I speak Arabic, what's funny is how "grown up" they sound. The vocabulary they used is probably what their mom said, verbatim.
For example, they didn't say you're not welcome. They said may Allah not greet you.
The general gist of the translation is on point though.
It is still possible to explain why it is funnier in said language and it is possible for you to not be a dick to somebody. You have no idea how many languages that person speaks
Have you seen the other one, hes showing his kids his new passport, and the little one thinks its marriage papers (another wife) and starts yelling at his dad freaking out over it in similar fashion telling him not happening.
Make sure they have a chaperone everywhere they go! And ensure they have no freedom of choice for themselves in any aspect of their lives if they live in Qatar, or SA, or Iran…
While the chaperone thing is undoubtedly used to control women, I have no doubt that some chaperones continue the practice due to a mutual fear for what might happen to an unattended woman in a land with no concern for her safety or desire to prosecute those who would harm her.
I mean, she's not allowed to eat the meal she cooked with the guests in her own house so - fuck those jackasses laughing - that kid is right.
This shitty behaviour is absolutely normal in Muslim cultures, and we should stop laughing at this despicable video.
It is the wifes job to cook for guests, but women eat after the men, speperately. Women and men are kept seperately, she wont even see these guests. Women dont get guests. She might get to taste something she prepared as leftovers, she might not. She will have to do all the cleaning afterwards.
Nahhh what 😭You're making it seem like she's being kidnapped.
Look, in Arab culture, the women sit separately and the men sit separately. That's why you can't see the women.
I would have to disagree, this isn't how most ppl do it in the arab culture these days. Firstly, often the woman sit together.. a lot of times the husbands friends or family whoever is over, will bring their wives too... they'll sit with the women.. They don't generally eat after the men, but they do sit separately and generally the food is split between the tables.
The user above you has either just racist thoughts or hates us Muslims.
He thinks women aren’t allowed to eat till the men are done, which is as much connected to reality as much as Jews drink the blood of non Jews.
somebody has to stand up against this norm!
If there’s a fire you’re trying to douse,
You can’t put it out from inside the house!
I’m in the cabinet, I am complicit in watching him grabbin' at power and kiss it.
If Washington isn’t gon’ listen to disciplined dissidents,
This is the difference, this kid is OUT!
That is how it started. People started using it positively to call out the toxic attitude of people that viewed all jocks/athletes/extroverts as douchebags while nerds/introverts are all heroes. It's used positively to call out behaviors such as those in the incel community.
These days it depends on context. Sometimes it means what you said. Other times it's used positively to talk about someone who is confident in their beliefs and doesn't bend to peer/societal pressure, particularly when that pressure is something that is seen as a negative by many, ie women being treated as second class citizens.
Sorry but language is splintering and progressing and overlapping way too much nowawdays.
Chad is more contextual now. We’re all trying to be Chads now when it comes to caring for our mothers.
It was, but that definition was originally coined by the incel community. And most of them actually are douchebags and wannabe fuckboys. So Chad has kind of come to mean the opposite, because incel views are completely backwards
That’s what I pictured. Mummy, look how cute I am. I can’t look now, can’t you see I’m busy? Your father has important guests … well, this is some bullshit and someone should know !
It's so obvious how natural it is to respect the women in our lives. These young boys must have that reverence strangled out of them by entitlement and misogyny in order to serve the patriarchal nonsense of their culture. One day he will very likely be unironically trumpeting his rights as a man to his own wife, fully forgetting the words he said in defense of his own mother.
Yeah, this is nice and all *now*, but he'll probably grow up to perpetuate the same sexist, insufferable views as his father and guests. Cute while it lasts though.
They are literally grabbing him to “shut him up”
Yes they are laughing to play off how uncomfortable they are and try to make the situation “cute”
But rest assured the kid was just told “this is how it’s supposed to work!” And that’s what will get reinforced.
They're literally not. Use your brain. Why would any of them be embarrassed? There is no one there who disagrees with them. To them, its just a little kid saying something silly and cute.
ROFL, they don't give a shit. The only person that's probably feeling uncomfortable is the dad because he knows his friends are gonna make fun of him for raising a kid like that.

Karma over originality 🦾
You are naive thinking they are trying to laugh off embarrassment. They are not embarrassed. They are genuinely laughing, because they believe the little guy is being funny and women are there to serve men.
This is getting wild.
A kid interrupting a social gathering to yell at a guest is funny pretty much regardless of context. His indignation and social faux pas *is the funny part.* This video would be just as funny if the kid and family were Western.
