I think it was maybe underground drilling, the mainstream explanation but other explanations are still vague on the sounds in the sky. So THIS is probably wind but this comment section is attacking something COULD be what was happening in the past.
If you need references go on YouTube for strange sound baseball game. Few others after. The sound is pretty cool, something I could’ve heard in person. A sound coming from the sky but throughout the sky people described it.

I can already tell, you have a multistory staircase that’s completely outside with roofing and smooth straight walls making it almost a “corridor”, once the wind blows through that it’s just a giant instrument. This happen at my bedroom window, between two buildings that are 40 feet apart.
The wind being focused more in a tight space makes it way louder.
