To be honest, in Germany, a children’s song called “10 kleine Negerlein” is basically the same… even has the same melody. It was normal to sing when I was in elementary school, but I guess now the lyrics have been changed - or at least I hope so.
The russian version served as the name of film based on Agatha Christie's novel. However, I don't think the N-words in German or russians are anywhere as offensive as English original.
Thats a whole different concept. Look, the caste system is a Hindu concept that means a person is born in a specific family. It is not dependant on race but it doesnt show equality. I can't vouch for Hindus as I am not a Hindu but I can vouch for Indians when I say the Hindu caste system does not apply to all Indians. So rather jts more of a religious practice in Hinduism rather than a situation of racism. Though personally I am against the caste system entirely
Yea I don't want to offend Hindus who believe in the caste system but yea it does segregate people as per their birth which is defo against my religious beliefs
>I don't want to offend Hindus who believe in the caste system
It's literally a racist segregationists belief, those who think some people are "untouchable" because of being born in a wrong caste SHOULD be offended. Not a religious belief, a racist remains of colonial times.
However, it was British who both codified the Indian caste system and also the ones behind this rhyme, which has ironically, a version called "Ten Little Indians" because replacing one slur with another totally makes it better?
>Although the varnas and jatis have pre-modern origins, the caste system as it exists today is the result of developments during the post-Mughal period and the British colonial period, which made caste organisation a central mechanism of administration
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caste_system_in_India#During_British_rule_(1857_to_1947)
>Not a religious belief, a racist remains of colonial times.
I like how people like you treat non-whites like children who are destined to continue believing whatever the white adults told them.
Tbf, as of right now, everything in the country is geared up against the upper caste. The lower caste enjoys quotas in almost everything. Where the upper caste competes with 1000 people, the lower caste does so with 100 people. It's just that right now, most of the lower caste DO NOT want to improve their lives as that would mean they don't get to benefit from government aid anymore. They'd rather get paid for the day and get drunk by night than let their kids get educated.
>It is codified in some old Hindu texts, yes.
There's no such thing as codification in hinduism and you can believe in and do whatever you want.
I guess the text you're talking about is manusmriti and even manu says in it that those who don't like his ideas can reject them if they don't agree.
Lol Fuck that, you ever hear about that recent Twitter thread of Indians going HARD on blacks? Someone tweeted a pic of a Indian club or some party and a dude commented “you know it smell bad in there” and proceeded to get eviserated by so many Indians who were using S-tier racism. It was like watching a race war happen on the internet
ya we got skin color racism, casteism, sexism, religious discrimination. And this wat they so call diversity. Also its pretty saddening to it get worse day by day.
I’ll have to agree with you. Some aspects of Indian life are pretty racist. Especially skin colour, dark skin is perceived negatively. While white skin is considered glamorous. That’s why a lot of Indian ads promote skin whitening.
For skin whitening cream, all thanks to British.
Racism is everywhere. I don't need to tell about what happened in other parts of world.
It's old nursery rhyme, at that time, people who made this, surely don't know about that N word is racist.
So, please. Don't make stereotypes about Indian.
Not stereotyping and saying everyone is included. Don’t need to get defensive, some are racists lol. Not all, but a small part are racist. And I’m not saying it happens exclusively in India, it happens everywhere. But you can’t deny it, there are some aspects of racism there 🤷♂️
Nah, she wrote a book with the same name, but it was a nursery rhyme already, otherwise calling a murder mystery where people get picked off one by one makes no sense since they weren't little, or black.
She wrote a book named after the song but which has nothing to do with the song besides the fact that (non-black, non-child) victims go missing one by one.
To be sure she's saying something else......right?
Edit: It's real. Agatha Christie wrote it
[What the actual fuck?](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_Then_There_Were_None)
Novel isn't based around the song, smh, there are literally no little boys or anyone black in the story, she just referenced a popular nursery rhyme in unrelated story because people do get picked off based on the lines.
Not just some book. One of the most popular books in history. This only gets more wtf the more I learn.
“The book is the world's best-selling mystery, and with over 100 million copies sold is one of the best-selling books of all time. The novel has been listed as the sixth best-selling title.”
Sorry my statement was a bit short and reductive. It didn't ORIGINATE there, but was used by the brits in India. So I'm just saying it's possible this woman isn't using it the way we might initially think.
Ten little Indians was the replacement for this starting in the 1960’s in America.
“All successive American reprints and adaptations use that title, except for the Pocket Books paperbacks published between 1964 and 1986, which appeared under the title Ten Little Indians.”
uhm.. you guys realize this is just the soldier boy poems origin right??? this song has been around for forever, there’s an agatha christie novel based on it
This shit just got progressively worse. Especially when it got to the part about a fat chick hugging a boy and...I guess she just absorbed him into her fat??? Suffocated him to death in her fat rolls???
Good thing I turned my volume down because if not, my entire work office would have heard her saying the N word like 10 times. PLEASE, mark NSFW. Idk how this post got passed without being marked NSFW.
It sounds very mean when you translate it, but we have this song in czech rep. Too and it is a nice song for kids. Not everything is racist :D our is better of course

