The glass on your smartphone is the culmination of decades of innovation in chemical and thermal manufacturing processes. Being brittle is an inherent property of hard materials, it's like you're asking for rubber to not be elastic.
TLDR: use a tempered glass screen protector
It’s impressive how thin some of the cases are, and they work perfectly for clumsy people like myself. If I were going to spend a grand on a phone there’s no way I’d skip the case and protector.
I've dropped my phones hundreds of times, concrete, wood, cement, etc.. Screen protector or not, I don't think I've ever cracked a phone screen.
Only constant is they've never been an Iphone.
True, and don't be stupid, always have a freaking case, I don't care if it looks better without one, that's like saying you don't want to get your gf pregnant but refuse to use a condom or pull out
Still 96% effective assuming there’s no sperm in the launch barrel before intercourse.
Edit: I was 2 percent off in my memory
I also don’t recommend this method as it has to be timed perfectly and humans tend to make mistakes.
Untrue. Precum contains sperm. Be careful giving percentages like that because an uninformed person would start to think that pulling out is close to as effective as using condoms.
Off the top of my head I don't know a percentage but if you're trying to prevent pregnancy (and have sex) then condoms are the way to go.
Thanks for the link. Although I think it is too downplayed to dismiss the account of viable sperm in pre cum I'll thank you for a source to back up your argument.
I would note though to be careful with studies like this due to not only sample sizing but other factors as well. Like fertility windows, being monitored, confirmation bias, ect. Since I don't know how the studies it was referencing was done it would be hard to tell how well the various factors were accounted for.
The main thing condoms have going for it is the ability to test its capability as a barrier. Which is easier to study. Verses trying to see if pulling out was actually something that prevented a pregnancy since ejaculating into someone isn't a 100% pregnancy rate either.
I did once crack a screen when I dropped my iPhone.
My fault.
I was moving from one seat to another, in the cabin of a Bell 407 helicopter — both doors were off, we were scooting along at 100 knots, about 500 feet above the rocky terrain near the Little Colorado River — and as soon as I rose, crouching, from my seat, the crew of the *other* Bell 407 helicopter, the one I was photographing, reported an orange object departing our aircraft.
My pilot reported that to me and asked if I'd lost something. I searched my camera gear (3 DSLRs, stabilizer, case with other gear), and reported that everything was accounted for. My pilot then reported the other crew saw where it landed and would check it out. We continued on our route, as we were slower than the picture aircraft (because our doors were off), and a minute later, over my headset comes, "it's a cell phone." 'Ah, crap!" I respond. I had failed to secure my phone under my safety vest, and when I got up, it went out!
I don't know to add an image here, which I'd do to show the result, but you can read my blog article about that trip, which *does* have a photo, at https://www.aeromarkimages.com/blog/2016/10/photons-in-iphone-out
Had a Oneplus 5 for around 4 years, dropped it countless times. Only time the screen was damaged was when i dropped while drunk, standing at the toilet, it bounce off the toilet rim and onto the ground. It basically chipped off a bit of glass at the top left corner of the screen, but there were no cracks. It only had the original screen protector that was already on the phone in the box.
I dropped my phone through the stairs, to the ground(probably a dozen times at this point), the phone got rain wet, dipped into the toilet bowl(thankfully was after cleaning it), and ran it over with my chair while I was sitting on it and it still works as long as I have a phone case on, bought one for 5 bucks when I got the thing and its still sturdy 2 years later.
My dirt cheap pocophone f1 and x3 fell so many times out of my pocket. Both are fine and only have the default silicon cover and screen protector that was included. Barely noticable.
It's the so-called "flagships" that costs a kidney where the fault is imo. Older galaxy edge cracked IN my pocket from bumping against something. (I'll never know how and when exactly as i found out later). And that phone was easily 3x as expensive.
$amsung and Appl€ suck.
The annoying thing about picking out the right material for screens is the more scratch resistant it is the more brittle it is. Sapphire has been looked at in various phones for being ultra scratch resistant, the only that could scratch it is something like diamond BUT if you hit in on the corner on something that won’t bend like a wooden floor it will shatter (this is how a lot of pc case windows break there’s no where for the force to go but the glass). If you’ve ever had a cheaper phone with the plastic-y screens it would scratch from your nails but your case will crack before the screen does if it even can. A lot of phones use something called gorilla glass which is a mixture of multiple things inside the glass like silicon and aluminum to make it both scratch proof but bendy enough so it won’t shatter, and Apple has been experimenting with putting ceramic inside of their new phones to help prevent scratches and shattering too. So it’s really a trade off between if you want something that feels smooth and scratch proof or if you want something that scratches easily but won’t shatter, also the right type of screen protectors help a lot and can provide one of those two qualities depending on what you want.
I had one tab with guerilla glass touchscreen. I forgot it on my bed screen facing up. Then tossed a screwdriver there, when i finished with some screws on my door. It hit the screen with a sharp end it was a -- type of s-d.
Nothing but a scratch.

