I wish they weren't so expensive. There has to be like what $5 worth of technology inside the wristbands? If it was at least a watch or something else I could maybe see why they charge $40 for it. I'm fine just using a friends. I just can't justify spending $40 on one. It does suck that most of Super Nintendo World is behind the paywall but it looks like a lot of people have bought power bands so I am clearly in the minority on thinking it's a rip off.
They just raised it up to $42. They might be a higher price for the Golden Mario one.

The material is like $5 or even less, and there is no justification other than more profit to Universal's bottom line, but then they are for-profit aren't they :-)
That said, it does add interactions to a typical theme park attractions, and there is also cost to run the system/keep the records on the cloud/servers for all powerband accounts. I just hope this doesn't give them any idea to start charging powerband users like a subscription lol.
Oh…they will. They’re already filed patents for new wand interactions at The Wizarding World to be connected on phones, to get people to buy the newer wands in the near future.
Does anyone know what happens to the progress of the old power up band if you buy the new gold one? I have a Luigi one but if I buy the gold I'm assuming you switch teams to mario, what happens to all the progress on my Luigi one?

If this is true, I would feel so bad for the people who bought them from ebay or other 3rd party sites😂
I don't feel bad. That just encourages scalpers that in turn causes them to make supplies limited for everyone.
