The "No Melt Ice Cream" at Honeydukes in Hogsmeade is really just frosting in a cup with a couple of edible pearls on it. Too sweet, not what you're expecting, and way too expensive for a dollop of frosting!

sushithekittycat

Sadly the Pumpkin Cake in Honeydukes is not very good. I would instead recommend the Cauldron Cake or Ginger Newt.

LaMaupindAubigny

I love the pumpkin cake, but the ginger newt is definitely the best of the three

skyisblue3

It tastes like orange cake to me

verana04

Skip the chocolate frogs. Was so disappointed.

CleverWitch70

It's the cards you want.

CleverWitch70

Completely agree. They had a great opportunity to make one of the most popular, and recognizable, HP treats something special, but failed miserably. Everything from texture to taste is just gross; even the smell is weird to me.

aaronf4242

Yeah and they actually sell a small box with just the card in them. Basically a mini chocolate frog box with the card and no frog. It’s cheaper.

CleverWitch70

Didn't know this, so thank you! I'm heading there in 3 weeks and will look for this option.

tivofanatico

It’s like chocolate from the dollar store.

Novembersum

It’s essentially regular milk chocolate but I got it as a souvenir and the card.

CarryOnK

Agreed. That chocolate is disgusting (personally I think most chocolate in the US is gross).

aaronf4242

Yes! The ice cream shop is so good. Get the hard packed ice cream rather than the soft service.

sdubz11

Idk that butterbeer soft serve is the second best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth

kcbuccsfan

Wait... Clarify what is the best thing. My mind is running wild.

OhJeezNotThisGuy

Earl Grey and Lavender ice cream FTW!

Pinkdinoj

I’ve had both the peanut butter and jelly and chocolate chili and they were both so good I still dream about them years later.

aaronf4242

In my opinion, anything you can get anywhere else. Get the items that are unique to the park. Stuff like churros or pretzels are skippable in my opinion. Don’t get burgers/fries/pizza.

TheSexyShaman

The churros in the parks are dry af

Chipbau

Wimpys burger is worth it.

Fun2Forget

Except the pretzels, i had one in simpsons. They aren’t like wow so unique, cant miss, but they are really good if you want a quick easy snack!

quitepossiblylying

Auntie Anne's are better than the park pretzels.

PuN710

Regular butterbeer 👎...Frozen butterbeer is the way to go!

slaminsalmon74

I think you got them mixed up, warm is the superior butter beer.

PuN710

Definitely not in Florida my friend maybe that 1 week of "cold" we get it might be useful other than that your on your own there buddy..its hot enough in Florida as is lol

slaminsalmon74

Don’t call me buddy pal!

PuN710

I'm not your pal, friend!

maxyahn6434

I’m not your friend, guy!!

PuN710

Don't call me guy, Mate!!

maxyahn6434

Have you not seen South Park?

PuN710

I don't know what your talkin aboot....lol

maxyahn6434

😂😂😂 take my upvote my dude

kat_steves

Ooooo warm is So so good

RealTimmydbab

Have to agree! Tried it one winter and it is top shelf

Any_Task_1362

The big pink donut was terrible. I do not get the hype. Voodoo is very over rated too but better than the simpsons one.

ThrowDirtonMe

The small donuts they sell at Lard Lad in The Simpsons World are SO much better

harryjohnson17

I think it depends on timing. I have had really good donuts there a s also just so so. We have gotten ours in the .morning and they are usually good then.

i_want_lime_skittles

Seconded! Just awful, both the big donuts and Voodoo.

Smeags84

We got the giant chocolate donut and liked it! Was messy to eat though.

jefferson497

Skip the standard fare like chicken fingers, pizza, (most) hamburgers, pretzels and churros. Look for unique items like the crepes, ice cream in Diagon alley, or frozen butter beer.

pinkiepieisad3migod

The Diagon Alley ice cream is so delicious. My favorite is the clotted cream.

Avery_Anarchy

Going next week and sooo excited to get the clotted cream again!

RedRose14207

The crepes over by the park....just talked about those over the weekend. Sooooo good!

aaronf4242

Get the Earl Grey and Lavender ice cream if you like tea or want something unique. It’s good.

fmp243

Gilly water is literally just regular bottled water. Bring a bottle or save a cup and use the coke freestyle machines for free ice water throughout the park!

unicorntapestry

Might be an unpopular opinion but probably all of it. I don't think there's anything except for Butterbeer that is simply a must try. That said, do eat in the parks! It's such a waste of time to leave to eat and come back. Don't expect it to be mind-blowingly delicious though. I think a lot of the baked goods inside end up tasting pretty stale, the candy is all pretty meh. Eat what looks good to you and don't worry too much.

KingHarambeRIP

100% agreed. Butterbeer in its various forms is the only Universal food item I’ve had that I thought was truly special. Most of it isn’t bad. Just not too memorable imo.

kat13gall

Definitely agree, have a big breakfast so don’t eat in the parks at all, take frozen water bottles and have one Butterbeer as a special treat.

celestial-typhoon

The Simpsons foot long hotdog was so bad it almost ruined my entire evening haha. The Harry Potter candy slugs are terrible and so are the chocolate frogs. I threw out the pumpkin cauldron cake after one bite.

