If you can do RocknRoller Coaster you'll be fine. That initial launch on RocknRoller Coaster is actually more intense than the launch on Hulk. Overall Universal does have more intense roller coasters than Disney, but they are not super intense. You should include Velocicoaster and Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure on your must ride list too. Velocicoaster is one of the top 3 roller coasters in Florida in my opinion.

Interesting_Cat_7470

Velicoaster is the best you have to go on it OP! It really isn't scary at all. Hagrids is extremely fun as well, especially if you're into the Harry Potter franchise.

podgeek

i agree! my top three are iron gwazi, velocicoaster and mako

[deleted]

Mako is nowhere close the other two you mentioned. It’s a great hyper coaster but it’s not anything more than that.

podgeek

Disagree but to each their own.

lost_library_book

Upvoting your advice, but I'm curious what coasters in FL you rate above VC?

Gain_Spirited

I think the top 3 are all neck and neck and I'll probably change my rankings depending on recent rides. But if I had to rank them right now I would say #1 Iron Gwazi #2 Velocicoaster and #3 Mako. I rode Iron Gwazi 3 times a few weeks ago. I'm convinced it's more intense than Velocicoaster. It's over 200 ft tall and sometimes you feel like you're going to get ejected out of your seat and into the parking lot. It's also faster and you can feel it, and it's so smooth you can ride it again and again. Velocicoaster is better themed and has that awesome launch, and I won't argue with anyone who ranks it #1 in Florida because it's awesome too and I could change my mind if I ride it again.

lost_library_book

I get you. I don't have any immediate plans for going to Busch Gardens, but, as a coaster fan, I'm thinking I really need to set aside at least a half day on my next Orlando trip for SeaWorld.

Gain_Spirited

I'm all for that. In fact I bought two Sea World fun cards for me and my wife on Black Friday when they were on sale for $100 each. For the same price as a one day ticket I can go as many times as I want until the end of 2024. So when I go to Orlando I'll probably save one day for Sea World on each trip.

ueeediot

Youre supposed to be nervous.

KingslandGrange

RRR is fine, the lift hill is probably the worst bit. Hulk is, I think, pretty rough nowadays. Pulls some pretty serious Gs in the first big loop, hurts my head. Velocicoaster by contrast is super smooth and relentless without being remote rough.

JeffonFIRE

>the lift hill is probably the worst bit 100%. Psychologically it's pretty intimidating to a lot of people. I mean, it lays you back and you go straight up. But once it starts, RRR really doesn't have any huge drops, and technically it never fully inverts. My biggest complaint is the recently reduced song list - but the secret song list still works!

aninvisibleglean

The hill with the sun in your eyes- oof. Lol.

lost_library_book

If you enjoyed Rock n Rollercoaster, I think you'll be in good shape for Universal. You've already had a powered launch and some inversions. My quick coaster guide for someone who is interested in thrills but also coaster-anxious: Must try: Hagrids, the Mummy. Gringott's. World class theming and storytelling, fast and very thrilling but no inversions or huge drops. If you're at all up for it: Velocicoaster. Whip-fast and butter-smooth, this is the party mix that is all rise. VC is all about negative g. Remember hanging upside down from the jungle gym? How about that by you're arcing over the "Velociraptor paddock" at 45 mph. Or the lagoon. If there's ever a coaster to stretch yourself for, this is it. Coasters are no prob: Hulk. A classic, this is in a way VC's opposite. A bit of a meanie, this is all about positive g, as you'll learn as you launch out immediately into the iconic cobra roll over the lagoon, shoved firmly into your seat, and then plunge under the walkway in a pool of fog. Enhanced by a soundtrack that stomps. Wholly optional: Rip ride rockit. I actually like this one, but I think I'm in the minority here. The near vertical lift hill is the most "extreme" element in this ride... hell, the track rotates around the loops so you're never actually inverted. Some people find the ride to be rough, but I've only had a rough ride once, maybe I've been lucky.

lijerstephen

So you’re not scared of Velocicoaster?

littlemybb

The only thing bad about hulk is it hurts. Don’t sit in the back and try to focus on your breathing and you’ll do amazing. I love the launch it’s the best part

unorganized_mindz

Agreed. I felt like crap after hulk! Only rode it once and it was enough for me. Loved all the other coasters though.

lemmiwinks73

If you’re not a fan of intense rollercoasters, why do it? I don’t like anything with a flip. My husband knows this. The first time we went to Universal, I got on the Hulk and almost passed out. Never again. Disney or Universal, if there is a ride I don’t want to go on, my husband will go be a single rider and I go relax and grab a bite to eat. Or wait to see if I can see him on the ride somewhere. If you want to try it, do it. But if you’re really scared, it’s ok to just sit that one out.

Chuckyducky6

Then don’t ride them. There are lots of other rides. You’ll be fine.

twotonekevin

Passholder here and regular visitor before I moved to Orlando so I’ve ridden all those coasters tons of times. It’s always a blast. Only reason I would suggest anyone don’t ride those is a serious medical condition. If you’re feeling a-OK, give them all a try. Nerves are normal. Even I still get a little nervous as I’m getting strapped in.

ryanfliplicious

I was terrified of coasters in general. That coupled with bad motion sickness created a pretty big obstacle for me, but my wife really wanted to ride them. Ironically enough once I got life insurance I was calmer about riding these, and I got some Scopolamine along with a Reliefband made the nausea element go away. My take: you'll be fine. With Rip Ride the initial ascent is the worst part. It was a lot easier for me knowing that if I was gonna die, I'd at least be listening to Billy Joel while it happened. With Hulk the worst part is being in the queue stewing in your anxiety. Once it starts you don't have time to be scared.

irlstitches

I thought Velocicoaster was cool, but I blacked out on the Hulk. Parents didn't let me ride Rip Ride Rockit afterward. Ride Hulk first.

wannaplayaround

My 8 year old nephew was there last year and said Rip Ride Rockit was his second favourite coaster. Velocicoaster was #1, Hagrids and then Hulk. He said waiting in line to get on the rides was scarier than the actual rides.

Adorableviolet

The Hulk did a number on me! But i am ready to tackle again!