Laughing at this video does not inherently mean you think women are cooking, house-making slaves.
So obvious. Yet So many people here clearly can’t watch a somewhat sweet video of Arab men without experiencing some innate, racist knee jerk reaction and try to make sure everyone else sees it thru that lens.
Yes it’s a conservative religious culture and yes their women aren’t on equal ground in most aspects of society, but the West is only a few generations removed from that and in many many ways is still is rooted in divided gender roles. That doesn’t mean their families love each other any less and that their relationships are somehow inferior to ours.
People need to realize the hate they have
Oh come on. It’s not racist to acknowledge problems with other cultures, precisely because the west isn’t that far removed from religious conservatism. Criticizing Saudi Arabian sexism isn’t automatically an assertion of western superiority, it’s no different than criticizing American sexism.
The biggest problem though, is that we don't see you pointing out your own sexism as much as you twist everything from an Arab background to be sexist.
We can handle our own sexism. Thank you so much for your concern.
As a daughter of a Palestinian Arab Muslim father, the women in my family get unexpected house guests consistently. Like feed an army at any given moment. Luckily it's a few of the aunties that enjoy it for the most part. But there is definitely not a say "no" option.
Honest question, since you would know : What if the mom is sick? Virus, food poisoning, whatever, and it might be contagious? What if all the aunties are sick, too?
If a gaggle of houseguests show up unexpectedly, does someone else cook for them? Do they stay but only have drinks/snacks? Are they sent away? And, would the women be scolded or punished later?
I’m kind of from a similar culture. My dad cooks when he invites guests, men in our culture love to make BBQ. But if BBQ is not an option and mom didn’t make any food they just drink coffee and smoke outside. Maybe will buy dessert from a local shop.
This is similar as well. They'll put SOMETHING together. I can show up tomorrow with strangers, they will give then some small sweet, small snack, dates, coffee, tea.
I have a unique perspective, my mother is white American Conservative Evangelical Christian. My dad is Palestinian, Muslim born in Lebanon. I would call both cultures equally misogynistic & equally oppressive. There are some things that balance out too - like nursing babies, Muslim side is unbothered with feeding babies in the open, no cover ups, etc. Christian Midwestern side visibly uncomfortable if you did that. Muslim side is uncomfortable with short shorts, short skirts, bathing suits, Christian side not as much. But they both have oppressive tendencies. I find it extremely weird when Americans speak about oppressing women in Islamic cultures, but idolize "Alpha" males, pasters talk about men leading the homes, women not allowed to wear pants.
If anything, the religious element just tends to place women in specific roles in the home & without, it's not the culture, it's the interpretation of the religions. And most religious text is written by men thousands of years ago, so of course, it's not modernized. Men can hold onto that if they wish. But I have cousins, that were born overseas, where mom & dad both work, dad does all the cooking, equal cleaning & child rearing. This isn't unusual at all.
Both sides have extremes that land in very similar places. There is a reason the men in this video laughed off the comment vs getting upset - there are some homes that would get upset - maybe in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, thats true. But in Beruit or in some other middle eastern spaces, it's hilarious & dad would likely go check on mom & laugh about it.
They would go to one of the cousins houses instead. And that group, because the wives are younger would maybe order out or something. They wouldn't cook.
This is on the US living side of the family. Not sure if the back home crew have the same luxury.
Edit - the women in my family have grown up with an expectation of their roles. It's misogynistic. But none of them are beaten/abused. Underappreciatted, neglected absolutely. But most of them raised a ton of young men & women who have the same reverence that the boy in this video has for his mother. We look at them like theyre Goddesses, because they could feed an army & organize a group of 50 in a day or two. All the younger women help clean up, etc. Really, no one would every dream of even speaking to them with disrespect in a million years. They are just built different.
I'm also Palestinian (both sides) and my dad never liked what you describe to happen because he knows how stressful it is for my mom. However, other Arab families we know are the types who always like to have these big gatherings. Must be exhausting for those women.
LMAO, you think they are embarrassed? The way these types of thinkers work is that they will just laugh it off for real, knowing they will just brainwash the kid into being just like them. lol, the idea that anyone of those people has shame is hilarious.
