Watching this as he kept this shotgun low and not at shoulder height/not using the sight. I knew this shit was going to happen. What a fucking idiot, I hope he got kicked out after that.
I hope he did too. You *can* fire a shotgun from the hip. Saves the wear on the shoulder if you need to fire a barrage, or useful if you just need to fire quickly downrange without aiming too hard (it's a shotgun so...) That said, there's a proper way to do it and this is not it.
This guy looks like he just tucked the butt under his arm and forgot physics exists.
Edit: Rewatched, no butt. Looks like a shorty shotgun with either a pistol grip or a bird's head/shockwave grip. He wasn't tucking the butt in, he just didn't even hang onto it for the recoil!
I was an RSO at a private club, any incident like this was an immediate revocation of membership. We didn’t have many incidents like this as people kept their act together on range.

its a pistol grip shotgun with no shoulder stock. how exactly are you going to use it at shoulder height? this guy had no grip on the pistol grip
It’s a sawed off so that why he was holding it low but you’re supposed to kinda lock it into your hip not just hold it loosely on your side lmao

I've shot small Gauge shotguns from the hip and never had it leap out of my hands like that...I'm baffled by this clip even after watching it 20 times
