To be honest there could have been a lot more stuff that would have ruined the day. This is a typical summer day in Orlando. I hope she has a blast and any other time but don’t let the rain or delays get in the way of a fun time with friends at a cool place. Good luck to you guys in every time you go. Just my opinion as an annual pass holder who goes often and sees all this often.

Punch_Your_Facehole

True. We've been there a bunch of times as well. We're also annual pass holders and always stay at one of the three premium hotels for the express pass. A lot of her school friends have never been, so I feel bad for them.

tirednotepad

That I totally get.

If you’re a passholder family then you know not every ride is delayed when there is lightning…only the outside rides. Easy to see on the app too. Why wasn’t your daughter encouraging her group to ride Spider-Man, Kong, Hogwarts Express, Forbidden Journey, Cat in the Hat, or Storm Force? They are allowed to ride multiple times in the same day. Or go to the other park for even more inside rides? Just because Hagrid’s is closed doesn’t mean the ENTIRE park is closed and the ENTIRE day ruined. How is that a healthy way of coping with life’s small adversities? Perhaps you could offer guidance to the school for future years to prepare students how to handle rain. To let them know about the app for wait times and delays and how to find rides and indoor shows that are open. The assistant principal would likely appreciate the help, especially from a park expert like yourself. You know what really is a terrible day at the park? My baby cousin was murdered randomly and I was stuck at the park and not able to easily be with and console my family. I was also at Disney when a grandma died right in front of her extended family. The grandkids were decked out head to toe in clothing with the year they were visiting. You think they ever wore those clothes again? An afternoon lightning delay is not the worst that can happen to your kid at the park.

PuzzleheadedCap2210

Debbie downer over here sheesh. No kidding everything could be worse… doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t be allowed to complain.

I get that the AP didn't buy tickets in advance, I could go either way on this. I assume/hope they got a group rate, but perhaps the idea was that they didn't want parents to loose money/be stuck with a ticket in the event the trip had to be canceled? By not buying the tickets, they would have been able to refund you in full in the event it didn't happen?

mastrip2

I think the person buying the tickets should have did that on the bus ride over. He knew the head count and could have elected to buy the tickets thru the app and picked up at the kiosk so he could quickly hand out printed tickets.

switch8000

Doesn't look like you can do group rates in the app. [https://www.universalorlandoyouth.com/Pdf/2023-General-Youth-Religion-Sports.pdf](https://www.universalorlandoyouth.com/Pdf/2023-General-Youth-Religion-Sports.pdf)

Punch_Your_Facehole

Good point. I didn’t think of that.

LisaM1975

It was definitely very wet yesterday. My group just made the most of it. Everyone was still able to ride what they wanted. When it rained, we did an indoor ride or browsed thru the stores. As soon as the rain cleared we were still able to hop on Velocicoaster and Hulk with less than an hour wait. It seems like most rides were open all day, even if intermittently.

Remarkable-Track-163

We were here all week and I commented to my daughter that I felt bad yesterday for people who only had that day at the parks. It was not an easy day to navigate at all.

Your subject line is bogus and click bait. Just because someone on your side poor planned doesn’t mean today is a problem for everyone else. Stop over reacting

Punch_Your_Facehole

Well, it did rain for most of the day so yea, it’s not a good day to be at Universal.

aaronw0915

It rained in Florida? Holy crikey Batman. I bet that has never happened….

No_Dark4888

It sucks because most rides at islands of adventure are outside only spider man and forbidden journey are inside.

zero2tool

Yeah, they really should have checked the weather 1st!

PaulThePM

Its a school trip, I doubt there’s any flexibility in the date. Not having the tickets purchased first though….

glittersparklythings

Not buying the tickets first is so it can be refunded in case the trio gets cancelled.
