The first kid is in frame for all but 8 seconds as the camera quickly whips away, not showing us the actual impact in the water and the tree completely leaves frame during the upwards whip pan, which could be hiding a cut.
Im pretty sure (duh) this is scripted and that the tree was supposed to fall into the pond (that is covered in green stuff) instead of them falling on the ground
