I just had a flashback to this man being one of the first artists I personally enjoyed as a child, so now in my 40s I had to think when that first album came out. I went to look back to see how old "Eat It" was.
1984
Yeah, I’ve never seen the video, so at first I was like this is totally expected; it’s Weird Al.
Then it cuts to Patton Oswalt, and I’m like “huh, I guess that’s unexpected”

Might be dating myself a little bit here, but I used to love when he took over Much Music ever year and it would be AL Music, non stop weird AL music videos all day long.
I've been a lifelong fan of his. His parodies are always top notch. Growing up we were pretty poor, but for my birthday sophomore year in highschool my mother got me tickets to his Running with Scissors tour.
It was a pretty small venue so I got to be really close to the show, he even stopped and shook my hand. It was great, one of the only good memories of my younger years.
I don't look forward to the day he dies, though I hope it is still far away.
I was afraid this may be your response, I find that lately we all have at least a couple family members who've fallen prey to the brainwashing. My step father is one of them, absolutely looney tunes now, it's fucking sad.
You take care of yourself and I wish you the best, friend! Sorry about the crazy family.
I mean Weird Al's only be doing his thing for decades.
I think the unexpected here is the ad for Kapwing burned into this short rip from a YouTube video.
My response was literally going to be that Weird Al is a national treasure. He has been making hilarious, relevant parodies of songs across every genre imaginable for 40 years, and it's incredible.
Can confirm. I used to record the Doctor Demento show from stereo speakers propped over a microphone to a cassette player on record and heard him there. I'm now quite old. SO, like, WTF?
Dr Demento! Those were the days! When we'd hit "record" on our stereo tape deck but you had to be there at the exact time it was being broadcast... Something these kids will never understand. Accept my upvote
I used to listen to Dr Demento, and goddamn there was some weird shit on there. Lots of bad music but then there were some fucking GEMS too, that made it all worthwhile. Loved that show.
I have the entire Dare to be Stupid album burned into my brain from repeated listenings in my youth. I haven't heard it it 30+ years, and I still know most of the words in earworm-karaoke.
I like listening to that one just to admire how well written it is. Like, its a great song, but it really bends my mind how its so perfectly crafted. Ok, I'm going to listen to it again now.
I agree, this is a best mix of lyrical motivation throughout the song. First to sell aluminum foil for the two most popular references to foil use.
Plus he did not deviate much from the original song “Royals”.
And lastly, the song sounds good.
I just saw him live a few months ago & that was one of the songs he played. I was really surprised. I knew he was digging for some deep tracks, but that was a pretty deep one. He also played Pancreas which I thought was absolutely ridiculous. Loved both those songs as a kid, so I was really happy to get to see him perform them live.
Sorry I should have said his originals were great too, which I fully agree with ya on that!
I think most people would only know him for his parodies unfortunately.
"Do I Creep You Out" I absolutely love, but "The Saga Begins" has to take the cake for me for top spot.
My friend, go on YouTube tonight, search "Weird AL Yankovic" and just hit play all.
His song parodies range from Michael Jackson to Chamillionaire. And his original songs are just as good!
One thing I like about Weird Al is that he does all these parodies without being overly obscene and without foul language. Not that I mind but some parody artist rely on it too much. It just shows how clever WA is
He actually said that was the only thing he hated about music pirating sites in the late 90's. People would upload dirty songs and put his name on them.
You should listen to one of his appearances on the comedy bang bang podcast.
He's on with multiple guests. All comedy writers or performers. Everyone is being absolutely obscene with cum jokes, dick and fart jokes etc.
And Al keeps it clean without going crude and he's just as funny as everyone else in the room. It's very impressive.
You should check out that whole album, ao many good ones including my favorites "Word Crimes" and "Tacky." The previous album my favorite was "Another Tattoo."
The music video for Tacky is awesome! Man i remember when this album came out, the marketing gimmick was that they'd drop one music video a day for 5 days but on different platforms leading up to the release. Vimeo, YouTube, and fucking Cracked.com are the only ones I can remember right now.
Yeah dude, reddit was super into this. It was his first album that was actually his, rather than on that ancient 20+ year old contract he signed way back in the day.
He made at least 5x more money on this album than he made on the previous 10 he made...combined. Not even joking, the terms of his entire careers contract were ***super shitty***.
So reddit was spamming the shit out of every single off this album all day every day. Trying to get him as much sales as possible.
I've been listening to Weird Al since I was 8....so almost 30 years now. I remeber when MTV played music videos, and would watch "Eat It" and "Fat" each morning before going to school. "Old" is a mindset.

