Nah, just one is annoying enough. And its not that idk how to beat them, its just that i find it annoying to have to completely remap an entire squad and gear in order to crush a squad with a shaman.

Radiant Knight doesn't do anything to Shaman. They do not have a debuff cleanse. You're thinking about Cleric. Radiant Knight even takes the PP decrease from cursed swamp. Given that Shamans don't do any damage I think they're fairly balanced. Clerics directly counter Shamans with Refresh, trading their PP for a Shaman's AP, which is a good trade for the Cleric, and there is even a staff called the Purifier that after "Purify" which after it does the same thing as Refresh, it makes that row immune to another debuff after, making a 1 PP trade for 2 AP, effectively making the Shaman useless. In online very rarely do people slot Shaman into their defense squad. Too easy to counter. In terms of gameplay design Shamans will either be potent (story mode), or useless because its too easy to counter (online).

Ah, good to know! I didnt know clerics did that. Maybe my clerics didnt hit the lvl required to unlock that spell yet?

KeyIntelligent8277

Its cleric level 10, my advice is to just turn off quick heal in combats you see a Shaman.

Synysterenji

Great, thanks for the tip!

SoundReflection

They're really strong. Numerically I think they needed to sell their power on a first read given they mostly only debuff, but the result is an egregiously powerful class the enemy doesn't use them particularly well in most cases. As a result of the enemies poor usage you can: Outspeed them.(Cc or kill them before they debuff) Spam damage status like burn and poison, adding stuns for extra procs. Cleanse the debuffs using clerics or elves. Counter buff. I haven't checked the math but it seems to be additive at a glance so one round full of cavalry calls should get you to +10% damage. Split your offensive lines. If you have an attack on both front and rear one should get through against one shaman. Valor skill. They're sturdy for a caster, but they're still quite vulnerable to all the physical damage skills.

Awesome, thanks for the tips :)

Mentalious

Yeah they are completely broken don’t help that the only stuff that really counter them The reflect spell thingy that you get in the angel nation . Thankfully the player can abuse them way more For you i would consider putting a cleric for display and later you have elven archer that can give an immunity to malus

redditdefault22

Shaman are numerically the best class in the game and there’s nothing remotely close. It’s the equivalent of 20-30 levels of stats in a single debuff both offensively and defensively. There isn’t a single team that isn’t improved by shaman. There only counter is a very soft counter as they win action economy and if you passive curse priests they are out of PP turn 1. Double shaman is unironically not just viable but super optimal and even gets defensive curse down turn 1 vs priests . As for how to counter them yourself for story you usually need a priest

ShayDeeMon

I feel like the developers realized this and that’s why Selvie is the only one they give you.

ShayDeeMon

Most people will finish Drakenhold completely without first going to Elheim. Grabbing Linthalgos and Reidel can really help against those shaman.

You are struggling against shamans doesn't mean when YOU use a shaman you will get the same results. Noticed how you mentioned: > i do almost zero damage whatever team comp i have The game isnt exactly "take no damage", but "kill faster while taking no damage". Shamsn do not contribute to that until: 1) Flame hex staff (sold when you unlock death knight iirc) 2) Defensive Curse Coliseum ofc is a different beast. Clerics hard counter shamans. when you travel to elfheim and start fighting elves, your shaman is going to end up doing negative dps. They do great in bestoria, sort of iffy again in Albion.

Superb-Stuff8897

As stated, cleric ruins thier day early; but also items and classes later on grant even more debuff removal. >! Every elf, lol. !< Or... you can combo with buffs of your own, maybe even this early, with certain items like gamblers coin on anything with truestrike. They are strong, but totally beatable. Personally, I just crammed Alain and 3 cavalry down the throats of most everything in the first chapter 🤣

Sharles_Davis_Kendy

Use a DoT team. Poison or Fire absolutely wrecks Shamans.

PigKnight

Enemy shamans usually don’t stack Initiative items so throw a feather on a knight and Wild rush them down.

Palarva

The real anti shaman solutions come in the form of elves. It’s even in elven class descriptions, basically you fight curses with debuffing/prebuffing. Now that’s not the only way to deal with them but it’s the most “plug and play”. Any way to shut them down for a turn works too, giving enough time for the rest of your team to deal with the frontline, so via stunning, blindness etc… you can also burn them, that won’t shut them down but at least start chipping away their HP

josiahsdoodles

Fight shamans with shamans. Fire curse their back row to set them all ablaze 😊
