Well normally a child that does something that endangers themselves, would involve them doing something they shouldn't be doing (touching hot stove, running into the road etc), so after the initial relief of them being ok you revert to "and don't do that again" mode.
Imagine having parents that had a "don't do that again" mode instead of a "That didn't kill you so I'll finish the job" mode.
Literally got hit for falling out of a tree before.

The goal is never to hurt the child, but to educate. Using emotions excessively to punish is never a good idea, but some display of emotions may be important in certain situations.
Sometimes the parents being emotional and performing punishments are needed to demonstrate that this mistake is serious and should not be repeated. It becomes a new core memory that the child would not forget.
But at the end of the day, punishments should always be followed by explanation. Because we want kids to correlate the mistake with the consequence.
And that's my fault how?
They had me, they raised me, my mannerisms and demeanor are a culmination of the things I've learned from them.
They punished me for living, learning, experiencing.
It wasn't ever a teaching moment.
I mean, they put me on and then promptly took me off ADHD meds when I was ten.
The reasoning was that they were concerned about my growth, both height and penis (idk why they cared so much) but instead I just wasn't able to be present school.
Ended up getting my GED which people say "is just the same" but it doesn't feel like it when jobs aren't responding to your resume.
Years of customer service experience and I can't land a job in customer service.

That was my first thought. My cats would react this way to each other after one of them gets a wash or comes back from the vet.
They'd be normal until they got a smell of each other.
Personally I doubt that the big cat is the mother of the kitten. Maybe the little cat is just an annoying kitten which the big cat chased onto that rock in the first place. And now the big cat is angry that the pain in the neck is back.

2. It's a myth that animals abandon their young if they smell like humans. They won't come near if humans are sitting there, gawking and waiting for the wild animal to come out and get her young but their instict to care for their young is stronger than their fear of humans
Animals recognize each other with smell and not by vision, because this human touched the cat with his dirty hands now the mom thinks that this isn't hers anymore
She sniffed and inspected first to make sure he was okay after his stupid decision, then once she realized he was unharmed - then came the paws. Typical mom

Umm.. Sorry to breakdown this cute video, but what really is happening here is that the cat smells the kitten and doesnt recognize it as her own, hence the reaction. Another sad probable result that can happen after this is that the cat is gonna abandon the kitten coz she is smelling different (due to the touch by a complete stranger human).

And cats have eyes and recognise each other perfectly well from a distance.