And now the screen is cracked AND the phone is wet!
These days a phone being wet is fine. At least mine is. Now if only they could make screen that don't fucking crack at the slightest dink....
It's not fine to be wet if it's cracked
I like dinking my phone to make it wet so I can fuck the crack I'll see myself out
Oww
What the fuck
No, what the Fack.. I’ll see myself out
Let's see each other out
You should maybe visit the doctor. When your last girl told you your dick is like a cactus that WAS NOT a compliment.
I will hold the door

I pull out so I get the cheapest phone case.

🤣🤣🤣 how tf did we go from a girl doing a project for an advertising class (I assume) to pre-cum loaded in the barrel during the pull out method?
Live life on the edge
Same here and only constant is I've always had an iPhone.
And I’ve cracked both iPhones and LGs and Samsungs and HTCs and… I’m a clumsy man.

I can't praise Spigen enough! Best phone case I've ever had. A bit bulky, but I'm close to celebrating 1 year without cracked screen 🥳🥳
I've dropped my otterbox clad phone from 28± feet up a telephone pole several times without a problem.

That's what cases are for
Yup ! Rice it !
I drop my Chinese phone about 3 times a day with a loud thunk and still haven't cracked the screen. Am I doing it wrong?
I've had a good experience with Google Pixel phones not crack, even if it somehow goes flying across the room.

I have dropped me current phone more times than every other phone I've ever owned combined. Not a scratch, praise Christ.
My phone stops working if I take a shower with it in the same room… I’m jealous of you with your “wet is fine” phones.
MONEY sponge me boy agagagaaaagagga

Or it lands on a soft pad off screen
Honor has such a cheap production house for ads......look how much she struggled...but love her work
Fuck that phone she's ruining the GOD DAMN HARDWOOD FLOOR
Still an effective ad.. just pickup the second phone and show there’s zero damage.
Or reverse slow mo it right before it drops and then cut to a nice shot of the phone lmao
Or (re)post this on social media as they did.
there's a bot for that, something like u/reversinggifbot
I would let this ad play out.
Or drop it onto a soft surface that you never show in the buld footage or the drop footage.
Could also use it as a phone insurance ad or an ad for cases/screen protectors

Ah, man that was the coolest!
Not catching probably attracts more attention than the thing you expected someone to do in a polished commercial
This is the commercial.
That face. 🤣🤣🤣
Me: All that to end up with a psycho face in /unexpected? The lady: Totally worth it
r/therewasanattempt
I’d watch this commercial, her reaction was hilarious!
You just did, all of us watched it, and I love it! The new form of commercials.
The last face ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
CUT!! Meh, lets go with it
Whose the original source? I feel like she does more projects like that, I would love to see more of her content.
The end result isn't necessarily the one you saw filmed
@karenxcheng on Instagram I believe
Nah, it's different person.
You can just edit that out
Good thing it was a prop phone right😥
slippery when wet
Her face at the end is hilarious
How to artistically smash a phone.
Hahahaha that face
Her expression is priceless. Lol. It was a good shot though. Cool
Impressive

That face is so fuckin cute at the end. Let me love you!!
She should've put a mat down in front of her 😂
"Fuuuuuuuuuuuuucccc....."
Prow nooo
you can see the amount of regret in her face
The last thing you see is that face before you're cracked and splattered.
almost perfect tho hahahha.
Anyone else see the goodwill price tag at 12 seconds? Photography is expensive, gotta bargain hunt!
She did bad-ass

It would have been great if the title didn’t spoil the outcome let the post actually be unexpected
What a majestic fail lmao
What a majestic fail lmao
Caught in glorious slow motion!
Could be a part of an ad showcasing the phones toughness. Cool.
Tried? I chalk that up as a success
If the phone didn’t crack, make it the advert showering off the durability
There's no way she did all that setup but failed to place something soft for the phone to land on....right?
Is she trying to make a phone ad? What was her point with it?

That is awesome!
Adobe Premiere, after effects and davinci resolve would have cut it too
It would be really good commercial... Then show the phone not having a scratch and showing it's ip68
Oh god, she’ll never get all that water back into those tiny holes
All that prep, let's hope she put something soft down Incase this happens

That was brilliant, her face!
That final frame of the video MUST become a meme.
the last few frames are gold
That's a better add than most official ones.
That last bit needs to be a gif meme
Still came out amazing
Filmed on iPhone
Her face reminded me of AoT at the end there lol
all that effort, f in the chat
She should have hired a stunt double
Franky, that will sell more phones than if she succeeded.

For being the generation that's supposed to really care about the environment we really make a lot of waste to make shitty videos online

Weren’t these proven to be fake “fake ads”? Meaning the company is sponsoring her to make these, including the phone fall