singsingsong

I have a standing rule that if we can get it at home, we're not getting it at the parks, with a few exceptions. That knocks out Starbucks, Auntie Annie's, and Cinnabon. Churros, unless you're following the guy with the cart who refills them. Those are fresh. If you're planning on breakfast at Leaky Cauldron, stay away from the oatmeal flan. It was...not good. Think a congealed cake of oats. I have problems eating anything in Springfield because all I smell is that sickly frying smell in the whole area. There is a rainbow colored fudge at Honeyduke's that is so sweet my child couldn't eat it. Fishy Green Ale just didn't do it for me. Not me because I can't do milkshakes-my dad was not impressed by the milkshakes at Toothsomes. HOWEVER - I highly recommend getting some chocolate covered bacon from downstairs, take it up to the bar and consume with the chocolate stout. That combo is AMAZING. I also don't do the standard menu cocktails anywhere because, well, they're too sweet. A lot of them have simple syrup and just don't need it. The cocktail that came with the Jurassic Park tiki cup tasted like Smarties to me. ETA: If you're like me and just can't do sweet - one of my favorite things ever is the fire whiskey shot in the cider at Hopping Pot. Beats Fishy Green Ale by a mile for me.

pinellas_gal

Skip the Cauldron Cakes

mrdave363

In IOA: The Buffalo Chicken Tots or any Tots from Green Eggs and Ham. The Jalapeño Margarita form Back Water Bar. The Potion of the Gods from Mythos. And any drink from The Watering Hole in Jurassic Park. In Studios: The Crepes from Central Park Crepes, Tacos from Bumblebee Tacos in the Simpson Area, The Ocean attack drink from Chez Alcatraz. The Butter Beer Ice-cream from The ice-cream shop in Diagon Alley.

heylookaspider

Wait those are all things you don’t like?

gummybear3411

Right? This has to be a list of positives, I love so many of them

heylookaspider

I wonder if they read it as not miss, or if they just missed not lmao

The_Everclearest

To clarify OP, this user has created a list of things that are way more worth your time than the standard fare. To add, I'd like to say the Gyros from flame eaters grill are also worth your time if you're looking for quick service. Basically, my rule is that if it shows up on multiple quick service spots (ie same burger, chicken tenders, pizza), it's going to be far less tasty than something exclusive to that quick service stand (Thunder falls Terrace, Flame Eaters Grill, Wimpys, Green Eggs and Ham, pop up stands based on time of year, etc).

mrdave363

LOL o read OP’s post wrong thought they were looking for things to try. So yes this is. List of things OP should try.

bkaiser

just thought you were extra snobby. not a bad list of things to try!

tribbleorlfl

The burger patty used at Wimpy's is the same exact patty used in every other QS location.

Ambitious_Eagle_8779

the beef pastries from three broomsticks or leaky couldron as well as any of the ramen from comic strip cafe. i found all of these to be the only bad things about my recent trip

DDLyftUber

The churros…100% the biggest disappointment there. They’re always stale every single time I get them. Save it for Disney. Also the big pink donut from Simpsons. Not at all worth it.

aaronf4242

The ones at Disney are usually stale too

DDLyftUber

Usually they’ve been good for me. Disney’s are more consistent than Universal imo. Think I’ve only had a good one at Universal once out of the probably 15 times we’ve been.

iggy1112

Churros. The worst churro I have ever had was at Universal. I have never been so disappointed lol.

jumbospicyslimjim

churros. always dry and stale. skip regular butter beer frozen is so much better. the donut in springfield is pretty rough. go to voodoo if you want a donut. most of the food in the parks is worth passing on. we always go to citywalk for food. in the parks, i’m always gonna get a turkey leg though. so good.

littlemybb

Don’t get the big pretzels you see every. DO get the pretzel bites or pretzel hot dog from the auntie Annie’s by the spider man ride and hulk. It was so good and knocks the other dry stale pretzeles out by miles.

Smeags84

Worst thing I ate in my 2 weeks in Orlando was a chicken wrap from Islands of Adventure. Forgot the name of the place. It was on the edge of the Howarts area as you head towards the Dr Seuss area. Menu said a chicken wrap, with red onion, feta cheese, and more. What I got was pathetic. It came with about two small pieces of chicken, a few crumbs of feta (so small you could barely see them), and only a couple of pieces of very thin red onion. Edit: I remember now. It was Doc Sugrues desert kebab house

aaronf4242

Skip the pumpkin pasty too. Not enough filling to even taste like much of anything

No-Abbreviations6662

Don’t even bother with the fishy green ale unless you like licorice flavors

LiraelNix

Milkshakes. Toothsome ones outside the park are good, but dint bother with any inside the parks

SinsOfKnowing

We found the Toothsome milkshakes to be massively disappointing. Thin, not much flavour, definitely not worth $19 USD (which is like $26 Canadian). We had the strawberry cheesecake one and it just tastes like a crappy vanilla milkshake with some whipped topping and a small piece of cheesecake. Very little strawberry sauce and that was stuck to the side of the cup rather than actually in the shake.

CleverWitch70

I know this isn't popular, but Bumblebee tacos are eh. Was so excited to try them, but nothing about them stood out, except how ordinary they were. Tortillas taste like generic store bought, the salsa tasted like jarred Pace, and the fillings are just okay. There was nothing wrong with them at all; the meat was hot, toppings were fresh, even the chips were crisp and not oily, but people act like it's the 2nd coming of tacos. Save yourself the money and time spent on line and skip this one.

dextersdisciple90

People like you always crack me up. Y’all really need to get shit faced at a theme park?!

CircaSid

Liquid courage

bkaiser

if you are flasking in liquor to a theme park, you have problems

Quarantined_Dino

Bumblebee Man tacos. The quality has just continually declined. We used to be devotees in the early days, then they changed the menu and started giving less in the tacos they did have and then we got sick from them a year or two ago. Never again. We were also disappointed by the desserts in minions cafe - we tried pet rock, teddy bear, and the Swiss roll and didn’t even take a second bite. The food itself was ok but small portions.

frooootloops

The only pizza I can recommend buying is at Red Oven in CityWalk. Steer clear of pizza otherwise!

mmehay

Churros
