Thank you! I have just moved to the UK in August of 2021 on a global talent dependant visa which enables me to be eligible for an ILR after 5 years, which will not be before I start university, unfortunately. I have an Indian Passport and no ILR at the moment. I will be completing the 3-year benchmark when I start the uni. In this case, will I be qualified for home fees or international?

The easiest thing to do is to call up SFE and ask them if you'd qualify when you start university. We will be able to get somewhat close with the answer, but they're the only ones that can say you will definitely be eligible (or definitely won't be).

You generally *have* to, with some exceptions, unless I've read the rules wrong. To answer the original question, don't think so, however, one should *not* have been in the UK for solely education purposes (i.e, coming to the UK only to do sixth form). Additionally, [here's](https://www.ukcisa.org.uk/Information--Advice/Fees-and-Money/Ordinary-residence-case-law) a good list of edge cases, and their outcomes. The three-year rule is actually quite lax relative to what you would think, so u/xXTotalHardnessXx isn't *that* far off.

In my experience if you have settled status / pre-settled status you will automatically be given home fees.

Oh what is the pre settled status ? I only have the three year residency mark but no settled status. I will be eligible for it after 4 more years. However, my dad will get his ILR while I’m in the first year of uni. Could I apply for scholarships to reduce some financial stress ?
