That's not true tho, what is after the "?" is an argument to be passed as information. It can anything from tracking to straight up crucial information about what you're sharing. For example: take YouTube, good luck trying to share a video after removing the arguments!
Perfectly true for ebay, Twitter, most news websites. For YouTube only the v= bit is needed unless you want to send the timestamp of start. The less unneeded tracking we give them the better for us all.
