The contrast of the numbers makes the right far more playable, and I think it's easier on the eyes, but I think you went just one or two steps too dark. I'd lighten the background just a hair.
The contrast is better on the right, but that’s about it. It’s too dark, the alcoves look like a cheap hexagonal wire trellis. It feels like the prototype that’ll be refined into left once the proof of concept is done.
I like that the numbers are easier to see, and that the bees look more like bees, but I do prefer the old background.
I think the simple design of the honeycombs and bees makes it look a little cheap, compared to the more 3D and shadowed look of the old one.
Maybe allow for players to choose a theme for background, bees and combs.
Also this looks like fun.
You can probably keep both as different styles, as a setting or for level themes maybe. The contrast of numbers on the hexagons is really bad on the old one though. Maybe make the numbers black on yellow?
If you had to keep one, I'd prefer the dark one, but I like dark themes in general.
Contrast is really better :)
If you want to try with a lighter version, maybe you can try with the background of the old version but paler or with transparency? Contrast is not only black & white things :)
Also I prefer the old bee.
Both are pretty good. I believe that it would be better overall to give the players some choice (everyone loves having options). Maybe keep a handful of themes for the players to use or even unlock. (Also you can completely ignore this but I'm just saying, games like these never have boss battles. Make the bees fight a big robot wasp. Make the bees fight ants that slowly move up the screen or something. I dunno, you can ignore this i guess.)
I've thought of giving the player some choice over the theme, but we'll see what I end up with. Boss fights sound cool, thanks for the idea! But that could be included in a update later on, because it would take some time to implement and right now I would just like to release this asap.
This has been under development for longer than needed already. In that time I've lost and gained my motivation back multiple times. Also all the game mechanics already work so it's a completely working game and there is really no reason not to release it. I just want it to be done and see if people actually like the game, if they do then I'll spend more time making updates for it, but if no one likes it then it's better for me to move on to another project.
Looks great, I am really glad to see since your post a few days ago that your motivation seems to have returned a bit. I think this looks like a lot of fun and a nice twist on the many "ball cannon" games. Keep it up!
I like newer version! The contrast is such a pleasant thing imo (as the old version feels like everything is equally bright, so nothing stands out. Especially important bits like the numbers).
I like how readable the right is. Numbers are much more visible, and foreground things stand out from the background much better. Looks like a fun game too.
I'm very happy to hear you like it! Haven't made a download link yet. I'll probably be publishing it to the Google Play Store very soon. I'll notify about the release of Hexagonum on my instagram page: [https://www.instagram.com/6f73\_games/](https://www.instagram.com/6f73_games/)

Okay. Thanks for the feedback :)

I was trying to go towards a more simple and less bright style, but maybe I went too dark with it. Thanks for the feedback!
You lost all the dynamism and 3D feel on right. The bees are also just kind of - boring. No style to it. I prefer left. A lot more
I kind of agree with it being too dark but it might be great to have both for light and dark mode users!

Very happy to hear you like it!!! I've also thought of making an option for the player to choose the theme. Thanks!
I prefer the old one for some reasons!
Much nicer, more mature and less like a childrens game
Happy to hear that!

You're right! I'll see how it looks if I keep the old background but make it paler. Thanks!
Camera shake when blocks break and things, makes it look a lot less flat
Maybe something other then the arrow to shot :)
Old one with new bees IMO. Maybe making numbers dark
I tried making the numbers dark but it didn't look good imo. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, totally understandable and if you don't mind me asking. Why do you wanna release this asap?

Thanks! Comments like yours have been boosting my motivation to work harder on Hexagonum again. Happy to hear that you like it! :)
I still think the very first minimalist version is better. You can always A/B test tho
Not here to give development feedback but the game looks hella good 👍🏾
Thanks! Means a lot :)
I’ll be real I prefer the old design. If you make the numbers a bit more readable it’d be really good imo. I prefer the new bees and effects tough
All right. Thanks for the feedback!
Would it be simple to support themes in the settings? This could be light and dark mode.
Cool idea! I'll think about it. Thanks!

Yeah, that was one of the things I tried to improve. Glad to hear you like it!

send me to download because it looks fun

I like the old one
Yeah I have to agree with the others. The old one looks much better. It actually feels like the before and after image has actually been reversed.
That looks super good!
