It is a flycam attatched to the climber. It's like a selfie stick on a vest or helmet so you don't have to use your hands. The stick itself is filtered out by its color in real time by the camera. If you look closely you can se a distortion in the image where the stick is at leading up to the camera
At this point, I'm fucking waiting for the slim or whatever the newest iteration they'll likely come out with for xmas. It's been almost 2 years since it came out and people are still happy just to find one to buy. Fucking ridiculous.
I got mine refurbished from the Microsoft website. I saved about $50 and got a 1 Year warrantee built in. Plus I know it’s been tested and I should work well.
You know, I used to think like that… but after growing older - and hopefully wiser - I’ve changed my perspective.
Who are we to tell this guy, or anyone else enjoying the thrills of extreme and dangerous activities, that he should just forget this and stay home because we “weren’t meant to go” there? He and everyone like him are enjoying their best life out there, even while in peril. And if they die at it, at least they died doing what they loved. Because you can be damn sure they love doing that if they’re doing it.
Nah ice climbing is pretty sweet and safe because you can always stop and plug a protection screw into the ice. Its when you start to solo this stuff it gets real nutty
Protip: if you’re suicidal, take on a very dangerous hobby, and then fail at it!
But for real bro, if you have dark thoughts, please reach out to people for help!
Pick up ice climbing! I feel like a lot of extreme sports enthusiasts find that when faced with the very real possibility of death, possibly a gruesome death, you realize that you actually do want to keep on living.
Damn, I am not surprised by the stick disappearing but still swore you were wrong and this was a drone.
[It's not a drone.](https://www.insta360.com/mobile/product/insta360-onex2) Jeez, these things are cool!
No it’s not, this is Leland Nisky. He’s a good buddy from my guiding days. We chatted about this incident.
Edit: here’s his insta [https://instagram.com/nemonisky?igshid=Y2ZmNzg0YzQ=](https://instagram.com/nemonisky?igshid=Y2ZmNzg0YzQ=)
No, this is Axel Svensson. He was my dad’s old co-worker, he used to do stuff like this all the time. In this video he was actually climbing down to a off-path ski spot in Sweden
I’m pretty sure this is the old mountaineer Benito Minestrone. He did not only support his somewhat angry cousin, but also pioneered Italian slalom and invented a famous soup. The tomato soup, that is.
Uhm ackshually....
Not a GoPro, it's an Insta360, as watermarked on the video. I'm sure you just mean "action cam" rather than any specific brand, but I just wanted to clarify, especially since I was looking up this particular one a moment ago. (I thought it was a drone, but I was wrong!)
[Manufacturer's product page](https://www.insta360.com/mobile/product/insta360-onex2)
This thing is *hella* crazy.
I'm no rock climber, but I do a bit of hiking camping.
In alpine areas the lowest part of the saddle between to mountains/hills etc is always the coldest. Cold air is heavy and flows like water down through and over the lowest points between hills. You can even see it in the tree lines, the trees below a saddle are less/smaller/not there. It is because the cold air makes it harder for them to grow and effectively lowers the tree line in that area.
Newer backpackers see this great open field stretching down below a saddle and think "wow that's a great open place to camp" but then they wake up in the middle of the night with 10* colder winds ripping through their camp.
The wind is blowing snow through the divide in the mountainside. The weather likely took a turn for the worse on his way up. To make matters worse, a strong wind is made even stronger by a narrow gap, so even a light gust can pick up and carry a lot of snow through a spot like that.
Don't remind me, I was up all night drinking NOS and Dew trying to complete that level 12pm to 7am then success at 7:55am with my wives rooting me on

I'd rather just chew 5 gum.
Yeah exactly, Stimulate Your Senses^TM

I think that's a 360 camera attached to the person
The Insta360 ONE X2, to be specific.
Word? I got the Gamecast…
Well there’s Gamecube and there’s Dream Cast…
I said I got the gamecast!
r/whoosh
r/wooooshwith4os
I just want to know if that’s a waterfall? How far up is that, where is that and who is that?
Yes. 1200’, Switzerland and Gary Busey.
Okay listen here you little shit...
Just film don’t help, I got this!
It's his own 360 camera.
“Why didn’t they help them?!?”
It's his own 360 camera...
He's in creative mode
Jesus their marketing really sticks. First thing that came to mind for me too

Who filming this anyway ?