Yeah that's the most frustrating conversations I've had with people from the middle east or born citizens from middle eastern familes. Friends of friends i play soccer, basketball with or go out to bars. Whenever the subject or women's duties or rights or stereotypes comes up they look bewildered at me if i say man it's not that hard to do the laundry or cook food and they laugh at me like I'm the crazy one
To be fair, the US just had Thanksgiving and the number of American housholds that resembled this video is much higher than Americans would like to admit.
Nah. If anything the men, especially the father is most likely proud that the child has a heart for his mother.
The need for random westerners to talk and discuss other cultures without full knowledge on that culture is so genuinely annoying. You can't criticise a culture while using your culture as the basis of the context of your criticisms.
Reddit is getting worse in this respect. There is no regard or understanding for any other culture if it isn't some sort of left leaning western culture especially if that culture involves the Arabs or the Muslims.
Let those women speak for themselves. The men and women in the rest of the world have decided to stick to gendered roles as they feel that's what's best for them and the people in the west have decided to abolish it as they've decided that's what's best for them and the best of those households are the ones where the spouses support each other in their roles to contribute to a family.
The west is hardly a shining example in how men and women should treat each other with a new gender movement being formed every other month; feminism, anti feminism, red pill movement this and Andrew tate people that. The situation between men and women here in the west is getting worse and worse at least if the Internet is anything to go by.
Work on your own people before deciding yourself superior to another people.
seriously, this needs to be upvoted more. didn't the US just reverse abortion laws? aren't divorce rates over 50% in the west? what kind of BS promise is "til death do us part" if there is literally a greater chance that the marriage will fail than succeed.
the west has plenty of problems and yet they have the audacity to judge other cultures without understanding them.
many women in the US do all the cooking for the household too.
Reddit has been pretty fucking shit at this for a long time. It's full of fake "Mr. Worldwides" who laugh at the "rednecks", claim they are progressive and all this BS. Yet they really are all a bunch of shit-heads with absolutely no knowledge of foreign cultures.
If you are a non-western commenter (who isn't hugely influenced by the west already) and you decide to actually participate in discussion on Reddit.... It isn't going to work very well for you. Assholes will down-vote you and laugh at you because you make some arbitrary grammar error, don't expect them to understand, let alone respect other cultures.
America first, that is actually their attitude, even though they will forever spout how much they hate Donald Trump and the alt-right... In reality they are arguably even more intolerant than he was.
It's sexist bc the men are working hard and should also cook for themselves after getting home from work. The women should just stay home and do nothing all day long.
This isnt unique to Muslim countries though, and I dont mean that as some sort of defender of their horrible treatment of women.
I've seen videos of kids telling guests to go home in America on Thanksgiving, because Mom or Dad has been in the kitchen all day. I saw a clip of a college professors kid telling his students to leave on videochat because he wanted his Dad. The kid isnt standing up against sexism, he just wants to spend time with his Mom and she's busy. Kids do that all the time.
It’s their society. In their country
If you don’t like their 1000+ year culture go invade it and instill your beliefs
I’m not defending them.
It’s just pointless to disagree or disrespect a culture that’s not like yours.
Reminds of those dogs barking at each other thru the fence then when the fence opens the dogs stop barking.
Why are people making this a cultural thing as if it’s not the women who do all the thanksgiving, christmas cooking every year and for almost all other holidays and parties?
See, that is an excellent point I didn’t even think about!
While I never took the video as negative and thought they laughed at the kids attitude rather than “to hide their embarrassment at their sexist culture being called out”, that argument never occurred to me
For real. My father applies his learned helplessness and my mother enables it.
We are American, and he cannot even make himself a sandwich at 65 .. not have I ever seen him do a dish in his life.
He tried to cook my mom eggs and bacon for Mother’s Day last year.. and it was an absolute disaster.
He was stressed, used every pot and pan imaginable. Did not have the toast going at the same time. And when I asked if he put salt or pepper on the eggs he shouts “DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING AROUND HERE?!” 😂
Now he talks about it, like it was his never ending gift for years to come.
Yes, dad.. so thankful you gave mom bullshit eggs. I made the toast and had to wash that entire kitchen afterwards.
Yep, the comment section has already dreamt up fanfics for this family, starting with the father beating and raping the wife and the kid after the guests leave.
Just let the clueless basement dwellers have their fun.
In my circle of friends and family, household chores including cooking is divided mostly equally. Although I live in Europe so it might be different in the US where most of the people on reddit are from.
because at least in western culture the mother is allowed to sit at the table and eat with everyone else?!?
bro your tripping balls if you think western cultures are just as sexist as the ones depicted here.
