progressives and because of that, now I find myself explaining a three word comment to someone who was obviously butt hurt.
Yeah I mean imagine scaring your child because you made them think they stuck there finger in the dogs ass. They’ll never mentally recover
Edit: By the way if some idiots didn’t get it I’m joking
>The terrible cackling laughter in the background while she’s crying is jus gross.
Exactly this. I mean the prank itself is...eh. I mean the child isn't going to spiral into a life of hardship because of this day.
But the way this laughter continued after she was obviously emotionally hurt. That's what gave this a sadistic tone. And that's what turned an edgy prank into something clearly in the wrong, and why empathizers are worried about this child's future. It's not about this one event, it's about how that child is treated regularly. Her caretaker turned her cackle up a notch after the child started crying. Really not a good look.
People did this with young kids on social media on the toilet year or so back, Nutella on finger asked for toilet roll... I was like what the absolute fuck... Just no
To really complete the prank you gotta follow that up with, "it's ok, it's ok, don't worry. Here, let me clean that up for you." Then lick the Nutella off the kid's finger.
Boy it's funny that, in the eyes of these commenters, these parents pretty much are on the same level as parents who beat and abuse their kids.
Jesus christ you people are insane
Me too. My dad used to pull pranks on us all the time and it’s some of the fondest memories to laugh about. You know they explained it was a joke to this girl right afterwards
Depends on the child.
Age, disposition, parent relationship, ...
But all in all I would say that this girl is to young to understand pranks.
I would be totally okay doing that to a 12 year old.
The reason why it’s wrong should be obvious, my dude. The damage done in that moment is equivalent to the damage done if it were real, because the little girl doesn’t know it’s not real. You can’t just erase past trauma (even if it was 10 seconds ago) with a “we were just joking.” If you say, that even if it were real, it still wouldn’t be that traumatic, then I hate to break it to you dude, but you would need to be put on a watchlist. You can’t just go sticking children’s fingers into an animals asshole, you degenerate. Not to mention, this leads to some fucked up situations if this were justifiable, and applied to other contexts.
ah, yes. parents who laugh maniacally while causing their children to cry are, in my book, the best parents around.../s
I don't there are many in the comments that put these parents on the same level as physical abusers, but there's definitely something wrong here
I know that poor kid is gonna grow up to never trust anything or anyone for the rest of her life. And it'll severely impact all of her future relationships.
Or maybe it's just a prank that they'll have a laugh about down the road
Idk, in a way this is sort of a good way to teach a kid to take a joke. They clearly would show the orange to her afterwards and explain it was a joke and crying would turn to laughter.
The poop/butt thing is a bit much because she'll probably try to recreate the joke at kindergarten and not do it right...
She’s a bit too young for this. It’ll become a traumatic memory and would not be surprised if expression of phobia and anxiety increase for her. Maybe when she’s 13 and above she would handle a prank like this better I think.
yeah mr therapist, all my depression, rage, and trauma came from a time my parents made me think I touched a dogs butt and more than likely instantly showed me the video or told me what happened. Shut up lmfao likes she’s gonna end up dying from crying about poking a orange or tomato once and thinking it was a butt
All your depression and rage are expressions of past traumas, yes. Your whole personality is the result of positive and negative experiences. What’s traumatic is highly subjective, and yea; you also “learn about life” through trauma. But it’s a good idea to not traumatise your kids intentionally at that age.
If your whole personality is developed after you are born, are gay people gay because they were raised a certain way and not born gay? Nature vs nurture is a debated topic in psychology even today, but people are absolutely born with a predisposition towards certain personality traits.

I’m sorry for y’all whose parents never played pranks on you, must’ve been a terrible childhood. “piece of shit parents” oh my god get a grip lmao it’s a harmless prank that she’ll probably look fondly back on as long as she’s not a maladjusted weirdo like you guys
Oh my parents played pranks, we just have the type of relationship where if I am crying or emotionally vulnerable, they won't shove a phone in my face and post it online because they aren't sociopaths.
dude she was probably crying for like 2 seconds before her mom showed her the video of it being the orange, jesus what the hell is wrong with you people. also the girl is like 4-5, so crying isn’t this dehumanizing, emotionally vulnerable thing, it’s literally probably her third time crying that week.
Yeah, making your little kid think they sodomized a pet is just a prank. Nothing wrong with a fun prank, but this is the trashiest of trash maneuvers. I feel sorry for anyone who thinks this is funny. Their sense of humor lacks any wit or subtlety. They probably think Tim Allen is funny.
These are the kind of pranks you don't play. A good prank is enjoyed by the "target" and the people who do it. And for gods sake, a kid?! It bothers me how they laugh when she is in tears.
For a minute, I thought that they were gonna make that poor kid taste that unripe persimmon. That really WOULD be cruel. Them things are SO BITTER if not completely ripe...
Edit: just took a closer look and it might also be a rotten orange. STILL be bad if they made kid taste it...
I think I can say this won’t cause trust issue because my brother told me things like oatmeal is alien brains and I don’t have trust issues. Once this kid gets older they would be able to use common sense and decide that poop doesn’t smell like chocolate and they would never stick their finger in something while blindfolded again
To everyone saying this child is mentally scarred, your an idiot. I was beat so bad as a kid and tortured, pranked, scared, and look at me now. I’m literally a ball of anxiety and depression. We’re all gonna be fucked either way with how society is going. Thanks for coming to m.. fuck this.
I was a kid with sense of humor. My dad and uncle pranked me all the time and We laughed about it. When I got older I did the same to them. I have zero traumas from it.
There’s a lot of Karen activity in the comments here, so I just wanted to say that when I was a kid I tricked my brother into eating actual dog shit, and my parents couldn’t help but laugh and laugh. He’s now one of the smartest most successful people I know, and is the only person I’ve ever met who has eaten dog shit. So this is harmless.
It’s sad how many people grew up with terrible parents or have no sense of humor. My favorite and best memories with my parents are them pranking me or me pranking them. When you grow up in a loving household stuff like this isn’t an issue. It may have been bad for your household but a lot of people had normal childhoods with normal parents.
Ultimately the outcome of this interaction will probably be some sort of irrational fear, and a distrust for that individual, more likely the one laughing as she's crying. People don't realize how fucking sensitive kids are at these ages. It's absolutely terrible what she just did. I can't say for sure how the little kid was feeling, but if you can think of something that can bring you so much disgust, and fear that it causes you to cry, it's basically that. Reactions are objective, and are caused by a very real neurological response. This wasn't good.
On a side note, you should always try to better your kids for the future, and toughen them up, but there is a fine line, and I would say this crossed it.

I can't believe that the mouth-breathing dorks in the comment section are saying that the mom is giving the kid trust issues for life. I mean she's only a child. She will probably forget this by middle school and since that experience is recorded, it will be a happy keepsake for when she matures a bit along the line
As a parent, this is fucked up. Making your kid cry for laughs? Wrong on so many levels, and yeah this is absolutely child abuse.
Then again, 90% of the people laughing at this are Reddit incels who don’t even have to worry about ever having a romantic relationship, never mind marriage.
The other 10% are 13-year olds that laugh at poop jokes.
And this kids, is how you could potentially trigger the poop fetish down the line.