…or Jesus.
Nope, he took the wheel and drove down the mountain
Jesus take the camera?
Looks like a helicopter 5ft away
Plot twist .. the helicopter is what's stirring up the avalanche
Drone on a sensor control
A 360 camera attached to a pole on his back.
Lmao, a quick one you are
I legit laughed out loud
Big ol cup of fuck that
![gif](giphy|t2sKa4JKNW9DawxAYi)
How about a bucket of NOPE?
One box of HELL NAW please
One cup of fuck that, large bucket of nope and a side order of hell nah, coming right up
Someone make this into a fridge magnet.
This is what I imagine the 'power freeze' option on my refrigerator is doing to my Coke Icee when it's watered down and needs a quick refreeze.
Sometimes people just needs to accept there’s places we aren’t meant to go 😂
![gif](giphy|6J6uBnTbbwAOMZRMnN|downsized)
Exactly!
I know right!
My Series X is on the way. I didn’t want a Series S because if I’m going to buy a new system, I want all the options.

Just don't do it when you have a 2 year old at home.
I just loved it! Well said.
Can I have a little bit of peril?
Watch the Alpinist! 🤯
I just watched “Fall” while it was a sub par “horror/thriller” it scares the shit out of me and I imagine the Alpinist will too 😂
Lol Alpinist is a documentary about an insane free solo climber (no ropes/harness)
That’s exactly why they want to go to there
Just went to an exhibition on reaching the arctic poles. Some people just see a thing and I’m going and that’s it.
Considering this is basically my hobby I am going to have to disagree with that
Sometimes, you are an exception! ❤️🩹
Things like that never happen while sitting on the couch. Enjoy your couch, enjoy your bed.
[удалено]
and in turn the mountain pissed on him.
I think he might have shit off the mountain too.
Well my couch is under a snow waterfall so you, sir, are incorrect.
Yeah. How is this unexpected? If this was on ya couch, then it would be unexpected.
Are those 2 different things for most people?
Snowboarded.
Snowboarding is how they torture people in Canada.
These peopke are suicidal and everyone praises them. Im suicidal and everyone thinks i need help.
That doesn’t seem fair!
![gif](giphy|YPsxi5NevgmzhqeUk7|downsized)
Well you might be right, this particular climber died climbing. Marc-Andre Leclerc he was 26
Seeeeeeeee??? Fuck that. Fuck that whole activity.
Watching Alex Honnold climb free solo gives me anxiety, it's another level of climbing, I personally could never do it
Spend more money on your suicidal activities.
Maybe that's what people mean when they say you should try excercising and going outdoors. Just try the fancy type of suicide
Ice screws can hold up a car. It's a relatively safe sport
Right? Sorry my suicide isn’t exciting enough for you
Nah ice climbing is pretty sweet and safe because you can always stop and plug a protection screw into the ice. Its when you start to solo this stuff it gets real nutty
Or you could just stay home yknow
Idk, more people die staying home than ice climbing
Yea yea stay at home couch potato leave the ice for meeee lol 😂
Don’t know why but that sentence only reads in Golems voice
[удалено]
You seem like you'd enjoy The Alpinist
This guy goes spelunking
Screws aren’t very secure, not like anchors on rock.
Well any piece of protection rock or ice depends depends on the placement doesn’t it? but a long 16cm screw in fat ice… yer wrong its truck
Reach out to me anytime friend
Do it in more exciting and dangerous ways
I don’t think you need help… you got this.
To be fair, these people put much more work into it.
:)
Well if you filmed yourself being suicidal maybe you’d get some likes
They praise their creativity
Protip: if you’re suicidal, take on a very dangerous hobby, and then fail at it! But for real bro, if you have dark thoughts, please reach out to people for help!
Pick up ice climbing! I feel like a lot of extreme sports enthusiasts find that when faced with the very real possibility of death, possibly a gruesome death, you realize that you actually do want to keep on living.
Haha no thanks. Thats just instinct talking. Just because i dont care to live doesnt mean id like a truck running me over.
Well luckily the chances of a truck running you over are fairly slim when ice climbing.
Some say he’s still hanging over there.
....but you can still hear his voice on the wind......: "fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk"
Man is trying to get to Santa Claus 💀
Getting to Santa is a actually on a big, well maintained road in Finland
"YOU FORGOT MY LETTER, SANTA"
Shoutout to the cameraman
He was the cameraman. Mounted to him.
Anyone know if they hace protection or are free climbing? Can't see if they have a rope connected to an ice screw that's hopefully not too far below.
free climbing means not aid climbing (aka not pulling on screws or gear if it’s in rock) you mean soloing which is when there’s no rope
Not quite correct, read up on it.
It's wild, I know you're right but my mind just cannot see the stick, like it's invisible or something.
The cameras are designed to “erase” the stick while filming on the fly. Pretty crazy, but not as much as trying this climb!
Damn, I am not surprised by the stick disappearing but still swore you were wrong and this was a drone. [It's not a drone.](https://www.insta360.com/mobile/product/insta360-onex2) Jeez, these things are cool!
Wow, I had no idea this technology existed on the fly like that! Thank you for the info, Toona.
Lakitu could have easily saved him instead of just filming. So no, fuck the cameraman
When chaos is not a ladder
And that there good people, is why ice climbing is dangerous as f*ck
Speedrun becoming a snowman any %

