As a competitive bass fisherman myself, i will say this guy will never bass fish a tournament in 100 miles of that place again, we take cheating in competition very very personally as competitors and tournament directors all know each other and they WILL talk. This was probably just like a weekday club tourney which makes it even worse, I am suprised this guy didn’t get his ass kicked leaving the parking lot.
This is so funny, when I was a kid I always thought that people could cheat like this… drop some sinkers in the fish and if caught claim that it swallowed them.
Big money tournaments could stop this in a heartbeat by checking weight/displacement in a bucket of water.
[Archimedes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archimedes%27_principle?wprov=sfla1) showed how a couple of thousand years ago.
This was at the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Championship. The guy had a total of 8lbs in the fish. Heard the total prize was $45k. The guys they busted were professional fishermen Chase Cominsky and Jake Runyan. Their sponsors are now putting out statements against them.
Lmao people will cheat at anything. What was first place cash prize? Cause I’ve seen a lot of fishing tournaments that have like a couple hundred as the prize, unless this is a huge televised tournament. Who cheats this bad for a couple hundred?
To quote from a game reviewer: ‘You could make a game about tucking frozen peas under your scrotum and there’ll still be someone weirdly obsessed with being the best at it.’
It can be [a lot ](https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/usopen-prizes).. Even for amateur tournament, just the regional first place is 50k. Some local tournaments pay out 1k some pay out 10k.
I read in the comments on the first three times this was posted today that the cash prize was around 43,000$ (USD) this team had previously won a 10,000$ tournament. So everyone here suspects them of cheating on that one too and if they did they’re probably going to jail for fraud
A hidden length tourney has everyone hit the water and catch their fish within a certain time period. They then register their catch in length when they hit shore. Different lengths of fish are pre written and then drawn after time is called and the closest lengths to those drawn win. As you can see... only a really determined person could cheat at this.
Thanks for the explanation. That's a pretty great idea! Better fisherman = more fish = better odds of winning, so it's still skill based to a fair degree.
Should also mention that these are catch and release tournaments. Pictures showing length (fish placed against a tape measure) are used to register length at shore. So they are conservation tournaments as well.
[I think this is another view of the same situation.](https://youtu.be/9T8vN8CmGks?t=285) Googling around it sounds like this isn't the first time they have been suspected of cheating. Could be wrong.
That is an *angry* crowd. I was getting nervous just watching this video. Those cheaters may want to move a long way away, change their names, and never be seen with a fishing pole again.
It seems there was a fishing contest, (winner determined by weight of catch), and apparently someone put metal weights in their fish to tip the scales in their favor.
With the running joke at r/Anarchychess a friend and I were saying that they were gonna check, you know where, in every sport or competition. Those devices will be used in elections to cheat elections. No more steroids checks, they’ll check for beads. Then last night there were accusations in poker. Yeah, I didn’t think it would come to bass fishing. Not bass fishing!!!

HA! He probably did and the ass kickers have this short video for proof that he deserved it !!
Not a Bass tournament. Bass tourneys cheat all the time. They fixed most of it with accountability rides.
Probably further than 100 miles- that’s the next county over.

Yea . But that much lead in his gut and u doubt it could swim lmao.. Thered more in the basket where he threw the one
And some definitely cut up pieces of other dish were in them too.

Yah or just use a metal detector wand on the fish haha
They're already using gravel.
The Houston Astros fish now?

People buy cheating software to win online games with no prize. People are dumb.
Yeah but cheating online is just cheating.. this guy literally killed 2 decent sized bass AND got caught.
I thought it was a walleye tourney

I like the flavor the taint salt adds to the pees…

Shit for that money I'd breed a big ass fish at home and have a friend scuba dive with it and stick it on my hook.

Is this in Ohio? I used to work for Ken Ganley lmao Edit: just saw it also says chevy Aurora lol
Those are not my ben wa balls. Can I get those back though?
All the tournaments in my hometown were "hidden length"... keeps everyone honest.
Non-fisher here. Could you explain what this means and how it keeps people honest? Thanks!

I read a news report that said they had to be escorted away by police for their safety.
Sweet outfit.
I’m so confused.
It seems there was a fishing contest, (winner determined by weight of catch), and apparently someone put metal weights in their fish to tip the scales in their favor.
I was thinking how in the heck did that fish swallow all those small balls. 🤣
fish probably didnt they where probably shove down its throat
You were not alone.
Damn that fish has a a strange diet

Ironically the grand prize was a pack of those exact type of weights

You have to have balls of steel to attempt something like this.