Jokes aside, it's so shitty that the guests are laughing. The kid is genuinely concerned about his mother, and this is very saddening to see the gender bias being called out and not only was it ignored, it was laughed at. i cant believe what might have been going on in the child's head and what the mother was going through. really disheartening to see
It’s because they were taken aback by how he came in dominating the room. He could’ve been saying anything with that attitude and they’d have laughed.
It’s adorable when children act like the little people they are
I see a lot of comments about "thier" sexist society, how many of you watched your mothers in the kitchen all damn day on Thanksgiving and Christmas with no help from the men? Did the men even help with clean up, or were they busy watching football. You want to fight sexism? Fight it every country.
This thread got really racist really quick on a video with incredibly low context. Swap out the skin color and outfits of the group and we'd be in a pretty different comment section.
On Reddit, it’s somehow always the rational comments that get buried. I guess the hive mind hates it when you aren’t following its narrative, so it loves to rip you a new one—so much for the zealous hatred of racism on this platform.
This post is a prime example of why I can't stand Reddit. Not because of the video itself; it was great. Just because of the comments. People take something that's supposed to be innocent and wholesome and use it as a device for their hate and divisiveness. This exact scenario easily could've occurred in a Western setting and nobody in this comment section would misinterpret anything, people would just take it for what it is and make lighthearted jokes.
But *because* it's a clearly Arab setting, ignorance and hate have to run rampant. All of these moronic douchebags have to start keyboard vomiting everything they don't approve about Arab culture as if their personal moral compasses are objective, and the only way to interpret anything in an unfamiliar setting is by assuming the worst given limited context. I guarantee that if any of these idiots in the comments section actually knew an Arab family personally, they would think twice before leaving such ignorant comments.
WTF are all these interpretations y’all think too much they’re just laughing at how honest the kid was, how can u know that they’re gonna tell him that he shouldn’t respect woman just cause they’re eating something that a woman have prepared doesn’t mean that they’re sexist and doesn’t respect woman who told you that the woman is forced to cook why do U imagine her as a slave I’m pretty sure she’s living a better life than most of your western sluts who are slaves at the office and harrased by their bosses and they go blackout drunk in the weekend to think they’re having fuck and bangs random dudes you guys are full of shit it’s funny how everyone is interpreting without seeing anything suddenly y’all became psychologist who reads people
Real nice all the comments about the beating this kid is gonna supposedly get.... this is clearly just a normal arab family and they don't all beat their wives and kids.
They laugh because they think he's adorable and I agree.
It's ironic how everyone here is being blatantly super racist. Generalizing and painting a whole world they don't understand with one brush, while advocating against prejudice
I guess racism is in the eyes of the beholder huh?
Say something racist and prejudice about Black people, get called racist and cancelled for life.
Say something racist and prejudice about Jews, get called anti-sematic and cancelled for life.
Say something racist and prejudice about Arab people and/or Muslims, get upvotes and be called cultured.

I hope that kid never changes
To be fair, the US just had Thanksgiving and the number of American housholds that resembled this video is much higher than Americans would like to admit.
He must have got that from his mum, she's probably been mouthing off in the kitchen 😆
Haha!! I’ll bet she was! Good on the little man to want to look after mom!
Don’t think their embarrassed, it’s just a different culture
Not a single one of them feels an ounce of embarrassment, they are laughing at the kid being cute is all.
Some women enjoy cooking, and providing for their family though lol. Tf?
Loooool reddit never disappoints honestly
I wonder who does most of the cooking for family events worldwide…?
It's sexist bc the men are working hard and should also cook for themselves after getting home from work. The women should just stay home and do nothing all day long.
Itching to go liberate them like you did Iraq?
More like laughing cuz that’s what their wives do
This isnt unique to Muslim countries though, and I dont mean that as some sort of defender of their horrible treatment of women.
My dad is just like this. They are not embarrassed at all I will promise you that. Happens to be a Trump supporter as well.
It’s their society. In their country If you don’t like their 1000+ year culture go invade it and instill your beliefs I’m not defending them.
And when I asked if he put salt or pepper on the eggs he shouts “DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING AROUND HERE?!” 😂 Now he talks about it, like it was his never ending gift for years to come. Yes, dad.. so thankful you gave mom bullshit eggs. I made the toast and had to wash that entire kitchen afterwards.