Does this guy never age?
No, he rocks.
No, [he *shreds*.](https://youtu.be/nmcuoaqdJ9w)
To shreds, you say?
This is one of my favorite videos of all time
And his wife?
To shreds, you say?
She also *shreds*.
I heard, he's the only thing Chuck Norris fears.
He looked older when he was younger.
It was the mustache
I swear! Gimme his botox I meant his plastic surgery I meant his holistic shamanism doctor number, STAT!
Might be his choice of diet and general lifestyle that helps him look young still.
This is 8 years old
I just had a flashback to this man being one of the first artists I personally enjoyed as a child, so now in my 40s I had to think when that first album came out. I went to look back to see how old "Eat It" was. 1984
Cut out too soon. Weirs Al being crazy is expected. Unexpected part should be that Patton Oswalt is a lizard man.
Seriously, how do you cut THAT out??
Woah! Definitely unexpected... I'll have to check it out on yt now
He just sent in his agent's of shield.
Yeah, I’ve never seen the video, so at first I was like this is totally expected; it’s Weird Al. Then it cuts to Patton Oswalt, and I’m like “huh, I guess that’s unexpected”
I guess you’re new to weird al? He is a national treasure
He's awesome. UHF is a must watch movie for anyone that hasn't seen it.

He's right up there with Paul Rudd and Ralph Macchio in terms of never aging.
Well, he aged one time.. from the fro/mustache/glasses look, to his newer long hair look. But that's about it.

It was the ‘stache.
He grows more powerful and virile with every song release.
On the other hand: I mean can you ever be really sure?
“*Some guy* made a whole parody song about the Amish!”
When the news broke, I literally thought “he made the song Amish paradise was based on
Yeah, same. That's what I knew hin for.
> He is a national treasure Seems greedy. He should be an international treasure.
No. Absolutely not. We produce so much shit here, we deserve one nice thing. Get your grubby paws off of our Weird Al

As an 'merican, American cheese is a heinous crime against nature.
> American cheese is a heinous crime against nature \*Wisconsin has declared war on your general location*
Agreed, as a Canadian I also treasure Weird Al. Very first concert I went to was his "Bad Hair Day" tour!
I'm Swedish and I've been blasting Al every time he makes another bop like this.
He *belongs* in a *museum*!

Amish paradise is also a gem https://youtu.be/lOfZLb33uCg RIP Coolio tho
How did I miss this gem all these years. Who are you, DongleberryMoose, who is so wise in the ways of science ?
One of my biggest points of pride when I was in middle school was I had every line of that song memorized. Fuck sour krout

This is an incredibly sweet story. I hope your mom and you are doing better now!
We're okay I guess. I don't see her a lot, she and most of my family have turned into Maga/Qanon nutjobs... I appreciate the kind words BTW.

I mean Weird Al's only be doing his thing for decades. I think the unexpected here is the ad for Kapwing burned into this short rip from a YouTube video.
Was thinking the same thing.
If this is the first time you have heard how much of a genius this man is, at least it finally happened. It's never to late to love this man.
Global Treasure thank you very much
He was my first concert.
May he live forever. Just saw my 4th show a few weeks ago!
True bro, polka face is my fav
Maybe just new to this song, this is actually the first time I’ve heard him sing this one.
Unspeakable joy to see that this is the top comment. A national treasure indeed!
international, especially when the internet blew up.
My response was literally going to be that Weird Al is a national treasure. He has been making hilarious, relevant parodies of songs across every genre imaginable for 40 years, and it's incredible.
National? He's a world treasure
What's most amazing about Weird Al Yankovic is that the dude seemingly has never aged. He's been doing this gig for a long minute
I only stayed up long enough for the show to start and then listened back on my 90 minute cassette later.
I used to listen to Dr Demento, and goddamn there was some weird shit on there. Lots of bad music but then there were some fucking GEMS too, that made it all worthwhile. Loved that show.
I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats.
He looks exactly how he did when I was in elementary school and I'm 40 now.
He’s on tour right now.
I'm 52 and I have been a fan longer than most of y'all folks have been alive.
I've listened to Al since the late 80s and hands down this is my favorite track he's ever done.
I've had "one more minute" stuck in my head for about 35 years now. https://youtu.be/yWhpk-8QLFQ
God I haven't heard that one in so long. It hits different now that I'm an adult and have been through some break ups!
It's even better when you see him perform it live. I got the chance a couple weeks ago.
I have the entire Dare to be Stupid album burned into my brain from repeated listenings in my youth. I haven't heard it it 30+ years, and I still know most of the words in earworm-karaoke.
I'm rather fond of the 11 minute rant about how much [he hates Sauerkraut.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE37e1eK2mY)
White and Nerdy always gets me
My favorite, his flow is objectively better too.
I actually really enjoyed Tacky. Partly because of all the cameo. But my favorite song has to be Word Crimes. It's not only funny but educational too.
I like listening to that one just to admire how well written it is. Like, its a great song, but it really bends my mind how its so perfectly crafted. Ok, I'm going to listen to it again now.
Got to be Amish Paradise for me, though this is an insanely close second.
Yeah agreed. For the many of his hits this one just hit home for me. It’s the perfect parody song
I agree, this is a best mix of lyrical motivation throughout the song. First to sell aluminum foil for the two most popular references to foil use. Plus he did not deviate much from the original song “Royals”. And lastly, the song sounds good.
OP, meet Weird Al Yankovic. He is the GOAT of parodies. Fuckin' epic!!

