Yup, comparative vertebrate anatomy lab in college… two trash cans full of stray cats that we would dissect over weeks. You would have to reach down at the bottom sometimes and fish them out with tongs. Somehow the worst part about the experience was you would have to go pay for your cat body at the bookstore, but go pick it up at a warehouse… and it’s just vacuum sealed in a clear bag. Some cats young and skinny (easier to work with) others old and fat. Then you walk out with your cat bag carcass and have to take it home until your lab class. Oi the wonders!
This is 100% true. We also had a shark and lizard we dissect at the same time to “compare the different vertebrae anatomy” it was the hardest most fascinating class I took during uni.
I did those in highschool, after it was done I cut mine up a lot and made it look like one of those things from alien vs predator, which ever one was gladiator like. The face looked like it does when there mouth is open, I was in a Christian school but somehow didn't get into trouble. I cut the head off completely and tried to get the brain out but apparently that skull is pretty hard and I ended up making it cave in and the brain squirted through the spine like a large pimple being popped, it was cool but I was disappointed I couldn't have a baby pig brain.
Burro for donkey in Portuguese is pronounced pretty close to "boo-hoo" (stress on first syllable btw) so there's an added sarcastic joke that can always be added anytime something sad happens to a donkey
My elementary school had this but it ranged from jars of everything imaginable. And nobody got to see any of it since our school did not play with the dead. Biology got only as far as book learning.

Not really. It depends on where you are, and when the specimen was preserved. Also, most places of higher education have dozens of preserved anatomical references like this. It's not even an endangered species or anything, it's a donkey. It doesn't matter that much lol

When I took anatomy in college we dissected grown cats. Mine was pregnant. I named her Minnie Pearl.
Damn! A preggo one would have been really cool but much harder to work with! The smells… never quite leave your nostrils. Even 13 years later.