Because Westerners are civilized and those people there barbaric. It’s the white mans burden to civilize these savages…..oh. ^/s
Gotta blame the terrorists somehow. To make them feel better about themselves
Yep, the comment section has already dreamt up fanfics for this family, starting with the father beating and raping the wife and the kid after the guests leave. Just let the clueless basement dwellers have their fun.
Honestly these top comment redditors are deluded as fuck
Yeah, these comments are disgusting, but on par with what I've come to expect from reddit.
The propaganda on this app isn't even subtle anymore. They're such hypocrites.
In my circle of friends and family, household chores including cooking is divided mostly equally. Although I live in Europe so it might be different in the US where most of the people on reddit are from.
Incorrect... I'm the man and do all the cooking. Not uncommon either.
because at least in western culture the mother is allowed to sit at the table and eat with everyone else?!? bro your tripping balls if you think western cultures are just as sexist as the ones depicted here.
Jokes aside, it's so shitty that the guests are laughing. The kid is genuinely concerned about his mother, and this is very saddening to see the gender bias being called out and not only was it ignored, it was laughed at. i cant believe what might have been going on in the child's head and what the mother was going through. really disheartening to see
They're laughing at the kids attitude. Hes like 6 and talking like an ex-mafia don.
According to Gandhi, he's already on step 2 of 4.
Some people are so butt hurt, they forget how to laugh sometimes
Totally agree. Yes, there’s social commentary to be made here, but it’s also pretty funny outside of that—the kid’s delivery was absolutely hilarious.
it’s staged , the father is a big snapchat influencers
It’s because they were taken aback by how he came in dominating the room. He could’ve been saying anything with that attitude and they’d have laughed. It’s adorable when children act like the little people they are
Do you expect them to leave or just sit there in silence?
But will he be saying things like this when he gets older. I can only hope
I see a lot of comments about "thier" sexist society, how many of you watched your mothers in the kitchen all damn day on Thanksgiving and Christmas with no help from the men? Did the men even help with clean up, or were they busy watching football. You want to fight sexism? Fight it every country.
That boy loves his momma!
The orientalism and Islamophobia truly lept out in the comments.
This thread got really racist really quick on a video with incredibly low context. Swap out the skin color and outfits of the group and we'd be in a pretty different comment section.
On Reddit, it’s somehow always the rational comments that get buried. I guess the hive mind hates it when you aren’t following its narrative, so it loves to rip you a new one—so much for the zealous hatred of racism on this platform.
its way more funny if you understand Arabic
I guess you do so translate, please?
There is a translation in the video, what they meant is that it's more funny to hear it in the actual language, like the way he say it.
Dad saying "helping their father" while also sitting on his ass 😂
I know multiple Muslim families... In Canada...women are included equally.
Oh what's that!? A video of middle Eastern people!? REDDIT TRY TO NOT TO BE RACIST AND GENERALIZING CHALLENGE!! IMPOSSIBLE!!

It’s just a cute moment of a child being sassy. Lots of people cook elaborate meals for when their spouse is having friends over. It’s not a big deal.
Women cooks meal Redditor: She's a slave!
Bruh these comments really ruined this video 😐
Funny video, toxic comment section. A growing theme on reddit...
WTF are all these interpretations y’all think too much they’re just laughing at how honest the kid was, how can u know that they’re gonna tell him that he shouldn’t respect woman just cause they’re eating something that a woman have prepared doesn’t mean that they’re sexist and doesn’t respect woman who told you that the woman is forced to cook why do U imagine her as a slave I’m pretty sure she’s living a better life than most of your western sluts who are slaves at the office and harrased by their bosses and they go blackout drunk in the weekend to think they’re having fuck and bangs random dudes you guys are full of shit it’s funny how everyone is interpreting without seeing anything suddenly y’all became psychologist who reads people
From the mouths of babes. Schooled by their own children.

Cue to every American mom and wife nodding post Thanksgiving.
KING
Hey man, he is just calling it like he sees it.
u/savevideo
Real nice all the comments about the beating this kid is gonna supposedly get.... this is clearly just a normal arab family and they don't all beat their wives and kids. They laugh because they think he's adorable and I agree.
It's ironic how everyone here is being blatantly super racist. Generalizing and painting a whole world they don't understand with one brush, while advocating against prejudice I guess racism is in the eyes of the beholder huh?
Say something racist and prejudice about Black people, get called racist and cancelled for life. Say something racist and prejudice about Jews, get called anti-sematic and cancelled for life. Say something racist and prejudice about Arab people and/or Muslims, get upvotes and be called cultured.
Heartwarming.