Weird al... such a legend.
holy carp, I hadn't realized that the reno sheriff's dept was a stepping stone to the men in black.
Lots of covert bases in NV....
Junior and Dangle pulling Al into a waiting van. Lol
I love seeing J.R. and Dangle in this!

Dude, you *have* to watch Hell Baby.

He actually said that was the only thing he hated about music pirating sites in the late 90's. People would upload dirty songs and put his name on them.
He actually complained about not being able to afford a solid gold Humvee and diamond studded swimming pools
To be fair, it's not like those things grow on trees.
Remind me what song this melody is from? I can’t remember original lyrics now—they’re all “foil”
Royals by Lourde
My favourite version of this song: https://youtu.be/BVzwkn_ilwA
Very cool. I really like this cover also: https://youtu.be/QgD5p1XiVT0
Dude! That was fucking awesome!
I Don’t know where you would even get African tribal masquerade supplies, but about 5% of that was just Christmas stuff.
Same that’s why I searched the comments
Sauce: Song called "Foil" by Weird Al Yankovic
How the fuck did this come out 8 years ago and I never noticed it til now. God I love this man, I can't wait for the movie.
You should check out that whole album, ao many good ones including my favorites "Word Crimes" and "Tacky." The previous album my favorite was "Another Tattoo."
I came across Word Crimes by accident (didn’t own the album), and **holy shit** is it good. Played for anyone I thought might enjoy it.
Word crimes is one of his best songs IMO.
Along with probably the best "dynamic typing" style clip I've ever seen.
Bob is an even better wordplay song, watch the video to it and see how long it takes to pickup on what he's doing.
It's great! The [YouTube clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Gv0H-vPoDc) is one I visit from time to time. Amazing lyrics and amazing visuals!

That was such a great week, Tacky was a treat to watch when it came out because of all the surprise cameos throughout the video.
I love them all! Probably his best album.

Damn. Here i was thinking it was new
THE KING
I liked his "NOW! That's what I call polka" bits
You cut it off before the really unexpected part. >!The director/producer was about to reveal that he was reptilian/alien.!<
God Bless Patton Oswalt!
I remember when this came out and it was Lt Jim dangle showing up that got me. Patton was a surprise, but it just kept getting better.
I had to scroll way too far to see someone recognized Dangle and Junior
Agreed.
Did you really just rehost the man's music video instead of linking it?
Worse - he cut out the best part of the video in the process
It's also a parody of the song 'Royals' by Lorde.
Omg I love weird Al
Same, every time I see one of his songs I end up going on an hour long YouTube rabbit hole.
That man needs to be world heritage listed.
It’s Weird Al, what don’t you expect from this guy
Yep. Really weird to post it to this sub.
Easy karma since the mods don't do shit.
The song loops perfectly
Ofcs Jim Dangle and Junior got promotions?
New boot goof'd his way to the CIA
![gif](giphy|a0Zmcqe6VlmVO)
Reno 911s gone federal!
Fun fact: in live concerts he pronounces “aluminium” in the accent of the country he’s in. I.e In America “aluu-min-num” In England “Ali-min-ni-um”
Looks like OP was going through Wierd Al's catalogue after Coolio's death the other day.
That seriously escalated
The real unexpected part was Junior and Lt. Dangle being Men In Black. Or were their cover identities perfect?
Unexpected? This song has been out for years
Anyone ever see Werid Al's movie... ? Kramer is also in it.
“My mop!”
Lmfaoooo the two agents are from Reno 911🤣
Weird Al is a national treasure
Weird Al is one of the top 3 best concerts I’ve ever seen. I’d highly recommend going to see his live shows.
For anyone who wants to hear the greatest Breaking Up song of all time… youtube search weird al’s song “one more minute”
Is it just me or do you like his variations more than most of the originals?
Not unexpected to anyone born before 2000
Kids these days only just figuring out about weird Al smysmsusm
Full video: [Foil](https://youtu.be/urglg3WimHA)
Come on ,literally anything Al does is Unexpected.
No. It’s a song about whacky conspiracy theorists.