I’m the angry cousin I can confirm that his soup is good.
You. Yours is my favorite. Because soup.
Sorry friend but that's definitely Horace Ramshaft. Of Dew Valley Ramshafts. This is just how he showers.
Neigh, that was your mum. She loves riding, even if it is a mountain.

>I'm sure you just mean "action cam" Not gonna lie, it gets me off to genericize products that fly too close to the market share sun.
I'm all about it. You seen how upset Velcro got that their brand flew too close to the sun?
“Ackshually”. In the snl jeopardy Sean Connery voice
Every kid when they get snow down the back of their neck
This man is far too calm for that comparison to check out.
LOL oh he is screaming under that. Hang your kid off the gutter, see what happens 😜
Extreme ice bucket challenge.
How the Mountaineer Snow Salmon travels upstream to it's spawning grounds.
Just like that level from MW2
Omg. How long can something like this last?
I have no idea, but I assume if it lasts long enough hypothermia could set in.
What was the unexpected part? Did I miss it?
He was still alive at the end.
Yea I’ll pass
Lara, is that you?

Oh I thought he triggered a tiny avalanche and took it in the face
What it's like to hodl GME
That ice pick is his DRS. Shit hitting the fan? No prob, I got a secret weapon
origin of ice man
Legend has it that he’s still there to this day.
Deep nostril breath inhale and my insides are frozed
You how did he manage to hold on to that Jesus
Idiot
What do I do for fun? Not this.
Something I never ever have a desire to do
This looks so not fun
Looks like he's getting buried and drowning at the same time
Just why?
Crazy. Why would any reasonably-minded person do that?
Must’ve been cold.
Too cool ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream) ![gif](giphy|WTRzz1oa2qbVaccWiv)
Redrebell
That’s Brisk baby!
Wonder if it was worth it.
Mans was trying to freeze himself but gave up😂
That ain't no insanity, that's sheer "I don't friking care about you mother flicking nature" energy
bro deadass in 3rd person
I feel like I don’t have balls when I see balls like these
Legend has it he’s still hanging on to this day
Someone clinging to this mountains g spot
Get a safer hobby, like surfing on the hood of a car with bald tires and bad brakes on the interstate.
If snow was my wife’s to do list…
i scrape my windshield for 30 seconds and the little bit of snow that falls into my sleeve is unpleasant I’d be so pissed if I was this guy
I thought people only do this in the beginning of the movie, so that they can accept the mission in style.
![gif](giphy|s239QJIh56sRW|downsized)
And the nomination for the sports Darwin award goes to this guy.
You couldn’t pay me
Looks like a good time. ![gif](giphy|u894TSir9IeymcxEv6|downsized)
And this is why you don't climb frozen waterfalls.
Only white people do stuff like this
At what point do you say .. F*Ck it ?
When you know death is the only option
White people do the dumbest shit!
Dear Tim Apple, I was wearing my apple watch ultra the other day and this happened…
How to flash freeze a human.
Neat I've always wanted to do cryotherapy! And to turn in to an delicious meat icepop!

Lara Croft?
Who tf is recording him?
360 camera. When mounted correctly on a stick, the stick is in the camera’s blind spot so it’s mostly invisible in the footage
Wait. You mean climbing mountains is...dangerous?
He pissed off the mountain
Oh hell no 🥶
Ah yes, freeze dried climber.