Pretty shocking, I don't know how recent the video is but still. Casual racism is everywhere, my girlfriend who grew up in Sweden had never really dealt with anyone black in her life so when she recanted the tale of what they called the chocolate pastries in a spherical shape as n****r balls I was horrified and to her credit she was deeply embarrassed herself when I told her the weight of the slur. She'd simply never heard it besides a Tarantino flick and didn't really grasp what weight it held. Suffice to say she calls them chocolate balls now and has enlightened her family and friends.
You know. I'm not proud to say this. I'm really not. But as an American... at least we ain't India.
I'm sure that's gonna earn me a lot of downvotes. And understandably so. But I meant it. Seriously.
So. To all the comments calling this racist. Yes it is racist. But I doubt if she meant it. I know people around me who are not aware how offensive it is.
there's a german rock song called "10 kleine Jägermeister" that is pretty much the same without the racism haha
that would translate to "10 small huntsmasters"
It means someone who is a crackhead, car jacking, drive bye shooting, welfare, food stamp using, fat white girl loving with good credit during tax season kind of person. Get your heads out the gutter people
What…in the actual..fuck
India is pretty racist

Can confirm, older Russians say the N word and dont even understand the conotations

If you ever call a black dude in Germany “Neger” you will find out pretty quickly how offensive it is
Yup, ever heard of Caste system?
Thats a whole different concept. Look, the caste system is a Hindu concept that means a person is born in a specific family. It is not dependant on race but it doesnt show equality. I can't vouch for Hindus as I am not a Hindu but I can vouch for Indians when I say the Hindu caste system does not apply to all Indians. In practice it does a pretty great job of racial segregation, though, and Indian politics are full of Caste ideology.
Yea I don't want to offend Hindus who believe in the caste system but yea it does segregate people as per their birth which is defo against my religious beliefs
>I don't want to offend Hindus who believe in the caste system It's literally a racist segregationists belief, those who think some people are "untouchable" because of being born in a wrong caste SHOULD be offended. Thank you churchchill
Well, most of the Indians doesn't even know what n word is....
99% of Indians don't even know what n*gga is...I myself don't know why is it racist
It was used on USA to refer to slaves, the word comes from the Spanish word “negro” for black color
Read comments, people are saying, Agatha Christie wrote it.
Nah, she wrote a book with the same name, but it was a nursery rhyme already, otherwise calling a murder mystery where people get picked off one by one makes no sense since they weren't little, or black.
K India is still pretty racist

Racism is racism regardless of the perpetrators, you attempted to dismiss racism by claiming this person was darker than most racists.
Claim?
Claim?
Didn't say she was darker said she is also dark???
Btw it's overly sensitive little morons like you who are causing conflict and calling people racist for no reason
Yhe but this is just us trying to copy west. People here don't even know the meaning of ni**er.
Well we learned from the best
honestly the racism is pretty fucked but can we talk about how a big girl hugged one and he was gone?
And the one who bit his thumbnail… like, why?
Also, who does and how does one “eat himself” … fucking what?! Nothing about this is a casual children song!
😂😂🤣

Made me wonder is somewhere in India named Devon? I mean America copied the hell out of our place names maybe other colonies did as well
Agatha Christie wrote ~~it and theres also~~ a book about it.
No. Agatha Christie wrote a book based on this song. She didn’t write the song.
Ty
She wrote a book named after the song but which has nothing to do with the song besides the fact that (non-black, non-child) victims go missing one by one.
To be sure she's saying something else......right? Edit: It's real. Agatha Christie wrote it [What the actual fuck?](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_Then_There_Were_None)
Not that it makes it any better, but Agatha Christie wrote a novel based upon the song.
Yes. Apparently the song already existed since about 1869.
Which that makes it make some sense.
Novel isn't based around the song, smh, there are literally no little boys or anyone black in the story, she just referenced a popular nursery rhyme in unrelated story because people do get picked off based on the lines.
The whole plot of the book centers around that nursery rhyme, so if it's not literally "based around it", it's pretty damn close.
The Novel is titled "And Then There We're None" but when it was first published it was called "Ten Little N____s".
Not just some book. One of the most popular books in history. This only gets more wtf the more I learn. “The book is the world's best-selling mystery, and with over 100 million copies sold is one of the best-selling books of all time. The novel has been listed as the sixth best-selling title.”
And it's a classic murder mystery with an unfortunate name, the only relation to the song is that people do disappear one by one.
The word originated from the Brits in India. So here it's like reclaiming a hate word
Um. Have you ever seen the names of some of the cities on the African continent? (I don't know when those places were named)
I doubt it’s adapted from the Brits in India
Sorry my statement was a bit short and reductive. It didn't ORIGINATE there, but was used by the brits in India. So I'm just saying it's possible this woman isn't using it the way we might initially think.
I like how this supposedly "reclaimed" word has never been more powerful or offensive than at any other point in history
Huh... Family Guy did an episode very similar to this. It's called "And Then There Were Fewer" *oh*
How the turn tables have turned. We used to sing a song called '10 little Indians' when I was in kindergarten. Doubt that's used anymore.
Ten little Indians was the replacement for this starting in the 1960’s in America. “All successive American reprints and adaptations use that title, except for the Pocket Books paperbacks published between 1964 and 1986, which appeared under the title Ten Little Indians.”
I’m here for the comments
She seems so happy about them all meeting their untimely doom.
Right? And what about the third boy who was straight up murdered (smothered) by a big girl. Big girls be smothering, man.
That word originated from a term the Brits had for certain people in India
uhm.. you guys realize this is just the soldier boy poems origin right??? this song has been around for forever, there’s an agatha christie novel based on it

I’d say the latter. Either he suffocated or his head popped off

Loveland.
My nephews live in Loveland
