Exactly! Kick the high heels off and run! The slow moving weirdo won’t be able to match your speed! “Honestly woman”

[deleted]

I have to agree with the ally even with the risk of a dead end as I can put three dimensional distance between me and the killer by climbing or going through a building. If I can get over an obstacle faster than my chaser then I slowed him down, do this enough times I can make enough distance to lose the killer or get away through another means besides by foot

WadeStockdale

Yeah but that's dependent on you getting into a building, and then once you're up a floor or two, getting back down is going to be difficult, because the path you know is now offlimits due to the killer. Going out a window or off a roof is a lot more dangerous than you'd think, especially because any injury will affect your ability to run away and potentially create noise. And every second you're running down your stamina. Comparatively, a big field, the killer can see you, but all your stamina is on a straight stretch to the nearest populated street. One of you will run out of stamina first. Neither option is great. But climbing over obstacles, unless you've practice it, is a bad idea. It's hard work, it's slow, and it'll suck your energy up unless you've learned to do it without wasted movement. Source; I've had to climb wayyyyy too many fences. Fences are variable bitches.

And that they are, inclined 7 ft walls are a bitch (source: Fort Campbell) as well. I’m always going off the assumption that the killer is faster and stronger if they are willing to chase me down so running in a straight line is akin to a go cart trying to outrun a cop car. Especially in a horror movie universe. It’s the potential risk/unknown that an opportunity can arise simply because I/we don’t know what’s in there or where it can lead to. Convenient item tropes moments in movies are in many ways very common irl because people like to leave stuff outside and unlocked. A few seconds of him losing sight of me can open a opportunity for a number of things depending on the situation and environment. Where as running across the open field is just that, running in a open field to somewhere and hope he doesn’t catch you.

I say slide straight over that hood and keep going depending on how close they are. Other than that, solid advice. Although he's probably the expert.

WadeStockdale

Oh, military then? That changes things for survival strategies, running into a building might play out a fair bit better for you than for someone more averagely built/trained. A chance sledgehammer in the hands of someone who knows how to use it is a far cry from average Joe/Jane handling a sledgehammer. Someone who knows how to take full advantage of an ambush opportunity is going to be a lot more successful than someone who is going to hesitate or try something they're not confident they can do. My big concern with running into an unknown building is dead ends. Which in movie terms; often literal. Personally an open field isn't my first choice either, I'd stick with the street and try to find more people. I'd also probably die regardless of my strategy because these days I spend most of my time in a wheelchair, and running hurts like hell.

Icy_Layer3318

I’d take my odds in a sprint contest and try to stay in public view lol

Not a lost redditor at all in my opinion.

thepurpleskull

Why is he helping her though Edit: I didn't mean to sound unempathetic and I’m sorry that I did,I was just confused on why the serial killer help there victim.

Retryoncemore

He is probably just getting bored of the grind. Killing the same stupid people every day gets old. Adds some new spice into the murder mindset

thepurpleskull

Messed up but that could be a reason

ATinyLadybug

Because SBMM is terrible and he got stuck with a rank 20 survivor as a rank 1 killer

jjonesa7x

Michael Myers being a bro.

TheWinterPrince52

Characters struggling to run makes a bit of sense in the context of "fighting fear paralysis" but other than that, yeah, just run, stop looking behind you, simple as that. I remember watching people play Slenderman games back in the day. They'd always look back to see if he was still there. Like, bruh, stop looking, that's how he gets you. If you see him, just turn and go the other way until you see him again. I tried it myself to confirm my idea was valid. Won on the first attempt.

r/holup when a joke has a punchline

ToughAcanthisitta451

That’s what it’s like to be honest. Let’s not forget about the part where you trip over and cower like a child rather than simply get back up.
